Just one more superb test and review from the Gigmaster! You keep it real! Ok machine if starting out, but that chatter would drive me crazy. A bit like the Garrett Ace 250 on wet sand, not good! I will be keeping my Nox, you just prove it to be the superior machine. Thanks GM! fantastic as always!
Pete Randall The Anfibio multi does the same thing made by the same company because they are deep machines you have to learn how to hear you’re a good targets through that chatter but that’s not hard to do because the machine screams at you when it has a good target
WESLEY, its because they are single frequecny machines in salt sand. Nothing to do with how "sensitive they are" singlw fx CANNOT COMPETE WITH MUTI on wet salt sand. EVER
Stephen Digs History Well I have to disagree because it makes that same noise in the field that it did on his video I have never searched in salt water because I live in Cleveland Ohio all I know is they are noisy machines but you can tell when you have a good hit I also have the equinox 800 and I love that machine too and I I am vacationing in February in Florida and planning on bringing the equinox not the Anfibio. Also bringing my TDI white beach Hunter. And there was no reason to scream my name
Stephen Digs History
Exactly...
I never understood why people feel the need to hit wet sand with vlf,s anyway...
Simplex is more machine for the money,, considering dollar for dollar
To be fair you have to reground balance the detector when going from soft sand to wet sand on the simplex. Secondly this is the old software on the machine and you have to get the 2.77 version and you'll see a large difference in depth on the machine. When working in wet sand ground balance in Beach mode with one notch down in sensitivity and you're good to go with very little chatter. It's a great machine once you learn how to use it correctly.
Thanks for the info
@@GigmasterI’m glad your responsive to positive criticism…
Yep, try ground balancing again in the really wet sand and see if that helps.
Trev Surfs yes ground balance will take away a lot of the chatter
The manual says to set the GB to 0.00 on the Beach.
True 😎👍🏽
In the wet sand our suppose to set the ground balance value to 0.00 and ground blance.then switch to the detecting mode you want then it will automatically ground balance.
Thank you Sir for taking the time to review this detector for us all. Mine was stolen and I'm trying to save up some money for a new one. I think I'll be looking forward to purchasing one in the future. Blessings to you!
You don't want to turn your machine on while it is on the ground. Keep it pointed straight ahead. Manual ground balance it
I think you should go to ground brace setting and click the left -arrow till it says 0.00 like the instructions say to do then manual ground balance.to the wet sand.I don't know out in the water but I would try.
A lot better than most other entry level price range and many higher priced machines👍👌 Good job!
Your tests help people make a decision to buy it or not. But good starting price.
Glad I own an Equinox. But for the price it looks good for a beginner.
It's not a beginner detector, it will hold its own with the Equinox 600 I own both machines.
@Allan Jensen Like I said I have both the Equinox and the Simplex, the Equinox has only a slight advantage over the Simplex because of the multi freq.
Allan Jensen itvdepends on your beach as well-different beaches have different types of sand and mineral content.
Good vid GM, but I can't understand you Americans obsession with vid,s, positive signal dig all day numbers are secondary to audio
When I typed in Simplex,beach..... Your video popped up! Thanks for the review. I have so much chatter with the Garrett AT Max on the beach , I am thinking of buying that Simplex. It may do better on the hard ground too. Good video comparison. Thanks.
Thanks for the test. Exactly what i expected from a single frequency vlf on salt sand. Definitely no comparison the the Equinox.
Gig, I am glad you stuck to you guns on this. Right at the end you said it. When you see me on the beach I will be using the equinox. I am with you on that.....
Gig, try this trick. This supposedly works with the Nokta Multi Kruzer. First lower your sensitivity. Then ground balance it. Then raise the sensitivity back up. See if it quiets down the chatter. I would first try lowering sensitivity halfway before ground balancing.. If that doesnt work try lowering sensitivity all the way down. Ground balance, then full sensitivity. Let us know if this works. thanks
Ben S Thanks will try
Great video..I’ve been using Equinox 800 with the update and it seems better at ignoring bottle tops..that Simplex doesn’t seem bad for a cheap end machine..I started with the Teknetics Patriat And the audio sounds the same. The Equinox has better audio.. all the best Jim.
