    Hey mate it’s not the heater it’s the length of ducting your using on such a low setting if you turn it up to at least half speed then the fan will be able to disperse the heat but because it’s on low too much heat stays close to the machine and it can’t push it away also raise your ducting so that the fan doesn’t have to push hot air downwards before it goes upwards and the heater will stay at normal temperature running speed. When you have a long run of pipe work ducting the fan loses velocity so most people run them faster but leave a window or screen open to get rid of the extra heat produced. It’s especially imperative that you never lose 12 volt power to that heater when it’s running not even for a second or the heater will turn off and the fan stops and all that heat inside the heater can damage or melt your control board inside the heater and the fuel already inside the heater will start to burn off as smoke pouring out of everywhere in the heater so put proper battery terminals on the heater positive and negative 💨
    Also that black air intake filter is rubbish and not actually a filter you should buy a proper filter that stops the bugs coming in. If you want to keep the black thing then wrap some mosquito fly screen around it.
    Most importantly if you run your heater on low all the time without running it on high for a minimum of at least 20 minutes then the chamber will block up with carbon buildup so run it on full before turning it off . 👍
    When you are at home test your heater again on half setting or full setting and it should be fine and you won’t get error codes.
    I have 4 heaters and one is the same enclosed heater as your one ( the heaters are all the same) if you need any advice just flick me a message. I have a 5kw one that I run every night at my house in the wall it runs on full for around 14 hours everyday it’s been running every day for 5 months. If I turn it down to half or on the lowest setting I always run it on full speed again for thirty minutes to an hour before turning it off and it runs like a dream. I also put the tiniest amount of diesel injector cleaning in each tank ( 10 litre tank on my home one ) and that keeps the glow plug and inside the burn chamber nice and clean.

      Thank you for clearing some things up for me. Your advise confirmed my suspicions on why it was overheating. After doing some research about it, I began doing that same process after every use, running it for 20 to 30 min on high to burn off any build up in chamber. I bought a pair of proper battery terminal clamps, so that's now taken care off. Diesel injector cleaning is a great tip, I didn't really think about that. Thanks. Your comment deserves a pin to the top.

      Hello hope you doing well can you pls help me to find right batteries for 5kw heater and how to trun off the heater correctly outside malting anything in the heater
      One more thing it can be run by 2000W generator aswell or not
      Kindly reply Thanks

      tasty foodie hi if you buy a 100 amp hour deep cycle battery that will be okay ( remember in theory your only using half= 50 amp hours from the battery) your battery will last longer if you don’t run it lower than 50% . You can’t run the heater directly off a generator it has to always be connected to fixed 12 volt battery power it’s okay to charge the battery while the heater is running but a generator can’t be the only power source. If you run your heater on low over night make sure you turn it up on high for at least the last 30 minutes in the morning before turning the heater off and that will burn 🔥 off any carbon buildup inside the burn chamber. 🙂

    It may also help to shorten your duct to the tent even more and put it in the tent low, (since heat rises) at the door. You can use your zipper to close the space around the duct and hold it in place. Another thought to keep the unit cooler would be to take the red shroud or cover to a local specialty metal shop and have them cut some louvers in the bottom of it around where the hear sits. This would allow some air flow through it as it runs.

    You need to pair the remote, to the unit, it will show an icon when up and paired. You have the air intake hose going out where most exit for exhaust. No worries, many variations for install, but I agree your exhaust install is a problem.

    • @JeeperGear
      @JeeperGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, reason for routing the intake like that, in my mind the thought process is, if i was to put the exhaust there, next to main heater air intake. It would pull exhaust co2 and push to heater coil and then to tent interior.

    Very informative thx. I added a very long exhaust to mine to keep the fumes away from the air intake. Nice camping spot!

    Doesn’t the controller act as the thermostat, and should be inside the Tent.. to allow it to throttle down after it gets to your set temperature, allowing it to draw less amps...?

    Hi, I need to extend the 12v wiring out the back of the heater...do you know what size wiring i would need?

    • @tinstar5080
      @tinstar5080 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used 18 gauge wire to extend my controller about 8'. No issues.

      @Do One Good point, agreed for the battery positive/ground wires and make sure you fuse the positive near the battery.

  • @ramenbob4242
    @ramenbob4242 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    the whole body needs to be in the tent and the exhaust and combustion intake directed outside it the controller is the thermostat is on the body and if outside it just runs continuously even at lowest setting

    • @JeeperGear
      @JeeperGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      no thats not necessary, just the controller. Since it contains the t stat sensor for the temp.

  • @Persian5word
    @Persian5word 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Also why dont you put the duct in through the door zipper? Why you take it all the way up the tent??

    • @JeeperGear
      @JeeperGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For my tent It made sense to go through the top, as I wanted the heat distributed more evenly and not have one corner more hotter than the rest. Besides it felt nice, having warm air coming down.

    How many volt can this heater consume in 8 hours of use with a battery full of charge? Planning to install one on my 2016 RAM 3500 which come with tow batteries. Thanks

    • @JeeperGear
      @JeeperGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be more acurate, it consumes about 1-1.5 AH per/hr so its roughly 12 amp-hours in 8 hours.

    Could you use this to heat a garage or not enough power? Also, how hard would it be to weatherproof that box?

    • @JeeperGear
      @JeeperGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its got enough juice to warm up a one car garage. As far as weather proofing, i would use it in a some sort of enclosure, if you need it to last for a while.

      We were camping on the side of mt hood so at night it got down to 45 on the second night. Nights were in 50f and days at 90f. So at sundown you can feel the drop in warmth real quick. For us it turned out pretty comfortable at night, in comparison to some that just slept in a tent. We gave them our extra sleeping bags to stay warm.

    Read the manual man. You're using a cheap Chinese product... you cant expect it to work like a German webasto heater... if your patient its not a really bad heater... i have the same one... saying this based on experience ;)

    • @JeeperGear

      Oh yeah I 100% agree. Just takes some finesse to figure them out. Other than that it's a solid little heater for the money.

  • @TheAvkdutch

    voltage draw is useless info and why is you heater a million miles from the tent. Hint if the hose that comes with it is short then you maybe should keep it close to the tent. What a noob. Also the air intake is actually the cooling fan and that black hose with the cylinder on it is the intake .

    • @JeeperGear
      @JeeperGear  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It keept out tent carbon monoxide free.
      The black air intake hose is for the combustion chamber, metal 3/4" hose is the carbon emissions exhaust. Which you shouldn't keep near.
      The 3" intake pulls air in through airtronic unit to the heat exchanger then to that 3" exhaust that travels hot air to the tent.
      HINT: As I have metioned, later I reprogramed it to higher rpm rate, to accommodate a longer heat hose. This way I don't have to hear it ticking or smell the burn off and it flows sufficiently enough to avoid e05 overheat code from popping up again.
      Heres a link to a basic diagram of how the unit operates, so you can avoid a noob moment and accidentally get carbon monoxide poisoning.
