I've noticed that banishing can mean a lot of things thematically. In the case of Ghoti, it means being in the deepest parts of the ocean, which is what it means for Beatuniful Princess and a few other fish cards. A lot of ice themed cards banish, like Trishula and the Swordsoul cards (who channel the power of the Icejades), especially Chengying. It can also mean extinction, like with some dino cards. Giant Rex can special summon itself when it's banished because it's something that's supposed to be extinct but somehow shows up. It's probably the same for the Paleozoic cards, as they're ancient organisms that are all extinct.
Banishing in Yu-Gi-Oh is meant to represent another dimension, usually: which is why you have cards like Dimension Fusion, Return from the Different Dimension, Different Dimension Ground, etc.

I love Ghoti. So many different lines to go into, the cards themselves are fun and have really cool designs and the deck has a ton of interaction. Truly one of Yu-Gi-Oh’s greatest designed archetypes.

I've been curious abou Ghoti ever since they got announced in TCG. This sold me, I built the deck the day after this video came out and now I just hit Diamond wiht my freaky fish boys ^^

Runick Ghoti was a pleasant surprise. I saw someone running a Swordsoul Vanquish Soul build the synergy people come up with is crazy. Hint Jao is a Wyrm in VSoul so yes they can support SwordS for with reveals ❤️
I usually despise Runick for obvious reasons but this was objectively the most based version of the deck I've ever seen. I guess all they needed was to start working with some funky fish.

Started playing master duel a few months ago and started with Ghoti as my first deck and you are right they are really fun to play! I'll have to look into the Runick cards and see how to use them.

having tested versions of runick ghoti on -the site we shall not name lest konami ban me- its so increadibly fun. the only thing keeping me off of it in paper is the price of runick cards, waiting on reprints for hugin fountain and tip in the fall tins. that and in trying to force tearlament in tcg rn, which is also increadible fun.
I fucking love ghoti. I have a deck that uses icejades and ghoti; ain't half bad. Feel like it needs 2 more cards to make the archetype competitive. Great video!

Considering especially that this is the first season with master, its probably somewhere close to a low diamond before, as some of the players would need to grind all the way through and not be filtered properly by things like resets.
So 4:05 brings up something that I want to talk about, since a fair amount of people watching this video probably aren't Ghoti players. TL;DR: Moray of Avarice isn't played because it causes too many problems for the deck, and isn't worth it if you somehow manage to get around those Longer explanation: You don't see Moray of Avarice in any Ghoti decks for one very simple reason; only Shif and Paces recycle themselves naturally, every other Ghoti either can't or has some extra condition to recycle itself. Because there is only a single Ghoti monster that can special itself from hand, 90% of the time, you're left with one of two problems when choosing a target for avarice: Either A. you're banishing a non tuner (Like Lifeless) which heavily impacts your ability, if not even make it outright impossible, to Synchro, or B. Your banishing a tuner that used your normal, and leaving yourself without any non tuners. There are edge cases where MoA can resolve without completely gutting you (Ixeep, the Bystials, Abyss+Silent already on field), but aside from Ixeep (who isn't a good card without a Enoac and a Trap), all of those other cases just offer more consistent value than a Draw 2. Simply put, Moray of Avarice is bait for new Ghoti players, and whether or not that joke was intentional, that knowledge of said joke is more valuable than the card itself