My hunting buddy had the same problem last week with his first dirt hunt...also interfered with his pinpointer. Contacted Nokta and there’s a firmware update he needed to apply. We hunted yesterday and the pinpointer issue resolved, but it’s still chatty. Nokta needs to work on that some more, IMO.
New fan here. Thanks for that review. Probably the machine for me in a few months. Kinda getting frozen in now in the cape cod area.
Thanks for all you do. Much appreciated 👍. Love my Eq.
Thanx for finally taking the Simplex to the wet sand! ☺ I'd reccomend for any test of any detector #1 check the ground in ALL METAL mode until you find a quiet spot. Be sure no other detector or RF is within 10 feet . #2 then switch to Beach mode or whatever and run the groundbalance. #3 detect
Regarding the ML Equinox, it obviously has a persistent "lock" on the Number ID. I don't know that machine but many detectors have a way to turn this on and off. My 20 yr old Whites had this. Its possible the Simplex could add this as a setting in the software.
In the long haul I'm wondering if the Simplex can stay dry if used under the water as much as the Equinox or Garrett AT?
We shall see. My Simplex will be here in 2 weeks. How can a person not be happy with it. The Simplex is cheaper than your beach scoop!
Thanx man!
Johnny Hiett You know it will be underwater when I get the chance! Lol
The machine started to pay for itself before its even set up!
I purchased a Equinox 600 two days ago and hadn't had a chance to hunt with it unilt yesterday I watched your video on how to set up the Equinox, so How About this for a very first hunt and find with the Equinox 600, I was blown away yesterday I literally took 10 steps from my car and started swinging, the detector signaled a target at 17 so I dug it and there it was about 3 to 4 inches down, A sterling Silver Ring 9.25 with a amethyst stone and diamonds all over it, I had to take a deep breath and step back, I though I was dreaming or my eyes had gone bad. What a find, After that I continued my hunt finding a hand full of clad, a spoon a large leash clasp, metal hair clip, 3 brass rifle shells and loads of trash. This hunt was in a park in Eustis. Florida. A great day for sure The Equinox 600 is for real
. JJ SMITH
That is awesome live to hear stories like that!
The 600 is a good machine!
Just wondering how chattering was it in the breakers? You know knee deep water or so? Live in Charleston South Carolina this time of the year it's just too hot to be in the woods 1 a good detector for the beach but trying not to spend $1,000 on it do you think it's worth it. The simplex? By the way great video
Thank you for the Test Gigmaster. You proved to me that I need the Equinox 800 instead of the Simplex. I couldn't handle all that chatter.
if ground balance to 00 it runs perfect
Is that the stock coil that comes with the Equinox? if not the comparison is adjusted in favor of the nox.
Thx Steve, good info. I haven’t hit the beach yet.
Thanks for the information good job making a video I’ll stick with the equinox 800 but for the price
Hello!! How do you find the volume of the waterproof headphones? I’ve heard they are not very loud. Thanks for the great videos!!!
Thanks Steve, Great review!
Gigmaster, another excellent and very thorough test. Just shows you that, to be brutally honest, VLF is and will always be VLF. At a saltwater beach in the wet any VLF is not the machine to use.
Ding ding ding. Exactly. Im not realky sure why all the hype about the simplex and people thinking it would compete with the Equinox. In fresh water, it will work fine. Salt water, not going to be one bit better than any other single fx vlf.
I was never able to get the Simplex stable on wet salt beaches, so I upgraded to the Legend and problem solved...
Beach Hunting, Nothing beats Sovereign GT
David Frazier
Exactly..
