He has severe manic depression and anxiety (has been to multiple counselors for over 4-5 years) and 9-1-1 was called 2 times within 24 hours of his stupid threat. His mom begged for the sheriff to arrest him because he was so mentally off due to abusing his depression drugs. Cops didn’t do anything. And essentially laughed at her for even trying to have them stop him. A few hours later, he went into the store and here we are 1.5-2 years later, he’s in jail, and those cops are still eating their donuts not helping. Our system is so flawed. Mentally ill people essentially have to commit a crime in order to get the proper attention and help from state/local agencies.
Convicted persons in America appear to get excessive sentences. Often 50 years or more. Apart from a couple of "Never to be released" cons, there are just a handful sentenced to 40 to 45 years here in Australia.
