Thank you for the video. Great source of workflow. One tip though - there is no need to go to Photoshop just for the frame. Stay in LR and go to the Print tab, under layout you can adjust a frame for your image and then don't "export" the image, stay in the Print tab, and "Print to file" instead.
My two cents, your editing videos are some of my favorite videos. They teach me a lot and you're a pretty good teacher. Please reconsider stopping your editing videos. It's not just the editing portion that is so educational it's the time that is spent explaining what was done on location or in camera to give you the proper photo to work with. That shit is priceless! 👍🏾
Hmm possibly! Haha idk they just never really seem to preform the way id want them to (metrics wise) but if I feel inspired to pass some information along like in this video I’ll make more!
I'd also add that the cinematic look leaves a healthy amount of information in shadow. I find that a lot of people, especially in wedding photography, love doing a "bright" or "fresh" look by lifting up the shadows, but the end result is very photo-looking as opposed to something you'd naturally see in cinema, if that makes sense.
I was learning about cinematic photography this entire weeks try to figure its out how to make photo with cinematic looking.suddenly you make this video😂. What a coincidence.btw thanks
Need to adjust your 108% on the borders. 16x9 would be 104.5% and 108%. This is if you want even borders. Nice video. I can never get a handle on split toning like you can. Good job.
I would love to see more editing videos, man! They help inspire me to not only get out and shoot, but to go back and reedit some old photos. Keep it up!
I love the editing videos. Thank you for all the ones to at I have been able to watch. Because of people like you making videos like this, I discovered my love for photography. So thanks Evan.
Great video and I would definitely appreciate more like this. As a relative newcomer to Lightroom, it's super helpful to see how you achieve your style, which I love. Thanks again!
Awesome video Evan ! I only have one request, is it possible to share the camera settings that you set for each picture ? Every other tutorial video never add that tip.
oh so you are an honest youtuber i see.. i wish guys were more honest about the the "look".. alot of cinmatic is in the original shot , framing, exposure , etc etc...thats why so many ppl struggle with making good photos and videos because they think its something that happens in post
Maan, am i happy i discovered your channel. Beside the great quality of your fotos, videos etc. I think you really nail the narrative part... Yeah, quick feedback from your newest subscriber
Hello Evan, I am your great fan regarding in street photography and editing as well. You posted yourself portrait with great color grades with captains say searching for street photography in Nashville. Would you like to tutorial how you edit and changed to breathtaking after edited.
Cool video, thanks for doing this. Can't wait to try it out on some of mine images. The Car Wash, is that the one near the corner of Pharr Rd & Piedmont?
Yes and no. Film lets you preserve highlights much more than digital does, but is much less forgiving in shadows than digital. This lets you push your exposure higher(in camera) to capture as much shadow detail as you can, whereas you'd most likely blow out the sky on digital.
I was cautious to not state anything as a fact in this video, just simply showing how I do something. So feel free to elaborate to help anyone reading the comments 👍
If you want to view these example photos more in depth they are posted to my instagram @evanranft. Thanks for watching!

Can you make a review video for the cinematic pictures for this movie.
" The Lady Of heaven" 2M views at trailer

Finally someone who "doesn't sell smoke" and just state that most of the "cinematic" feel is achieved in camera. Good video

I think you add to the effect by having a light source opposite the camera, which is a look you use often. (And I like.)
I love the editing videos. Thank you for all the ones to at I have been able to watch. Because of people like you making videos like this, I discovered my love for photography. So thanks Evan.

The seconf photo is absolutly stunning, thaks for sharing your edit style. Peace!
Dude I’ve been waiting for this 🔥
Yo happy to hear it!!! Thanks for watching!
Photoshop also support applying LUTs to images. There are a few built in ones and it's easy to apply and then adjust as needed.
For sure!! for the sake of the videos simplicity I wanted to keep it all in Lightroom, but luts are great!
Thanks for this video. Very useful. I love cinematic photos.
I actually like your editing videos the most! I have a bunch of em saved and I use them for reference all the time
This definitely taught me a few things. Perfect video mate!
First time viewer of your channel. Sorry to hear you won’t be doing more of these types of videos.. you have a talent for this.

Maan, am i happy i discovered your channel. Beside the great quality of your fotos, videos etc. I think you really nail the narrative part... Yeah, quick feedback from your newest subscriber

We need more editing videos!
Cool video, thanks for doing this. Can't wait to try it out on some of mine images. The Car Wash, is that the one near the corner of Pharr Rd & Piedmont?
Nah it was actually in Tennessee when I was there a few weeks back! Appreciate you watching!
It's so rare to find editor with mature taste. Good job.
Hi Evan! That's a bit off-topic but do you use the Magic Trackpad with your iMac?
Both, trackpad for edits, mouse for browsing 👍
@@RanftEvan oh ok! Do you mean video editing or both photo and video editing?
2:04 so analogue photography has a better dynamic range?

Will you ever make a video shooting a film camera?
I have one about my first time using one! It was a few months back!
Can you make video editing tone like @monaris_ in lightroom with outdoor photo at day... please😭😍
There's so much in editing that's personal choice. Thanks for sharing...for the last time. 😂🥂
The Alexas are great, but they are certainly not having a better dynamic range than human sight..
when he talks he sounds he has 2 personalities haha
Photography Jurgen Klopp
All im using *clap clap* radio filter *clap clap*
where is your verified check mark ? wtf youtube
Is there a reason why we would want to make our photos look "cinematic"? Is this desirable in the photographic community?
i dont see anything cinematic about any of these shots they just looked over processed
you tnink your shots looks like movie? look at my @_samgin in inst
Too many words
those photos don't look cinematic... well, maybe like a bad color graded indie movie that sucks
so much misinformation in this video
