  • Thank you so much to Martie Rollin for requesting this video!
    I explain a few different ways I use Basic Grey Magnets in my mini albums. Using magnets in minis gives them a clean and neat look! I use Basic Grey due to their ultra thin profile (1/32") and strength.
    Basic Grey Magnets
    #met 359D - small magnets/ non-adhesive
    #met 522D - large magnets/ non-adhesive
    #met 359 - small magnets/ adhesive
    #met 522 - large magnets/ adhesive
    I hope I have inspired you to use magnets in your projects!
    Thank you so much for watching and don't forget to subscribe to see what other awesome videos I create!

    Just found this video and have used the" magnet in the middle of the page idea " before, but helping it to make a closure with an embellishment is genius. Thanks!!!!

    Debra, thank you for your crystal clear explanation and demonstration of using magnets in scrapbooking. Love the idea of using a magnet on an embellishment such as a flower to add holding power as well as decorating a page or album. Fantastic. I have Basic Grey magnets but I could never figure out how they worked on mini albums. Thanks for your time sharing your suggestions & ideas with all of us! Love from Alabama, Alice

    Thanks so much for such a rapid video tutorial! I really like that idea of a removable embellishment...clever and pretty! I can see that planning ahead is definitely necessary. Nice to hold those flaps in place. I'd thought about making a magnetic belly band on a waterfall...had no idea these magnets would hold through so many layers. Modern magnets are amazing! Again, thanks a bunch! You've answered all my questions. Keep on crafting!

    I have recently just gotten into making paper doll glue books And these little magnets are going to be a great asset so that I don't have to glue down everything and paper doll out fits can be interchangeable by putting a glue disc on the paper dolll and then one on each of the outfits. Thank u so much for your video. You explain the step by step of using the magnets very clearly

    What beautiful projects you make! I can't wait to make my first mini book using them. So many possibilities! When you glue yours in, what do you use? Would a glue stick be enough, or would I need a little touch of hot glue? I don't want to mess up the very first time I try it. Thank you so much for this video!

    • @debrapersing8055

      Hi Jill. Thank you so much. I love to use magnets in many of my projects. I place the magnets between the sheets of paper so there really is no need for glue. There is a paper backing concealing an adhesive on the magnets I use (Basic Grey), and when removed, allows it to be positioned to your project. I then add a paper mat "sandwiching" the magnet. The adhesive on the magnet is pretty strong but if you are worried about the magnet moving around, just add a little adhesive around the magnet after you have applied it to your project and add the additional paper on top. I have found that even getting some glue on the magnet has not hurt the attraction of the magnet. I have never used hot glue or a glue stick for this method. In most of my projects I use Beacons 3 in 1, Beacons Mixed Media, or Score Tape. If you have any other questions please let me know. Have fun incorporating magnets in your projects!

      +Michelle Pinsonneault Hi Michelle. I am so happy that you found this tutorial helpful. The papers that I jused in this tutorial were a mixture of papers from my huge stash. I was determined to create something out of excess papers. I have used some K & Company (Susan Winget Collection) and The Blue Fern Studio Santuary Collection....the others I am not sure. Have fun creating your books. It is so much fun!!!

    Good information but several times you were off screen. What type of glue do you use to glue down the magnets? (You may have mentioned it but I missed it.)

    • @debrapersing8055
      @debrapersing8055  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sandra. I am so sorry about my poor quality of filming. I will work on that. : ) The magnets have some adhesive on them. I rarely just use that. Most of the time I use the magnets they are sandwiched between 2 sheets of paper. On the rare occasion that I do have them on the outside of my project, I use Beacons 4-in-1 glue. In fact, I use that glue for most of my projects.

    can i please know what are the grade strength of these magnets?

  • @jonieisenberg7296
    @jonieisenberg7296 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    This sounds like a stupid question, but do all magnets attach with all other magnets. I want to buy magnets for projects, but I want to have "matching magnets". I realize you can buy magnets for single use for refrigerator decor, etc. So, is there anything I should look for when purchasing?

    • @debrapersing8055
      @debrapersing8055  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jonie! This is not a stupid question. I had to think about this for a few days before responding. I grabbed the Basic Grey magnets that I LOVE to use and tried them against other magnets that I had on other projects and they all attached, even the "single use" for refrigerator use type that you mentioned. Basic Grey labels their magnets either positive or negative to help you to grab a "pair"......however, each one of the magnets have a negative and positive side. So, for instance, you could have 2 "positive" magnets and they would attach. Also, I went around my house attaching a single magnet to many different metal items like, iron, steel and nickel. When I purchase magnets, I look for extra strength and ultra-thin. I have found both of these in the Basic Grey magnets. I am sure that there are other magnets out there that are just as good. Experiment to see what works for you.

      Love, ure so right to ask - magnets have 'north n south' poles n north poles repels north, as south repels south. Once, I 'tried out' 2 pieces of magnets, 'stuck' them together..it worked! ..they were fine before gluing. However, after the glue dried n tried to "close" the flap I made - the magnets repelled! So I learnt it the hard way, that I need to be 'rocket-scientist-precise' when using magnets 😞

    What paper did you use?

    • @debrapersing8055
      @debrapersing8055  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nancy Benefiel Hi Nancy. I was determined to use papers that I had in my stash to make a mini album and this was one of those. The paper on the cover of this particular mini album is from K & Company (a Susan Winget collection). I got it at Joanns. I also have some papers from The Blue Fern Studios Sanctuary Collection. The others were just in my stash and I really do not remember what they are. I hope that this helped you. Thank you so much for watching my tutorial.
