You can rationalise it like that if you'd like but ultimately the reason is because konami said so. It flat out doesn't make sense that attaching affects a monster but detaching does not.

Damn this deck looks surprisingly fun. Like not the best endboard but interesting interactions and decent amount of unique disruption. That rongo out was the stuff of legends.
I find that including a small Machinas package is really good in this deck. When you finish Tallyho, make sure you have both Sargas, and 2 level 4s (is made easier by Machine Duping Brothers) and summon Gear Gigant X. Gigant effect to search Machina Unclaspere, who summons self from hand (essentially meaning you got a Xyz for one level 4) and sends Machina Citadel. Pass to opponents. Then, on their turn, you pop your own Gear Gigant ASAP and summon Citadel. Then, Big Sargas can return Machina Unclaspere to hand, whose effect means you can special summon them back immediately and pitch another Machina, I like to do Ruinforce. So, I turn one target pop and one pop/bounce into a 3k or less atk field nuke and a 4600 beater from the Graveyard next turn (that will save your butt even if you get board wiped)
I like the pack openings, its neat to see whether your lucky or not with them, plus the chants to summon specific high rarity cards in pulls crack me up.

Tally-ho! Springans's grave effect doesn't detach for cost. Here's the text: "During your Main Phase, if this card is in your GY: You can target 1 Xyz Monster on the field; detach 1 material from it, and if you do, add this card to your hand." The activation procedure is just targeting an xyz monster on the field, there is no cost. Thanks for another great video Joe. I don't know how you improve the videos so much every ladder climb. In terms of pack opening I think the current method is fine. BTW Goblin Joe will always be my favourite. :)
God, the idea that needing a whole 2 cards to combo means it’s too slow really reflects badly on the game. Still enjoyed this! Nice to see you had a cheap month, even if I missed the pack openings
That rhongo game was crazy 😮💨 I also like how near the start of the video we were shxt talking evenly and then it basically solos all the rank up games 😂
I'm only an hour in but man this deck seems much more fun than I thought and based on the last xyz where it was a loaner. Especially that rhongo move seems nice.
Most people pass on Springans since they consider them either weak or boring, but tge truth is that they have some of the highest potential as an archetype. An archetype of monsters that has a way to search either an omni negate or a rota sould charge that has bo restrictions whatsoever and can allow you to go into anything? Now that's busted. Their weakest points are their monsters which suffer from bot being able to be a one card combo. If they ever get more support in the form of nee monsters, and trust me that as a Springans player and someone who's favourite archetype is Springans, I really hope they do, they'll become a meta deck for sure.
"Another win for maxx C." The roach is very much cancer that should be banned, but it didn't matter that game, you already drew an evenly matched in your starting hand so the extra draws didn't do anything. That was all him being stupid and not summoning carrot. Now if he had a carrot and negated then the extra evenly from the bug would have mattered, but he didn't. Without the roach you still instantly win that game with Evenly.
Those 3 hours where quite the ride. I already saw Spriggans in action a while ago, but cool to see that their new support allows them to actually be viable.

Personally i almost always watch the pack openings, and its a 50/50 on watching all the gameplay. Think this is something you cannot win though, people that enjoy pack openings VS enjoying gameplay are mostly gonna be at odds. Tbh i think the balance is very good, its enough pack opening to enjoy, and enough gameplay so that it doesn’t drag on imho.
I dunno if anyone's told you this yet, but you can actually click+drag from the battle position directly to the zone you want to summon the monster to, which is slightly faster than clicking twice

