BEFORE COMMENTING PLEASE READ THIS. Yes I was not very good at scootering when I made this video. I made this ramp to improve, which I have a lot since I made this video. So if everybody could stop complaining about my scootering that would be great :D It just takes a lot of time to respond to all of the same comment over and over again. Thank you for watching my video :D
joseph arleo Nah your fine, it's not too personal. I can't talk about my other parent though cause the story is not finished unfolding, I hope that sentence makes sense. When I do a draw my life (I think someday I will be able too) I will (hopefully) explain that story though.
Well done! Anyone posting negative comments on your scootering is just a hater who doesn't have the initiative (or the means) to make their own ramps in order to get better. I'm 36 years old and watching this video to get tips on how to build my own quarter/half pipe. Well done to you, young man! Keep on scooting.
For the sides you should use pressure treated plywood, it will look like CDX that is green. Nasty stuff but it dose not rot. If it will be elevated off the ground you can use any exterior grade 3/4" plywood, CDX will be cheaper but wont look as good, I would recommend not using ACX tho. If you want a nicer ply I would use BCX. here is some more info about plywood if you want to look at it: www.diyskate.com/info_wood.html
you are so smart, i kinda lost you in the technical stuff but amazing ramp! i would pay for one of those. and why TF do people go on about how "youre so bad at scooting" because thats the point in making ramps, to get better.... duhhhhh!!!!!! plus youre parents must be so cool!!! :)
Is the masonite needed or does it just make it smoother Also where do you buy the coping or whatever you called that metal pipe at the edge of the top of the ramp
It just makes it smoother, it is not necessary. For the metal look online for metal yards or metal fabrication places if you just need like 8' of steel go to a metal fabrication place. If you buy from a wholesaler you will need to buy it in 24' pieces btw. You should not pay more then like 1$ per lb I believe.
this is a sweet little build!! and makes riding progress so much easier in the comfort of your own driveway ahaha (have seen this is three years ago, youve come a long way since then!!!!) we just make a quater out of a few old trampoline frames and welded it together. used to have wood ones but the weather just destroyed them after a year and got sick of rebuilding them ahaha. metal frame should stop that problem
@@alexwaln1053 yeah its held up pretty good!! people were throwing them out anyway and with this whole virus thing, skateparks were closed ahaha. figured we'd may as well build one
Thanks! The ramp cost about 80-100$ at the time, it would be a little more now with new taxes. Regarding your other comment, the halfpipe would of cost about 51,500$ if it wasn’t for insurance. 1,500$ of that for the ramp, 50,000$ for the subsequent hospital visit for the broken bone lol 😂. Thank god for health insurance. But really though, it was about 800$ for plywood, 300-400$ for 2x4s, and about 100-200$ for screws and bolts. I got the coping for free, or else that would of added a bit more to the price. And as you can guess by the medical bill price, this is all in the USA, more specifically in range of a menards, Home Depot or Lowe’s will be 10-20% more.
The noises of him cutting to each time he drilled a screw in I was shaking my head like it was music. You should start a band bro you will call them the true tradie blues
Plywood, 2x4's, metal pipe or pvc pipe and a threshold material, preferably metal but iv'e heard plastic can also work, I'm going to make a more in depth video about making ramps soon :D
that ramp doesn't have a threshold but if you made a ramp that needed it I would use 11 to 8 Gauge sheet metal, go to a metal fabrication company to get it. It shouldn't cost a whole ton I'm guessing for a ramp,(It shouldn't be more then 20$ In the US) I get it from someone I know at a metal fabrication company, but they can normally get it for really cheap since they work there.
You know you could've had the metal shop cut the pipe for you or the hardware store so you didn't have to go out and buy a saw. Also how are you going to grind from one quarter pipe to the other?
Thank you for this I'm thinking of making a ramp coz I do scooters can you build a spine ramp because I'm thinking of building a half pipe with a spine in the middle
Lol ya, It is always kinda funny to see people that take time out of their day to h8 on other people. They must be REALLY board to take time out of their day to do that. (Unless it's for a good cause)
Good job man, very informative. I got it in my head today that I want to attempt to build a quarter piper this spring and i'll for sure be watching this for reference. You've probably already answered this, but how much were all the supplies(minus tools)?
You’ve probably seen me before but I don’t like seeing people hate on you don’t care about them Alex good videos and your smart as hell. ( how do you afford all your tools tho?)
Beat_Hazard111 Thank you! Ya, there is never a shortage of haters. Fortunately my mom finds phycology interesting, so she's thought me how to have some tough skin. One thing she would always say is, people that are satisfied w their life bring people up. People that aren't , bring people down. TBH it's really true. Btw I can't afford all the tools I use, a lot of them are my dads. You don't need many tools to do stuff tho, you can build a whole ramp just with a drill, a framing square, tape measure and a jigsaw. Fun fact, you can build a whole house with those 4 tools also, no joke, it's not easy, but definitely possible.
Thats awesome! The first thing of anything almost always looks ghetto, its just part of learning. Trust me, my first things did too. The great thing is, if you ever want to remake it, you typically just need new sides, and the surface. You can reuse the 2x4s generally
I started to watch this video and I didint watch Howe match you have subs and after I watched the video I thought you have 100.000 subs but you have only 1000 you deserv more subs!! Keep making these videos I love them bro🤛

