A lot rain from that tropical depression. Here in SE Texas we're still recovering from the wind damage from Hurricane Beryl. Some towns without power for weeks.

There was some major flood damage in my town a few years ago. One section was because of a major drain that wasn't cleaned. It flooded the first floor of a motel and cars along with other stuff.
Hey Bealy Good! Glad you got the pump going again. If you can check the elevation of the lower pool it would be interesting to see if it has raised at all. The ground water pressure is pushing up from the bottom and can literally float an empty concrete pool. You should consider filling it if another hurricane blows through before you get it completed. Be careful with that empty pool. If you've never seen one float, make sure you don't. I've seen a 20'x40' gunite 9' deep pool 4' out of the ground. Pumping the water into the pool isn't the worst thing you could do until the water level around it goes down. We used to fill shells for the winter instead of letting them set empty.

Chris's drainage plan is working perfectly. People don't fully appreciate this because they haven't seen the more typical alternative.
Many ponds up where I live don't have spillways. They just have an overflow pipe. I've seen many ponds where the water goes over the dam.
