I remember my first world so vividly. I built a whole city with my friends, we had houses, shops, farms, and even a really crappy man-made lake. I remember the exact layout of my house. I remember all the names of my 3 dogs (Rocky, Mavis, and Lydia). I even remember making so many intricate redstone contraptions. My xbox broke one day but I wanted to hold onto it for some reason. I stuffed it in the closet and forgot about it. 7 years later my dad found it after I'd moved out and asked if he could throw it away. I said yes. Biggest mistake of my life. I'll never be able to go back. Keep some of the things from your childhood because you'll never truly realize how much you miss it until it's gone.

@@zOOpygOOpert I totally agree with you. I actually did started playing in around 2011 or 2012~ somewhere at that time; and oh boy what a journey I had.. Let me tell you my little story..
When I first started playing in like 2011 I was (If I calculated and remember correctly) about 8 years old, and I remember my friend showed me this amazing game called "Minecraft" and we both got to my house to set up Minecraft and my friend showed me how to create a new world~ these sort of things!
And I've been playing Minecraft almost every day, months passed, YEARS passed and I think in 2015 my friend suddenly decided to leave Minecraft forever and he started hating on it..I didn't realise what the frick was up, but I was sad about him and confused... Anyways, I always continued to play Minecraft, I built HUNDREDS of houses, made a dozen different farm types and many more things since 2011!
I never left Minecraft! I always loved and I still love Minecraft! Even in the times when it was the leasr popular in 2016 and 2017 when Fortnite started to get many kids getting into a rage war against Minecraft, and some people started hating too...
But NOT ME, I WAS ALWAYS THERE FOR MINECRAFT!
This beautiful game is one of the best things ever in my entire life!
I was there for Minecraft at its hardest moments, I witnessed literally all the updates from 1.0 in 2011, all the way up to the 1.17 snapshots today!
And I will remain with this game forever! Minecraft is the best! I am still playing it today.
P.S: Now I am 18 years old, and I am moving on with my life... Thank you Minecraft for the amazing journey that still seems to happily continue!

I honestly don't think Minecraft's losing its charm with all its updates, it's just that we are growing up. I also started playing Minecraft around 2012, and I remember Pocket Edition being shite back then. Limited world sizes, no Endermen, no enchantments, etc., but it was fun playing with friends. I think it was around 2 years later in middle school that we learned how to play LAN, and you had to turn on the nether reactor core for nether stuff. It was fun because we were young, not because Minecraft was better back then. We didn't care how much or how little we had because we were playing it with friends and just having a stupid, good time.

I always tell people this, you live life once and it always goes forward never back. You could pass anyday and you need to live everyday as it comes. Everything is a memory and you’re the main character in your own life, make it what you want and enjoy every moment. That’s why I barely upload and the things I do upload are for memories. I’m not self promoting but you game everyday with your boys and you get off and forget most of it, that’s why I make the videos I do, to always remember those times. Life’s short live it to its fullest and enjoy every moment ❤️ much love

Nice, I grew up with minecraft Pe and 360 edition so i would always compare both, like how one was still in alpha and how xbox had hunger bar, exp bar and way, WAY more blocks than pocket edition, those where the days man.
I get what people liked old minecraft better, it was because it was simple. It dosen't help that the veterans of minecraft already know what to do in any new World they'll start.
And I think that's the reason most of us are coming back to play old versions of the game again, such as myself that went back to beta and started a micro series in reddit.

I'd have to say the nostalgia isn't just limited to childhood. I started playing the Minecraft Alpha in my mid twenties and often think about my old worlds and that feeling I had experiencing the open world survival genre for the first time. There was nothing like it at the time, and that's probably why it sticks with most of us as something special. But you're absolutely right, back then I had the time to enjoy it. Now there is just a mountain of responsibilities with the occasional moment to jump back in and relax.

I miss when you could actually find a server with like nobody on it, make friends with the owners, and slowly become part of the administration. But now even if you find a small server, they're pumped to death with pluggins with a Ping of -69
