  • Today I take you on a beautiful evening ride and talk about my plans for summer/autumn riding.
My name is Adam, I am 35 years old and I am a former marathon runner who shifted his focus on ZWIFT CYCLING.
Road to A is a channel focused on INDOOR ZWIFT RACING with the ultimate goal of reaching the A+ CATEGORY. Is it progression realistic? Maybe. I'll need to train a lot and lose a lot of weight, too. However, I believe the BIGGEST LIMITATIONS riders (and athletes in general) have are those they put on themselves and this channel is my way to prove that idea. If you feel like you are riding (or living) BENEATH YOUR POTENTIAL, you need to tag along! The destination is clear but the journey won't be easy.
Currently I am racing in B CATEGORY.

As for my ZWIFT SETUP - I am riding on a ZWIFT HUB ONE indoor trainer. Steering can give you pretty substantial advantage during the racing and for that I am using the ZWIFT PLAY controllers. I use these for virtual shifting as well and to make sure I'll be covered if they run out of battery or generally stopped working, I've got the ZWIFT CLICK as well. I am running my Zwift in 4K and using the ULTRA settings.

Very important: it is No Star domus :) Everesting: I did not do any structured training, but I was climbing as crazy, mainly Alpe. Did once a "double-kill", once a "triple-kill" , did the ueber pretzel (or prerzel - simply the longer version), 3 sisters etc. + I did for quite some months every day quite any climb portal available - just to learn pacing into hills and to understand what is acceptable Z2 for me and what is not. I tried to average 270-290 in my "peak" on those one-time climbs, as I knew it will mostly result into beating my PRs.
Tip I give for the Everesting itself: Once you arrive on top, do an immediate turn to descent. You will gain some time that I did not by basically not doing that round on top.
As to how I ate: litres and litres of energy/recovery drinks. Isostar energy bars (you can get them in Decathlon), few energy gels, plenty of bannanas. I think on the second last ascent, i may have eaten one or two slices of pizza and I also got need for salt, so I simply ate some chips.
During descents, I went off the bike to stretch, toilet or to put pizza in the oven, not off the bike ever for longer than 5 minutes. But don't be ashamed of getting off the bike. Use it to your advantage. Went for 190-220 avg power, as I knew this should be more than maintainable for me for long period of time. My personal best on Adz is under 47 minutes, but I wanted to manage on Everesting always under 70, 3 or 4 times i did it around 60+.
And I promised myself a lot of beer if I finished. It is an amazing feeling once you're done. You can be proud of yourself If you do. It's especially about mental strength, the physical side is really not so much the problem. It's about: to finish, not about how fast.
    Ride on!

      Incredible tips, thank you!
I will do it at the end of June (or at least attempt it). The free challenge jersey is way too tempting.