Beach hunting on wet sand needs either to be done with a pulse induction or a multiftrequency machine ..or a dual freqency that run simultanously .
I tried lots lots of Vlf macbines and some are doing ok ... but thats about it .
I can indeed confirm the makro racer and the simplex can be used on the wet sand to find coins and rings and it will let you know when you encounter something of the above ..
And that is already surprisingly impressive ...
But it will never be a wet sand hunters choice since it miss depth and stabilty on the wet sand..
Every body would have bought way cheaper vlf machines for wet salt sand hunting if they worked like a champ ..
They simply dont .
They do all kinds of jobs and can be a terriffic choice for dry sand on the beach .. or ploughed fields and parks ..
For wet samd you need sometning with more “ muscles “
Equinox , ctx , fisher dual frequency ..garret sea hunter , tesoro sand shark , garret atx , whites pi dual field ... the axcaliber or even an old explorer type of detector ...
Anything else lacks depth , lacks stability , lacks a comfortable wet salt sand hunt in general .
@@masitaatisam3679 Thanks for the reply.
Good stuff to know if I decide to buy one!
Great review and comparison video. Thanks!
Good machine for bottle caps ! Can"t see it finding small gauge fishing hooks at 10 inches. Prefer the live digs----not too much of a fan of air tests but you sure make interesting videos--big thanks ! My Equinox 800 will take a lot of beating.
Can you re-create the field test you did with the Pro XP and 800 but add the Symplex and go back to your original settings on the equinox
Great test,thanks for sharing.
Is the ground balance preset on the Simplex or can you manually adjust it?
You can manually set it
The Symplex and bottle caps is showing that it’s junk because the numbers are jumping around the equinox is thinking it is a quarter or whatever because it’s round I have the Anfibio muti and it does the same thing and that’s what it supposed to do
How often did you ground balance it from a nox user looking for a back up detector
ALAN BURNS Probably not enough but I dont think it would have totally eliminated all the chatter.
Can you do less numbers on equinox?
I guess when it got real chatty in wet sand why didn't you try ground balancing it again? I know it has auto ground balance but its not exact.
Would be interested in a retest after you've learned to operate the Simplex. Also would like to see you throw your Equinox replacement and the Simplex in the ocean, just to see what happens.
He doe'snt even know how to ground balance!
Great review thanks for sharing
Does the Simplex have bluetooth capability for various headphones or is it proprietary?
Thanks Mr Gig. As a backup or lender for $250, the Simplex seems a good option, but think I'll spend my $ this holiday on a 6 inch coil for my NOX instead.
My nox ones would not.
Good finds keep digging & find those goodies
Thank you you just answered my question how Chaudhry would it be in the wet sand. And in the water. Damn you going to have to by The Equinox now
Simplex needs to be ground balanced
It was. Look at 4:22 in the video still chattered, its a single fx vlf. It did "ok" not going to compete with multiiq and Equinox. Not by FAR
@@Bootyhunter1971 it wasn't ground balanced correctly...2 pumps a beep and then stop and let it balance in stead he continued to pump the machine like you would the equinox which is understandable...secondly the manual calls for it to be set at 0.00 for the beach look at the 4:29 mark when he is done balancing the machine incorrectly it is clearly not set at 0.00 is it better than the equinox ? No it is not, but it doesn't cost 900 dollars either . A 250 dollar single frequency machine that can hold it's own with machines that cost twice as much and more....I think that's a winner.
Stephen Digs History you’re comparing apples and oranges here-a $250 machine against a $850 plus machine?
A more accurate comparison would be to stay in the price range and compare it to a Garrett Ace 300 ...and the Garrett would become a doorstop
@@ItsSusieQue96 Ok, lets compare it to the Minelab Vanquish 340 then. Pretty comparible in price, the Vanquish will smoke it in wet sand. No, the Vanquish cant be submerged, but the simplex wasnt in this video either. Im not knocking the simplex, its a fine detector, but just not for saltwater sand. The Vanquish will do much better head to head on wet salt sand.
