I think the initial design was done by a different guy, I forget who drew it but there's an earlier drawing that's way more Diaclone influenced, but then they brought Okawara aboard and while the silhouette remained largely the same, he details were pretty much done entirely from the ground up.
Another interesting fact is that the designer of Energon Wing Saber, Hirofumi Ichikawa, not only used Star Saber as inspiration, but also g1 Predaking.

There is an update of BW II Skywarp. It was in an Amazon exclusive two pack with an earth mode Sideswipe. Unfortunately being just a retool or Airrazor, it doesn’t combine.

Just like on yours, the left robot leg on my Victory Leo gets rather stuck when attempting to extend. I think it’s an issue on most or all copies because both of mine have also had it.
Both my Leo’s were also the same in that the wings did not yellow, despite the back, arms and legs doing so. I think the wings are made from a slightly different material.
You are missing the best looking mode of combined jet mode. It’s massive & it will good to display, while haslab will be in robot mode for me by x’mas😁
I do find it a shame Victory Saber is only Saber with boots, a wing pack and a gun. I kinda wished he atleast had arm extensions to fit the boots or atleast the arms of Victory Leo formed soldier cannons so they weren't just kibble.
Will or do you have a video showing how to repair / clean the joints? Making them sound smoother and tighter. I would love to see that since I want to get one of these in the future to go with all my other victory star sabers I have. I know Toy Hax has stickers to fix that problem. But cleaning and fixing the joints would be nice to see a step by step video. Thanks for a great video.
I have personally never understood the fascination behind this duo. Especially there conmbined form as like you said it's just shoes & a back pack when there are other combiners that do so much more & look so much better. Long as you enjoy it though that's all that matters 😁😁😁
Maybe because they are so different compared to other combiners from G1, for example, look at Optimus as Power Master, it takes Optimus and makes him look fat, thou putting God Bomber on really helps improve the look a bit, with Victory Saber, you got a robot, within a robot, who then becomes a chest and head of another robot, then you just addon a lion who also a robot and has a space ship alt mode (sort of, kind of) and increases his height, yet what makes Star Saber really stand out, is the fact he is using a sword instead of a gun, sure Fortress Maximus uses a sword but its how he debuts in the anime taking out two cons with his sword power, as Victory Saber, you are looking at a big robot, wearing shoes, having wings sticking out and a pair of guns on top, while the other combiners, are mainly build a big robot and have not much else going on in combined form! Of course, you can just look at Star Saber and think he is Optimus prime as a Space ship instead of a truck!

I wasn't able to back the HasLab Victory Saber - part of it was that there was other stuff I was tryna get, part of it was that I had almost completely forgot about it. Anyway, I have MP24 Starsaber - the first and oldest MP in my possession. Won it in a contest on a Facebook group back in 2015. Nothing I've gotten since has been able to take the title of my favorite MP from it. Still need to get the Keith's Fantasy Club "Simba" (Victory Leo), along with the elbow & knee upgrade kit and the articulated hands, though. Seven years with this McBeast, and there's only one thing that I don't like: the locking mechanism is a pain in the nuts!! It's fine when you combine Saber's jet mode with the V-Star, no real problem there. But going into the combined Starsaber mode?? Annoying as all hell.

I had the "RobotMaster" version of these two years ago. Slightly smaller than a deluxe figure. No ratchets. I thought the "Visible Head Syndrome" on the smaller figure was an oversimplification of the full-size figure... evidently not...
So what's the deal with the legends last knight Megatron? Did they make one? I am not aware of one (though I'm barely aware of anything outside of what I own)
Really sad that you had to back a haslab fundraiser to get a non-MP Star Saber and along with the added cost of having Victory Leo. It makes it impossible to get him out here, without even accounting how much it would probably cost to middleman it at all. I would have totally bought a $50-$65 figure of just Star Saber.
I only had like 200$ to my name my sr year at my military college when it was the last chance to back legacy Victory Saber, and I didn’t back it because I didn’t want to be broke for the month. I deeply regret not backing it, and I will pay scalpers for it MSIB if I must
There are no scalpers for this, scalpers are people who buy up all the stock to artificially inflate the price, you can't do that with this figure so the prices are just aftermarket demand
Sorry for replying like a weirdo a year later but this is a common problem with G1 Sabre. Ive heard of people using a bit of Blue Tac to hold the head down. Its a problem with the spring being too.

If you ever do a restoration, you should do a guide on how to do it. I got an old Tribomber that could use some cleaning up, I just don't know how.
