- Amazing craft wood turning projects for gifts or to sell. This is one of many easy woodworking projects that sell. I think this is a creative idea. This project was made from a cherry tree branch. The figure in the wood is amazing. I made two projects from one branch. A vase and a tealight holder that become a set. They are sanded from 80 to 400 grit and finished with friction polish made of shellac, denatured alcohol, and boiled linseed oil.
I hope you enjoy the video and it sparks your creativity. Thank you for watching!

Amazing work
Thank you!
I love the shape of the little tea light holder!
Thank you Charlotte!
I'm glad you like it!
What a beautiful project thanks for showing us .
Thank you!
Appreciate you watching!
Beautiful items. Love seeing the things you make. I miss having my lathe. I was just learning to use it then moved into a flat no room for it now.
Thank you!
That's to bad. Maybe you'll get a chance in the future.
Thanks for watching!
Very creative and good use of one piece of wood. Gives me some ideas. Might have asked this before: spindle gouge? Straight BLO?
Thank you! 1/2 inch bowl gouge and friction polish.
Awesome work as always….you keep cranking em out!
Thank you Lara!
Trying to keep up with my ideas.😃
I appreciate you watching!
cute vase & candle stand. What type of finish are you putting on them? It is very pretty
Thank you!
It's friction polish I make with shellac and finish oil.
Great looking pair Rus. You have great ideas, enjoyed your videos since finding your channel. I'm laid up from shoulder replacement, seeing these videos helps pass the time. Although I'm reall anxious to turn again. Thank you Rus, ....Dan.
Sorry to hear that. Hope your back at it soon.
Thanks for watching!
Very nice. Great use of a colorful piece of wood. (And thank you for not contaminating your video with a music bed!)
Thank you very much!
Two beautiful works of art. I’m still fascinated watching you work left handed and parting off with a skew chisel. But I’ve mentioned that before 🌞
Thanks Ray!
Ya...you should probably stop. I've reached the last notch on my hat.😁
Love your work, always very clever but simple ideas, awesome.
Thank you Michael!
I try not to over think it...but that doesn't always work.
Love your work and what a great eye. What finish are you using?
Thank you! I appreciate that!
The finish is friction polish made with shellac.
@@RcWoodturning 👍
These are perfect projects to teach my grandsons thereby getting them ‘hooked’ on turning. By the way, it looks like it’s time to clean your lathe motor before it burns up like mine did.
I hope the enjoy!
Thanks for the heads up. Sometimes I forget about the maintenance.
Appreciate you watching!
Love how you can turn common wood into such beautiful works of art.
What do you use to make your finish?
Thank you
John
Thank you John!
I use shellac, denatured alcohol, and your choice of finishing oil.
@@RcWoodturning what are the ratios in your mix? Really like this project …. Piece of art 🤠🇨🇱
This is a situation where left handed is better. I like that I get a good view of what the chisel is doing.
Beautiful! How old was the wood? Was it dry?
Thank you!
It was dry. I've had it for a couple of years.
Could off saved yourself a lot of time and effort. Just buy triming the log down first.
That's true, but I enjoy the process.
No dust extraction, shame on you
That's a very good idea.
@@RcWoodturning I guess I can’t say much either. When I started turning, I started totally green. I didn’t know which tools to buy, that you were supposed to use a face shield and respirator, let alone dust collection. I didn’t even know if I would stick with turning or not. All of that stuff comes in time in my opinion. But you’re right, it’s a good idea.
looks dangerous
Ya. You have to pay attention.
Thanks for watching!
