    This is great thank you so much. I've been considering engine swapping my MR2 and this has shown me I have the skill to do so.

      @@Merryfrankster_ and I appreciate your videos!!! (Only don't like when you say "just kidding" we already know that 99% are dumb in MR2 stuff and the other part if don't like turn the video off ahaha) MR2 for dummies, you should made a book with that 😂

      @@HenriquePedroRocha Thanks for your comment - and I like what you said about "just kidding" but now this is my trademark intro phrase and I am not going to change it. LOL. It's just a way of winking at the viewer and letting them in on the inside joke. I am very glad that you enjoy the videos. It is very satisfying for me to know that people do appreciate this format. I continually try to make them better, more informative, more interesting, and maybe a little bit entertaining.

    would an 2zz out of an automatic matrix xr be able to bolt directly onto the stock manual trans in the 1zz?

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You need to remove the automtatic flexplate, install a manual flywheel, put your existing clutch on the flywheel, and then it will bolt to your 1zz transmission,

    In town driving isn't the 1zz better for stoplight to stoplight in that it is torquier?

    • @Merryfrankster_

      There is no absolute "better" between 2zz and 1zz. To each his own.

  • @puregsr

    Is the ECU automatic and manual specific?
    I drive an 04 Matrix XRS, found an 03 Matrix XRS engine with automatic tranny at the junkyard. I pulled the engine but left the ECU and the wiring harness.

      I would be willing to sell the 1zz. It's a healthy engine with good compression. It was just dyno tested this week. If you're interested call me at 808-280-1196.

      Frank Saab Thanks, my motor finally gave out on a trip to autozone, I cut spark and fuel to that cylinder and was able to limp it home. I bought a complete 85k mile drivetrain and subframe from DND towing by Hawaiian Cement for $400 that I’ll be swapping in over the weekend, but I appreciate the offer very much!

    Hello
    I have a mr2 spyder I changed the 1zz motor for the one you have the 2zz I have the apex computer and the wiring of that computer that sells monkeyracing the case is that my harness of the 1zz motor I want to put it in the 2zz and the valve connectors idle and tps are 4 pins and the 2zz the throttle body is 3 pins I must buy a cable for the 2zz motor and another thing my car was automatic and I passed it to manual with the transmission that you have in the video if you can orient what to do with the cabliado I thank you brother

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The automatic 1zz engine wire harness does not work with the 2zz. The manual throttle body is different. You must modify the harness, or buy a 1zz manual harness to use instead.

    I have a Celica Gts currently but I’ve always liked the mr2’s the problem is tho that there getting expensive like for one with a hard top the only one I see goes for a little over $20,000cad and if I were to engine swap it
    it’d cost me another $12,000cad if I got a swap from monkey wrench racing

    Just wondering can you use the Roadster 6 speed box instead of the celica one?

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is a direct fit, but the gear ratios are not very well suited to the 2zz. The 2zz needs closely spaced gears like the c60 or c64 to maintain lift on gear shifts especially going 2-3 and 3-4.

    • @kevinjones3900
      @kevinjones3900 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used MR2 6spd with Celica crown wheel on the MR2 LSD straight fit. Then used Celica gears 1 to 5 and MR2 6th gears. In short the Celica internals fit into the MR2 case. You can use the Celica 6th gears if you want

    This seems pricy for a small increase in power in relation to a full build. Can't really argue legality either because a 2ZZ swap isn't 50 state legal so I'll just stick with my 1ZZ and forget to brake.

    • @Merryfrankster_
      @Merryfrankster_  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not every swap is right for everybody but if it's right for you it's a great swap and if not you can whatever.

      @@Merryfrankster_ Yeah. I would go with the 2ZZ if it wasn't a nightmare compared to what I'm used to. Honda's are easier than I thought. Like, WAY easier. I thought that s swap would be just as simple as swapping a B16A with a B18C.

      @@RyuusanFT86 This week I did a head gasket on some kind of b-motor in an old crv and a timing belt on a 3.7 J in a MDX. I don't know that they're harder or easier than Toyota motors I think it's all in your head maybe you need to chill out and stop imagining baba yaga coming to get you.

      @@Merryfrankster_ Woah, where's the hostility coming from? From my experience, Honda's are like Legos in my personal experience. Are you one of those people who hate Honda purely because you like Toyotas? To be perfectly clear, my all time favorite is a 2 Door Kouki Levin. If that's not the problem can you enlighten me one what set you off?