Awesome! Been skateboarding for 16 years and just got two things to say. 1) Ignore the haters, you're doing a hella good job, and it doesn't matter that you scooter. We all the same and real skaters won't hate on a scooter rider. 2) Make sure to sand the edges where you cut the plywood! One close fall and you're gonna have the splinter of your life. Have fun and keep doing what you're doing man.
I know this is old, but did you make a custom build for your scooter because you should start out scootering with an Envy Prodigy Complete those are about $200. Just a tip, but the video is great! Keep up with what you do!

ButteryToast I actually got a really good deal on everything and only paid about 50 USD for the ramp :D
ur scooter is gay and u stink switch to bmx or skate boarding its better and are guy's sports not trans sports
Alex Waln ppppppp
+jack phoenix obviously if the x and skateboarding holds a lot douche bags like you, I understand why there is scootering.

Or they are mean and they dont care what he does :D
Just a quick tip, when you go down the ramp, lean forward more because if you lean back you'll fly out
Thanks :D Ya I can mostly drop in right on smaller ramps but for some reason my 3' ramp kinda sketches me out...
Calvin Quick I learned that the hard way
Kevin Merritt same
Just lean back, and do backflip
my first drop in was a slide in on a 6 foot quarter hopefully you get better
"Im gonna skate it now"... pulls out a scooter XD
Lol! I always wonder what I should call it. I would say "I'm gunna scoot it now" But that sound stupid, lol!
LostLV Thanks! That does make the most sense to say
lol
say im gonna scoot it
Manny Garcia right 😭

Ya rather use pressure treated ply wood
Alex Waln good thinking just lean forward going down a ramp and not back
you are super familiar with power tools even being really young, *congrats*

How much did the materials cost you ?
About 50$
Is the masonite needed or does it just make it smoother

Youre nice

Thanks :D for that video I think I just used a canon 70D with a canon 10-22 mm lens and a rode videomic pro.

How did the 4 wheeler move at 10:59
So this ramp is 3ft tall x 4ft wide with a 6ft radius? Curious cuz I'm making a similar ramp :D
Yes! Btw if it's 3' tall or taller I would recommend to make it at least 6'-8' wide. (unless its just a ramp to get speed)
why is he so much fun to watch and so awesome
Your going to have a skatepark in your backyard soon 🤣

I like that he builds a ramp he has trouble riding level your ramp to your comfort man
How wide were those bars
The only thing that would make this video better would be if he replaced the scooter with a skateboard
if people want to scooter they can scooter if people want to skate they can skate it doesn't matter unless your having fun

Forks: bit.ly/EnvyForks
Deck: bit.ly/LuckyEvoDeck

How thick is the osb??
It was 3/4 inch thick. I would recommend using just normal 3/4" plywood instead of OSB.

How much money did it cost to build it
I think about 75$ at the time. Now with the new tariffs in the US for wood from Canada, it would now be more around 150-200$.
Wow this is rlly impressive nice work

Your a beast!! How did you build that!!
Hey how much did all that cost because if I’m going to make one I have a budget
Is there a reason you scooter was like 300 dollars before you could drop a 3 ft ramp just saying. nice parts I'm running reaper bars as well