Stephen Digs History every beach is different -each has different mineral content and salt levels. I watch some Brits using the Simplex pulling some incredible stuff from the beaches there and have friends here in different parts of the states doing the same. As far as I’m concerned, the jury is still out. I wanted a good all around detector waterproof and beach worthy on a senior citizen budget and I’m quite pleased with the Simplex on ALL counts..
there is supposed to be a firmware update that fixes the beach chatter
Since frequency on the beach .Never!!!
I would like to note the Equinox 600 is more like $600 bucks, and it works the same on the beach as the Equinox 800. So compare a $600 machine to a $300 machine. And theres no comparison. The Equinox with multiiq eats the simplex for lunch, no comparison. Anyone spending time on a beach detecting would be wise to invest that extra money to give themselves their best chance. One gold ring walke over and missed in that chatter of the simplex but found with the Equinox would pay that $300 difference. 1 ring.
even i swing my coil on the water my coil still keep silent and only got small chattering sound.... 2 gold rings from under the water.... no problem at all
Like any machine it takes some getting used to but it’s a lot more powerful than the Garret ace 250 but a totally different machine
Hi can you do a test with the Simplex on wet sand, I just can't do wet sand with it, it goes mad showing signals everywhere. Would value your advice. x
Ground balance regularly!
Simple test , interesting machine the nokta, cheers gig .
It`s been said to drop the ground balance to 0.0 and it is suppose to cut the chatter.
This was the test everyones been waiting for. Great demonstration. Couple people mentioning firmware update for chatter. Curious if that will fix the problem? I still think its a great detector for a beginner or someone budget minded. The minelab vanquish looks good but the fact that you cannot put the control box underwater is a dealbreaker.
Agree!
"Firmware" not gonna fix the fact that its a single fewquency vlf operating in salt water sand.
I didn’t understand at the beginning why you didn’t ground balance and then go to beach mode...or why you did not change Frequencies to clear some of the chatter....you finally balanced at 4:25 BUT it works better if you ground balance in Park and then switch to beach before you start.
Thanks for doing the Simplex at the beach-all in all this machine has done me much better than the Garrett I sold after getting it.
When u ground balance in park the chatter is no more?
Im using the Nokta Makro pinpointer from Detect-Ed and it is working amazingly. You should check that out and maybe review it :)
great video thank you for sharing
Simplex does not impress me as a viable beach machine--can't compare to the Equinox. After all, it is a single frequency detector trying to perform as effectively as a multi frequency machine---won't happen. Too chatty and jumpy. One very big disadvantage for hunting the treasure coast is that in the beach mode it discriminates out all iron and there's nothing the user can do about that. You've now eliminated finding valuable iron artifacts from shipwrecks! Not good at all for us Treasure Coast hunters. I'll happily stay with the Minelab
Colonel Dan That is true
Hi Gigmaster I'm torn between the Nokta Legend, Deus 2 and Nokta Simplex . ..
Well, Ihope you're happy. you *made* me go buy a Equinox 600... hopefully i'll run into you at the oceanfront and you can show me how to use it!
Sounds like a plan. Healthy hobby!
Did you change frequencies to see if the chatter could have been from that?
J P’s mix yes
simplex on salt water beaches, will cause a beginner to quit, expected results from a single frequency vlf machine.
why
@Dove vlf technology does not work well with salt water, your better with a multi- frequency machine or a pulse induction machine.
@@jamesl4446 have any examples of those off the top of your head?
@@D3vine0n3 garrett sea hunter or minelab excalibur
@@larryy6467 I ended up going with minelab Vanquish 540
Thanks for the review. Unfortunately this machine is not a machine for me. The price is good but I’m gonna stick with Minelab.
I want to get a Simplex next but wouldn't take it to the beach. Durable build, I like the flashlight and broad range of vdi. Nox 800 owner.