2:14:15 Edit because I was actually wrong here lmao its a different ruling but eh she is still fair game I am sure someone else has pointed this out already, but im gonna explain anyway: Apollousa can negate during the damage step because it is technically a stat-modifying effect, which are fair game during the damage step
Personally I love playing Punk Gold Pride with Ghoti just because the deck great at turning out Syncros and Fusions on your opponents turn. Punks Syncro on your opponents turn with Sharakusai to make Amazing Dragon which is usually a bounce for 4 cards. As For Gold Pride Not only do they quick Syncro with Leon we’re u can make any Syncro as long as u don’t use the reborn effect and use Gold Pride as material but you can also Fusion summon using Roller Baller which is at minimum equipping two of your opponents monsters too him. Ghoti are small engine in the deck. All you have to play is one Ghoti Shift in main that you can banish from deck by Syncro summoning Arionpos on your turn so you get Shift on your Opponents stand by phase. Don’t worry about drawing Shift because it will just be discard card fodder for Punk Foxy tune and still can be banish using its own attack increased effect either on Arionpos or Punk Rising Carp. Shift on your Opponent turn can either Synchro Askaan or Ghoti of Deep Beyond for powerful interruptions with Askaan in particular setting up A follow up Barron on your turn. In total you Synchro and Fusion about 3 or 4 times on your Opponents turn. But that’s not all in addition to not only playing on your opponents turn you also end on 3 too 5 cards in hand with the amount of drawing/searching your doing with Punk field Spell,Gold Pride Better Luck Next Time and just monsters in general. It’s not uncommon to end on 5 cards in hand with not only Punk follow up but also hand traps. At minimum you will have Ghost Ogre which is searchable in combo but you also end on back-row in form of Gold Pride Start Your Engines and Dangerous Gabu. I love your content keep it up my list is on my channels if anyone interested in seeing how it works. Punk Golf Pride Ghoti has to be one of my favorite deck of all time. It’s truly modern day Crystrons.
Real quick, Paces is probably not because it is an anagram of "space" but more likely an anagram of the Spanish/Portuguese/Italian word, "Pesca," which means "fishing." Aside from Eanoc and the otherwise unnamed "of the Deep Beyond", all of the rest of them are the word Fish in different languages.

So 4:05 brings up something that I want to talk about, since a fair amount of people watching this video probably aren't Ghoti players.
TL;DR: Moray of Avarice isn't played because it causes too many problems for the deck, and isn't worth it if you somehow manage to get around those
Longer explanation: You don't see Moray of Avarice in any Ghoti decks for one very simple reason; only Shif and Paces recycle themselves naturally, every other Ghoti either can't or has some extra condition to recycle itself. Because there is only a single Ghoti monster that can special itself from hand, 90% of the time, you're left with one of two problems when choosing a target for avarice: Either A. you're banishing a non tuner (Like Lifeless) which heavily impacts your ability, if not even make it outright impossible, to Synchro, or B. Your banishing a tuner that used your normal, and leaving yourself without any non tuners.
There are edge cases where MoA can resolve without completely gutting you (Ixeep, the Bystials, Abyss+Silent already on field), but aside from Ixeep (who isn't a good card without a Enoac and a Trap), all of those other cases just offer more consistent value than a Draw 2. Simply put, Moray of Avarice is bait for new Ghoti players, and whether or not that joke was intentional, that knowledge of said joke is more valuable than the card itself

Ixeep will recognize a monster was banished and summon itself if you search for it after banishing one of the tuners.
Personally I love playing Punk Gold Pride with Ghoti just because the deck great at turning out Syncros and Fusions on your opponents turn. Punks Syncro on your opponents turn with Sharakusai to make Amazing Dragon which is usually a bounce for 4 cards. As For Gold Pride Not only do they quick Syncro with Leon we’re u can make any Syncro as long as u don’t use the reborn effect and use Gold Pride as material but you can also Fusion summon using Roller Baller which is at minimum equipping two of your opponents monsters too him. Ghoti are small engine in the deck. All you have to play is one Ghoti Shift in main that you can banish from deck by Syncro summoning Arionpos on your turn so you get Shift on your Opponents stand by phase. Don’t worry about drawing Shift because it will just be discard card fodder for Punk Foxy tune and still can be banish using its own attack increased effect either on Arionpos or Punk Rising Carp. Shift on your Opponent turn can either Synchro Askaan or Ghoti of Deep Beyond for powerful interruptions with Askaan in particular setting up A follow up Barron on your turn. In total you Synchro and Fusion about 3 or 4 times on your Opponents turn. But that’s not all in addition to not only playing on your opponents turn you also end on 3 too 5 cards in hand with the amount of drawing/searching your doing with Punk field Spell,Gold Pride Better Luck Next Time and just monsters in general. It’s not uncommon to end on 5 cards in hand with not only Punk follow up but also hand traps. At minimum you will have Ghost Ogre which is searchable in combo but you also end on back-row in form of Gold Pride Start Your Engines and Dangerous Gabu. I love your content keep it up my list is on my channels if anyone interested in seeing how it works. Punk Golf Pride Ghoti has to be one of my favorite deck of all time. It’s truly modern day Crystrons.

Real quick, Paces is probably not because it is an anagram of "space" but more likely an anagram of the Spanish/Portuguese/Italian word, "Pesca," which means "fishing." Aside from Eanoc and the otherwise unnamed "of the Deep Beyond", all of the rest of them are the word Fish in different languages.
