      I did use a scalpel so I feel like I can definitely do surgery after that lol

    I've had boards with similar cracks in that same spot. Never that severe but man people abuse these controllers. The solder pads on the 1708 controllers are so easy to lift its almost like they're trying to make up for the 1697/1698 sticks being almost impossible to remove with a soldering iron.

      I don't even have to look up those boards to know exactly which ones you're talking about. I had to replace 3 analog sticks on those boards yesterday and I've never been so frustrated with a solder joint lmao.

    hackaday brought me here. This is fucking impressive. following the traces was a good idea aesthetically, you need to get a clear shell for that board to live in now so you can show it off! a true FrankenHack

    Thank you for the great video this video let's everyone know it is still possible to fix stuff that's broken and also save the environment.💯😊

    I'd reinforce it by using a thin piece of fiberglass cloth and epoxy on the bottom, if there's room. That would make it stronger but impossible to repair again. 'Course should it sustain that kind of damage a second time it'd be good only for a parts donor.

      That's a pretty good idea! I think if it were to break again I may just let it be lol

    Amazing as always man at this point I'd take that controller I'm sick of joystick drift I changed out the little things on the joysticks fixed it some tried replacing my joystick pulled up 2 pads with my solder sucker and gave up on that board great video man

      Thanks! It's an incredibly annoying problem. Some games allow you to fix deadzone issues like cod but that's a bandaid when its the sticks fault lol and the pads rip up way to easy on certain boards. I'll be doing a controller give away soon :) I doubt my one video will hit that 1000 view count I was hoping for so I think I'm going to redo it so stay tuned!

      @@Solder_king I'm always looking out for your videos man and that sounds nice maybe I'll be lucky enough to win it and yea those solder pads are weak on some boards for sure I didn't wanna keep messing more boards up trying to replace the joystick because I now only have one semi working controller

    Bro, I need your help. I have the same control but in the left stick the 3rd pin from de X axis the copper was removed and I was thinking if I can connect it directly to the resistance? And also I'm not sure what's the right resistence, dou you know which one it is?. You're awesome and I liked all your videos

    How did you know it was just a 2 layer board?

    • @Solder_king
      @Solder_king  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Once it was broken I looked at it from the side and didn't see any layers within.

    would you try to find continuity within trace patterns for the buttons to make sure they're working properly?

    Squeezed my elite controller so hard that it flickers light and doesn't come on. I think I cracked the board on it, so I plan to open it up and see if its fixable...Thank god I know how to solder

    What kind of wire did you use?

      I used 30 gauge wire. It was the perfect size for most of these etches.
