Metal Detecting is a good way of chilling out, its a good bit of therapy, fresh air, long walks. Its also a bit like those unboxing videos you see on youtube because even though you have an idea of what's buried below your feel you're never really sure. I love watching people such as Aquachigger, NuggetNoggin, Dr Tones, Addictedtobleeps, Si Finds, DALLMYD and Digger Dawn. I've been Detecting with Deep Digger Dan during his digging the coast 365, that was fun. I used his XP Deus... Very light. I started out using the Garrett Ace 250 and then added a Nel Tornado coil. After that I started using a Nokta Makro Kruzer and some how managed to find so much more on land I thought had been detected to death. Silver coins, WWII badges and bullets and down the beach I've even found GOLD and Silver Rings. In my latest video I've finally found a Roman Coin and A Saxon Strap End. I took my new Simplex out on New Smyrna Beach yesterday and found so much stuff and I found my first ring with it it's a silver band with carvings in it, it's very beautiful!!! I'm very happy with my Simplex!!!!!!****

I’m a bit late to this but we vacation in New Smyrna almost every summer and love it. I took my cheap Bounty Hunter and didn’t do so well but did get a lot of garbage cleaned up. I ordered a Simplex last night and a Midi Hoard for my 7 yr old son and we’re excited to have upgraded equipment for vacation this year.

Nice one mate! Not many people have put the Simplex up against the actual machines it was made to compete with, entry level machines. I would love to see it put up against the Ace 250 & Nel Tornado coil on beach and land as there isn't any videos on here like that yet. I have that set up and would love to see if the Simplex would be a nice little upgrade.

Very nice beach test of entry level machines, it makes me curious how they would have preformed with a good target very close to a bad target buried half as deep just to see if any of them would have signaled a good target. nice video mate
Very good as I have both the GO-FIND & 250 but am thinking of the Makro for water detecting. I'd be interested seeing these against the NOX 800 that everyone raves about!

Great vid Arron, I was stunned how badly the Garrett was on gold, I started with a 250 my backup is a 250 I also have a 300i ,hate it, and a Garrett sea hunter, hate that with a passion! Only this week bought a simplex so off to the sun and sand with that in a few weeks.

@@Staaachuuuu it was very chatty on the beach but I did the ground balance and it disappeared but I've noticed that field mode works best just about everywhere!!!!

Awesome review Arron mate and fair i thought 😀👌👍....now my thoughts iam and i wont hide it and you know me brother a garrett fan still like them even though i now sport the ORX ...I think all three machines did really well ive never used a go-find but the ace 250 at the time was designed in 2005 and there were no entry leval machines with wifi and fully waterproof ...but i would like to see the simplex and go-find vs the garrett euro-ace/350 with its stock DD coil ..So to sum up putting a 14 year old machine against a new one with more up to date teq its never going to outshine although that 250 did better then i thought it would 👍..cool video Arron well worth watching 👍👌😀

Nice video Arron. I am pretty sure though most people would agree that the Simplex Plus is only entry level in terms of price? It punches way above its weight in terms of features and performance. So in a way it seems out of place in this round up? Maybe do another vid when the Vanquish and the new Quest machines are available in the new year?

Old video, but look at the coil size of the simplex vs the other 2 lol. Ace 250 definitely the worst of the bunch. If the go find had a coil as bjg as that simplex, i think they would have been comparible.
That's the problem I find even when I am out with the ace 300i,very dodgy signal's mate,I bet their is lots I have missed!

If the Go Find pretty much kept up with the Simplex it makes it even funnier when Simplex owners claim its as good as an Equinox.

The Quest X5 or X10 would have been very interesting given their low price.
The Simplex kills all at that price range. If the vanquish comes out, it will compete with the Simplex, but that's the only one for under 500

As someone who has never metal detected but did lots of research & ordered the Simplex+ (arrives tomorrow) I feel as if I definitely chose the right detector for me.

fair challenge arron i just think the minelab go find looks like something you would have bought from tandys in the 80s my first detector where as the other 2 look like you have bought from a proper dealership and i am not taking away its performance you will know exactly what i mean

Hey Robbie!!!! How's things across the pond!!!??? 😊😊😊 I took my new Simplex 2 New Smyrna Beach yesterday and I found a lot of stuff plus my first silver ring with it!!!! My first silver ring I found with my teknetics Delta 4000, and my second ring I found was silver with a pearl I found that with my Minelab Explorer SE, my 3rd ring I found was a stainless steel Tungsten I found that and a Tudor Black Bay GMT man's watch with the Minelab Explorer SE too and yesterday I found my 4th ring and it's silver with carvings in it!!!💜💜💜💍💍💍

just bought a $100 detector to help me find property stakes, it seems when I swing it, it well beep, then not beep over the same spot, then after 4 or 5 more swings it well beep again

If you go for a Garrett ace 250 £180 new you’ll want a Nel tornado coil which is another £100. So £280 will give you a decent machine. Simplex is currently £270 and water proof and has VDI numbers. For that budget I’d go simplex

The problem with the Ace 250 is the stock coil. Put a decent coil on it and your away. To be honest my AT Pro would have struggled with that depth. Also if items are deep they are generally in compacted sand and that gives detectors a better chance of finding them. Good test though. Be interesting to see how a cscope detector preforms like the CS4PI.