You got a good backup if either has to be repaired!
Lol. That thing would drive me crazy. I have a red racer & a racer2 and they are nothing but chatter boxes. I bought a box 600&800 and never looked back
steely dan
I used the racer 2 at the wet sand and it was stable enough to use it .
For a VLF .
He didn’t properly set anything on the machine, then took it out and compared it to a machine that’s been dialed in for that specific terrain over long term use. Hardly a fair comparison. I spent a couple hours watching videos of people who use it on the beach regularly and reading the manual, dialed it in don’t have the chatter even when using my pinpointer.
Funny how real world real non sponsored detectorist have completely different results from the Simplex. I do want one just to have as a back up but it shows it will not hold a candle to other machines the sponsored detectorist claim. GL&HH Matt
WildDigger I have no sponsorships from any metal detecting companies! I show it as I see it. (That being said I do make mistakes. Lol)
@@Gigmaster I like this unbiased review.
@@Gigmaster I think it looks ok
If u can't handle that never use a explorer it's most chatter machine I've used but u get used to it a signal is totally different from chatter ull know when u hit something simplex seems to run same looking at this video
how much is the price sir?
With chatter just change frequency and it will go without having to adjust anything else
So is it possible to reduce chatter to 0 in wet sand ? Simplex +
Nice job👍👍
chattering? no problem with my simplex and i just lower down until zero the ground balance and im good to go.... and i already found 5 gold rings on 6 to 9 inch dept.... just use the ground balance without lowering the notch
My money is on Buddy.
Now I posted this at the beginning of the video so let's see how I do.
stay in the dirt with that heater and you should be fine.
Güzel gezinti tebrikler
Great
Have you done the software update to this simplex? Any changes? Are you done with this machine? Interested in selling?
Have not done the update yet. Like the machine! Keeping!
Don't drop the sensitivity down until you have dropped the ground balance nearly all the way down, then try it!
That is not back ground noise to me. wow I run hot on most of my detectors.
ground balance please
I want one of those scoops. I'm ordering thru Gigmasters link.
Call and tell John I sent you he may give you a little extra!
@@Gigmaster I just placed the order online. I'll call tomorrow and tell him you sent me.
Thanks for all you do.
Hold the pinpointer button on the bottom left
Set ground balance
Lol you guys shouldn’t show yourselves covering that beer can back up instead of throwing it away.
Trick or treat I remember you 1978 doing the Halloween thing.
brian willoughby ?
@@Gigmaster yep!
Hi Gigmaster nobody is asking you how long can you stay underwater with the simplex + because somebody tell me I can only stay underwater for 20 minutes in I need to get out and for in other 20 minutes stay outside in go back in is that true.
I dont know of any time limit. Maybe someone else will chime in on this?
@@Gigmaster sounds good thank you so much for getting back to my question and love your videos keep it up and thank you again. Good day🤙.

Ok I thought they were made in turkey ,
Looking at buying one so great video thanks. I seen reviews where they got rid of the chatter did U have any luck. Love to swap subs if U keen?
everyones been telling me to ground ballance to zero and no chatter in wet salt?
Yes

Hi✋😁👍
Change to one hurts your interference with the equinox
Good video but you are walking too fast and missing spaces between swings.
Me I don't like this simplx makes to much noise . I like mine a white's mx 5 .
Simpleks candır
Please, you had your mind set already on disliking the machine.
I like the machine it is my backup.
Definitely Simplex+ will never be my detector...i used to slide the plate over the sand. how could you hit a chain like that?
Dont even take the trash that's messed up
Do you by chance have one of the duff coils that are no good on wet ?
compare this UK person doing similar as your review
th-cam.com/video/wswyK8zDp9s/w-d-xo.html
He has no where near the chatter you have
Hope it helps as you might be chasing a problem that from a duff coil not the machine as a whole
The voice is just too loud on my ears I could not watch longer than a few minutes
