Don't ask me why I'm binge watching texas bbq videos as a Brazilian who's never been to US. But that whole culture is fascinating to me. I specially love that the people interviewd seem to LOVE what they do and don't treat as a job but as art. Brazilian BBQ is worlds away from it starting by the fact that we don't even use brisket here, rarely you see that cut for sale cause it's not seen as a prime cut so it's cheap but BBQers don't use it. Most bbqs here are just different cuts with lots of fat and done over blazing coal real fast like 30min. We love some garlic bread with the meat and we don't really smoke stuff.
Love that when Chris was setting up at 4:30am he was listening to Action Bronson.. A true chef/rap icon paired with another chef/iconic place. Love you both

Video production is amazing on this and really brought out how authentic Heritage BBQ really is. I live close to this place and let me tell you, once of the best BBQ places in California. Daniel and his crew are so nice and friendly and they do make you feel like you’re part of the family. They truly care about your experience at Heritage and that’s what sets them apart from the others.

Met Chris and the team last year and they're such amazing people that certainly correlates with the amazing food. Drove and left Los Angeles early and got into a line for one of the best briskets I've ever had. Definitely the best in California for sure. Also 8:00 mark shoutout to that Pumpkin Hill beat, I recognize that beat from anywhere. 13:45 Wild Canyon as well ooof. Noticed some other Sonic music but the Adventure 2 Battle is what hits my heart hard.

Met Daniel and his wife and some of the crew at a pop up at Riip Brewery in Huntington Beach a year ago. I'd been trying to get down to Heritage for the longest, but something always came up. After tasting his tacos and tri tip and sausage I made sure to put it higher on the priority list. I'm born and raised in Manhattan Beach, but I make it a point to drive down to Heritage. Worth the 60 miles drive. The food is amazing. Best BBQ in California no question. But Daniel and the crew really make the experience even better than just the amazing food. I wish all of them the greatest success. Super team, super food.

I've been using a Masterbuilt charcoal smoker for a couple of years, but am now starting to use a wood smoker. A steeper learning curve, but videos like these remind me of why I love doing it.
As a fellow Texan, you have my respect for bringing Texas barbecue to the unenlightened. But it's Texas tradition to throw a little shade a California though, so...... I didn’t realize this place was so revered. I walked in front of it about a year ago and I ended up going to another bbq place a couple miles away. Will have to check it out next time I’m in SoCal.
I lived in Austin TX for 8 years plus I smoke a lot of meats on my smoker at home. I can say this is by far the best brisket in CA. Definitely in the same realm as some top places in Texas. I drive down from LA a few times a year to indulge
You’re incorrect, there’s a few small places around California up in the sierras and just way out in the middle of nowhere that have the best brisket in the world. I’ve been to this place once and Texas many times and both are damn good but nothing compared to some of the small BBQ places I’ve been too in California.

Ive ate there its good but no michelin star... Ive tried bbq in missouri and was blown away how good it is... they glaze the ribs and cook it on a wood grill gives it a seared meat taste .... amazing they deserve 3 too me.. ive tried bbq all over cali atlanta but by far the best bbq states is missouri either kc style or st lious style ... arkansas by the tenn border was amazing bbq because you get seafood aswell there... there is very good bbq in alabama too!

Totally! I found out later that they opened right around the pandemic, all investors pulled out so Danny and his wife sold their home to get the capital to start the restaurant. I wish i knew that so i could have put it into the storyline of this video

Be proud of your own BBQ region. Every part of the country has a different kind of indigenous hardwood,to me thats a big signature,of regionality.We in the west have oak,and manzanita, both are the bomb.And if you can get your hands on mountain mohagony,mic drop moment,its the best I've ever used.

Try Moos BBQ in East LA, it's easily the closest brisket to Texas BBQ outside of the Lone Star State.