Great vid Arron but let’s be fair you are on the beach so it would have been good for a newcomer to see how they behaved in wet sand. The Simplex would have been better in field mode as I’m sure you know so I do wonder why the test was done this way? Best to show the machines full capabilities. As a so called entry machine you were using it on its most basic settings and it was still the better of the 3. I started on an ace 250 myself which I also still have but technology has moved on somewhat and as a waterproof machine even when the vanquish comes out I would still advise a newcomer who is beach hunting to get the Simplex.
Dave Nelson beach mode purely because we were on the beach, if I didn’t people would have said “should have been in beach mode” and I think all 3 did very well even the ace 250

Yep, still 9k or 18k but largely copper... looks cheap, not a fan.
wet sand sorts the wheat from the chaff not that dry sand
the track speed will be different between the 3 ,figuring out the proper track speed for all 3 will change results

Yup. I have a makro Kruzer. I never run beach mode on the beach unless I'm close to the water line where the black sand or salt(on salt beaches) is a problem. Once I get into the deeper sand I go to deep mode or field mode on the simplex.
beach mode has discrim so not a fair test, field mode is deeper.also no update needed just use all metal mode.
Go find 44 is very good for the price .
It's light and compact and very discreet
I've got a Go-Find 44 here in Australia, the best thing about it is it folds up and fits in my backpack, it works well, it just doesn't do wet sand. Because they make them here it's cheaper, the Go-Find 44 was $290aud, an Equinox 800 is $1070aud. The Simplex being waterproof is a big deal, I'm looking forward to a Simplex vs Vanquish comparison.
Well I've never had a Vanquishbut I got my new Simplex 2 or 3 weeks ago and took it on New Smyrna Beach yesterday and found so much stuff plus a silver ring so I am extremely happy with my new simplex and it performed great in the water, on wet sand and dry sand!!

Good, it’s not a PI machine or multi frequency but it’s good on wet sand 👍 it’s on one of my past videos...
John, I just bought my new Simplex about 2 or 3 weeks ago and for the first time I took it out on the beach yesterday and I found so much stuff with it!!! and it works great on dry sand and what's and I've had a lot of metal detectors glitch out when they get in the wet sand and this one worked perfectly I definitely recommend it I love my new Simplex!!!!!

While scanning the beach with my metal detector it indicated Gold. Unfortunately it was a Russian man sun tanning. He had a gold tooth.

i would think the Simplex would compare better to the ACE 400 , since the 250 has such a small coil and fewer discrimination modes.

This was the strangest video i have seen concerning the Simplex. On other channels you see the Simplex even beat high end machines like the Deus, Equinox 800, even the CTX3030.... I now have my AT Max as a back up detector😂. Don't underestimate the Simplex. GL&HH

@@SouthCoastDetectingI am looking for repeatable signals. I now know what I did wrong when I buried a quarter in my back yard at 6 inches. I did not drill a small hole and attach a string to it lol. My bounty hunter or Ace 250 will not give me a repeatable signal. I will see what the Simplex does when I finally get it.
Don't know what is going on in your mind, but the Simplex+ out did the other 2 by far. Minelab did better than the Garrett. Garrett was the worse of them all. Minelab was better by far than the Garrett, but Simplex in my opinion hit them all with no problem except for the last test that you did.

if he used the app with the go find 44 it would have told him what it thinks it is but defiantly better then the garrett the simplex is also £100 dearer in price
I think you start to get it with the Garrett because you end up scraping about 2 inches of sand off I have owned garretts and with stock coil it would never get 11 inches on a ring or coin unless it was the size of a wheelie bin put a after market big coil on then maybe

The gofind is a very sensitive detector but without a ground balance it can be worthless! In some soils

Can’t argue with that, but for a wireless waterproof unit £299 is a good price. Agree though, I’m not a fan of the tones.

Good review for air testing but Air testing is not the way to test machines. Rings are dodgy any ways so if your not experienced enough to use these machines and swing correctly over targets they would miss the item all together anyways. Detecting beaches and all the mineralization will affect any VLF machines beach hunting. For the Value of a machine the Simplex would be a good starter machine for all the options and waterproof capabilities. Not all machines work for each individual and environment so my opinion would say your not losing a ton of money if your a beginner by choosing any one of those brands that experience and knowledge of using any of the machines will help you decide in the future if you want to get a more costly Higher end machine. I still have my 1986 Original Technetics Bounty hunter Pro 2 and still works today and still goes head to head with my AT Pro in depth and Target. Of course those machines weighed like 5 lbs seriously and took 13 AA Batteries LOL. Oh and the Price tag was 900 dollars US originally. All machines are good or better so good luck on everyone's decision which one to buy. Thanks for sharing Good Video HH BOW AL