You can only use each effect of "Springans Sprindbrumm brumm" once per turn.
(1) If this card is Special Summoned: You can discard a card; Special Summon 2 "Springans" monsters, one from your deck and the other from your GY.
(2) If this card is sent to the GY; You can send a "Springans" monster from the Deck to the GY.
(3) If this card on the field or GY is banished: You can target a "Springans" or "Golgonda" card in the GY or that is banished (except itself); add that card to your hand.
The duel vs spright (Barn Burn) was very exciting. Love your videos!
That Rhongo player is like someone internet who he rely on 1 pasta comment and see 1 counter that cracks it 😧 😨
Been watching this over several nights of the baby teething. The antics of Rocky and Blower and Evenly Matching have been a fun time.
i find that the pack openings are the best and most fun part... i love the antics that hard leg puts out there and it makes me happy... please dont change it ❤❤❤❤❤
The quote is probably a Therions thing, since they all have special titles in quotations, possibly related to their battle rankings or something. And it's Gigantic because it probably also tamed the Gigantic Spright at the same time, it's not a coincidence Spright Smashers is a Springans(and Therions) card.
:O
I never realize the spright connection! Cool!
That rhongo game was crazy 😮💨
I also like how near the start of the video we were shxt talking evenly and then it basically solos all the rank up games 😂
1:24:37 that "oh" took me out 😂😂😂 the realization to immediately try to otk numeron
I do enjoy Pack openings. For some reason. One can also skip them, so leave them in please :)
I actually like the longer pack openings. It reminds me of watching siege pack openings and the nostalgia is strong
"Another win for maxx C."
The roach is very much cancer that should be banned, but it didn't matter that game, you already drew an evenly matched in your starting hand so the extra draws didn't do anything.
Hardleg does lovely timestamps , please use them if you want to skip parts of the content :) ❤
I watch your content really casually. Like, I literally mainly watch these monthly climbs. I don't like watching drafts and all. So, when it comes to what you put in your content: you do you.
Neat, Spriggans is what I use to climb, and this was a nice surprise for me who doesn't keep track of the discord or streams.
Happy we're finally getting a secret pack for the rest of this deck!
@ 2:02:08 My new favourite song. I think I'll start singing this when I spray the "bug". 😂
This is one of my fav Ladder climbs so far c:
Also about the Pack opening: idk if it's the "best part of the video", but I do really like them and wouldn't want them cut.
That being said, if the majority is for cutting them, I will accept the fate bestowed upon us
My favorite part of each ladder climb isnt opening the packs or watching the duels, its litening to the sound of Joes laugh as his opponent makes horrible game loosing plays
I've enjoyed springans but never built a pure archetype deck so I'm looking forward to watching the video!
This is the best deck
If ever runbacks are considered, I hope Hardleg plays this deck and Ghoti again.
Lore accurate duel vs sprights
Therion quotation marks are nicknames.
That Rhongo match was so funny.
I know right?!
Good lord, that bout vs Spright was nuts! Barn burner indeed.
I think this may be my new favorite ladder climb! I'll probably have to watch it again to know if I like it more than fossils 😆
That double evenly matched followed by the “uuuuuuuuugghhh”
That card needs be once per turn for sure 😂
"Golgonga"
Hardleg Springan into action. Also i like the pack opening. Some of your best humor is from the pack opening.
I need the vicarious satisfaction of watching a man open packs, it gives me the dose that I need.
Thank you Joe. I beat a Kashtira Player with my Gemini-Gearfried Deck Yesterday. It was glorious. (Per usual i used 0 Handtraps or negates)
Watching this deck pick apart Rhongo and Thunder Dragons was so satisfying!
Love these videos keep up the great content ❤
good to see Critter finally get that raise! He's been really workin hard to earn it.
Oh boy, I sure do love targeting a ZONE ON THE FIELD
So happy to see you went with this thumbnail
To be fair, I initially started with another one, but the views in the first few hours were awful, so I switched.
1:26:17 average numeron player, summons megaclops against a deck that uses mostly XYZ monsters.
lol
I like the card pack openings. The highs and lows are fun.
Playing this deck gives you the excuse to scream "Tally ho!" during a duel.
TALLY HO!
I dunno if anyone's told you this yet, but you can actually click+drag from the battle position directly to the zone you want to summon the monster to, which is slightly faster than clicking twice
I'm aware, but I find it kind of sloppy. There's a higher chance to misclick and accidentally drop a card in the wrong zone.
@@HardlegGaming Fair!
That was great. I know you really pushed at the end there but it was still super hype just to make it to master, even if it took you until 2am
Good to know people appreciate the effort :)
I like the pack opening, probably my favorite part of the video, but all Joe content is good content
hi man i love you content and i am new in yu gi oh community i think you are my favorite youtudeber for yugioh :P i have a lot of problem to understend the game but i am doing well rigth now :P my bigest problem is that i dont have knowledge for the game card library so :P yea it is litle hard for me to make a good deck :P bat its ok :P i learn a lot from your video :P thnx a lot for that :3 keep it up and have a fantastic day
I did recently pull a galaxy tomahawk with my Arby’s gift cards. I guess there are some nice things 😂
Double lava golem meme moment had me laughing so fucking hard my dude 😂
Great episode this month! This deck really hit the sweet spot of obscurity and power, making it novel and entertaining while also performing impressively well.
Also, I'm team pack opening. Its part of the story of the climb so why not include it? The timestamps are there for those who'd rather skip anyway
Springans have been my pet deck since exblower released, so happy to see em.
Not the best, not the most unique but I just love robot desert pirates too much to care
#Bannmaxx"C"
Pack opening is indeed the best part of any Master duel video
When decking out happens a turn after you don't think you can. GJ had trap buddy.
Jesus, about time hardleg dropped the new single.
The pack openings are the funnest part of your videos. Don’t listen to the haters Hardleg!
I sure hope he does Earth Machine at some point, i've been trying to get into that(because big bulky machines are cool), but i'm not really sure how to operate it properly.
3 hours of Hardleg? You spoil us, Joe
I gotta make it worth the wait!
