I was reading some of the comments while you were explaining at the beginning and thought that after 5 minutes you were done... I was wrong.. your explanations were probably longer that this abridged version of the song itself... give her credit she’s no idiot... giving context I get... this was too much!!

Though I'd heard a lot of Meatloaf before, I think the first time I heard this through was for a rehearsal for a Magic Act I was hired into. The full 11-12 min version of the song. As you said, 'Beauty and the Beast'. 7 - 8 illusions, 4 hand tricks, and 3 disappearances. It was INSANE to say the least, so this song holds a special place for me. After a few shows of it, I ended up calling all the lighting/pyro cues DURING the performance as well. The gravity of a show like that, and not getting anything wrong and revealing something is intense. Literally needed a day off after the shows to recover mentally. Can't hear the song now without actually calling it in my head...and hoping no one is near the explosives that I can't see when I say GO!

I remember when my sister got this cd on her brithday when she was16/17 years (she's 5 years older than me)
Listen to this song so many times and it's still good and can't let go to tap to it!
There's also a song of Meatloaf and Marion Ravn (Norwegian singer) when they do " it's all coming back to me now " together ;)
    Liked this one :)

I remember commenting on when you did it on your own and saying it’s an amazing video and I love a bit of Meatloaf. I also think I said that there’s a guy who does a tribute show here in the UK and has Lorraine Crosby join him and sing this with him and a few other meat songs as well as getting her to sing a couple of Bonnie Tyler songs who Jim Steinman also produced a couple of albums for in between Bat Out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell 2.
Good on you Annie for saying Lorraine should have been on the vid and maybe listen listen to some other Meatloaf songs as well Annie and maybe some Bonnie Tyler stuff as well as Jim Steinman wrote and produced stuff for her as well.

They did the same bait-n-switch (Bat-n-switch?) with the female vocals/vocalist on the song that "started it all" - Paradise By The Dashboard Light from the 1977 Bat Out Of Hell album - The women heard on the song is Ellen Foley, but the woman appearing in the video was Karla DeVito, who actually does do vocals on other Meat Loaf songs (from lesser-known albums).

manager told him if he did the show, that he would never be able to recover from it because he played a bicker drag queen.

There is actually a chunk missing in the version of the video from the song. I have NEVER found a video version with this version in. it says thus-
Will you make me some magic with your own two hands?
Can you build an emerald city with these grains of sand?
Can you give me something I can take home?
    I can do that
    I can do that
This comes between the "will you hold me sacred, will you hold me tight" and "will you cater for every fantasy I got". The music changes so abruptly it's obviously cut.

With regards to the name Meat Loaf, his father called him "Meat" since he was a baby. Due to the fact, he was a large baby and very red when he was born and looked like a pile of meat in his fathers eyes. The Loaf part was added when he stepped on his football coach foot in high school, the teacher shouted "get off me you big meatloaf" and the nickname stuck. Although he insists that "meat" and "loaf" are two seperate words, and he preferred to be called just "Meat"

If Jim Steinman ever wrote a commercial jingle the commercial would end up being three and a half minutes long, contain destruction, conflict, an epic romance, and a purchase.

I don't know if 14 is too young for that "music is life changing" moment, but I hope not. It's great that you're exposing her to such a wide variety of artists and styles. There's nothing quite like that moment when you finally click with a group, or a song, and it actually changes you in a fundamental way. I think for me it was hearing "How Soon is Now" by the Smiths back in 1987. It was one of the first times that a song really spoke to me in a way that no others hadn't. I was only 18 at the time, and still trying to figure out who I was as a person.

The Female Vocalist on this video is English singer Lorraine Crosby , She later in 2013 auditioned in The Voice UK and sang " Midnight train to Georgia " and despite doing a good job none of the 4 chairs turned for her the judges were Will.I.am , Jessie J , Sir Tom Jones & Danny Donoghue from The Script . th-cam.com/video/M0kI1_Y9-3A/w-d-xo.html

Meatloaf sang a song in Rocky Horror Picture Show, in fact he sang a song they didn't think could be finished but he did, it is there on the net if you look for it both the song and the story, don't expect anyone to believe me but I do hope they would check before any put downs.

lady who song on this song is from the u.k ,wales they asked her to be in the video but she declined because she thought she wasnt pretty enough but she regrets not being in the video because of how succesful it became n the model in the video gets all the credit as they think its her singing.

Actually he was making big videos and live Broadway show spitical concerts before the tweeny Taylor Swifts lol. And Meatloaf was a band not just him. As the female singer shared co-lead vox on most if the songs.

  • @paulmaxey6377

Good reaction but only thing I don't like is the dad explaining his thoughts of the song beforehand. If it a 'fourteen year old reaction' make it a 'fourteen year old's reaction'. The problem with putting your view of a song is that everyone has a different view of a song, that is why some of the old singers didn't like videos because it put a idea of what the song was about in the listener's mind. It would be better if she listened to the song put her reaction and view of the meaning of the song THEN have the dad's opinion and discuss the different views. Plus let her listen to the song instead of keep chirping in with 'oh this part always gives me goosebumps' not really important, let her listen to the song. Just a bit of friendly criticism lol.
Just as a side mention: The female singers on the studio album and on the live shows were different (on the first Bat Out of Hell album at least). The woman who sang on the album couldn't or didn't want to tour with the band so a replacement singer was found. As far as I know though the new singer did sing and not lipsync during the shows.
