Dude, so much respect for sharing this. My mind = blown. I finally have the answers to the questions that have been nagging my mind since i started surfing, thanks to you.
I'd love a short vid on thruster vs Quad. Specifically, the very basic reasons why you might alternate on the same board when it has five boxes. My shaper wants me to add two boxes to the last board he made having watched me surf my local. What will the benefit be? Escape the lip, get down the line quicker with a bit more speed and hold after take off? And how does a quad affect your vertical turns so you know what to expect?
Noel, just an idea, you can take it or not if you want. Love your channel. think it’d add a bit more variety if you grabbed an old school / vintage board every now and then ( twin, tri, or single short board ) and tested It out and reviewed it. Could be real interesting and add something new instead of new surfboards. Just a thought. You can point out their flaws and attributes, what surfing gained from that particular board in the evolution of design ( say Vee, canted fins, whatever)…. A lot of those boards ride real darn good and they’re cool. It’d be interesting for sure.
Super helpful and informative Noel, as usual! I would love to get your thoughts on fin size. I think it's presumed (maybe just by an uninformed me) that bigger waves/bigger person = larger fins but I think there is more to it than that. I switch between medium and large fins but I don't have to skill level (or consistent waves on the east coast) to ascertain the differences. In general I feel like I move faster with medium fins, even paddle easier. But I'm also a bigger guy (6'2", 190lbs) so should I be sticking with a large fin?
I think what you like about Medium fins is less drag in the water. So a medium fin feels loose and responsive due to less fin in the water. It has less overall fin area and the fin doesn’t go as deep into the water compared to a Large fin. So you can put your board where you want quicker. However a Large fin offers more resistance (pushback) so when you feel that stiffness you can push harder through turns and generate more speed. There is a fine line here…. Sometimes a Large fin can make a board feel too tight or stiff and make it hard to turn quickly and that’s why a Medium fin feels better. With all this being said that’s why I designed my own fin templates. Check them out here… nothing like them. surfnshow.com/products/surf-n-show-thruster-rakes
Hi Noel I’m looking for a 2 + 1 twin fin set up for my rocket wide . What do you think would be the best option in futers out of the AMT twin honeycomb or AMT twin alpha (a bit cheaper) Would either one be ok on the rocket wide ? Thanks very much for all your great info

So you’ve been talking about daily driver, high-performance board, groveler, more liters u have easier to catch waves but same shapes with bigger board, ur basically sacrificing turn ability and top to bottom performance?
Hey Noel. Great video, as per usual. What is your opinion on mixing fin types? For example sticking Large Accelerators on the side, and a medium performer in the middle? Say on a groveler in 2-4 ft surf, as a large guy (6'4" 200).
I do this on my everyday hi performance shortboard with fcs2 AM fins on the sides, and a reactor center fin (more pivot than the performer and am2) but with all mediums.. board feels great and refreshingly different. never thought to use a smaller center fin for more slide in the tail, though. i really ought to play around with the fins more.
Another great review Noel. Do you have a preference in fins (Raked, Pivot or Neutral) when riding a daily driver board with small channels like the Peregrine. I'm riding a 5'8" swallow with channels (I'm 5'7").

Thanks Noel for the reviews! Super helpful, and your input has helped me find both boards and fins that maximise my surfing. Nick Hewett NEO Performers will pivot and carve well but they might have too much flex and offer inconsistent turns. Maybe go MF NEO Carbon and if they feel tight put in the AM center fin to loosen it up and offer a little more release. A better option is to put in the Al Merrick Twin plus Trailer on the NB2. Excellent speed, pivot, and drive. If you don’t have those then try whatever Twin + Trailer you do have.

Should I buy a S rear or a M. I'm 141 lb. Thank you very much
Get S rears
Thanks Noel. I'd like to know if you've ever compared the cant angles of your Futures fins? I'm trying to find a brand with slightly more cant than Futures' standard 6.5 degrees; I think Captain Fin might use more, but I can't confirm. Can you tell if your Dane fins have more cant than your AM2's? Thanks again Noel!
I'm running R6 legacies in my Proformance Driver and love it in good 4-8ft waves so I'm trying to get a step down fin for weaker/smaller conditions. Think I should go with the HS2, F8 Alphas or P8 honeycombs?
F8 Alphas
uuugggghhhh!! Too many choices!!!!
Ripping Noel. Any word on a Slater FRK review?
WorthyBear97 I just got one two nights ago. We have waves in the window too!!’ Hang tight
Futures Controllers are recommended for Lost Hydras…but they are reccommended for lighter surfers…so large tech flex futures?
Not a fan of the Controller’s. I recommend the Pyzel 5 fin set
Hi Noel would you fit the lost sub driver in this category? I’m struggling to find the right fins for it
Luiz Lemes It has a bit more performance compared to the RW. What fins have you tried and what type of waves?
Surf n Show Reviews I’m current using a set of fcs performer medium in 2 to 4ft surf in bigger condition a don’t feel much drive im thinking about the am air core in size large btw I’m 5’10, 175 pounds the board is a 5’10 bro dims 28.5 lts
Luiz Lemes AM Large Air Core sounds good. 28.5 liters sounds good for upper end intermediate/advanced surfer.
Surf n Show Reviews thanks for the advice ! Your show is the best
What do you think about the fcs quad keel MB find paired with the lost puddle fish?
ModestReaction I would give it a try... I don’t surf a lot of Keel fins but they should be fast.
@@surfnshowreviews7777 many thanks would love to see you test those out!
great info! thank you sir!
Where is the episode 3" daily driver" .. I surf beach break .. fat waves. With a 5'6 short board. Should I choose a "Large pivot" fin?
Yes... Large pivot fin
@@surfnshowreviews7777 thanks!!! And I have a 5'9 3dv by Dhd for bigger days.. would you recommend a AM1 or AM2.. or still a Large pivot fin?

Hey Noel, I ordered a 5'9 small wave performance board for the summer. I am thinking about maybe getting the Futures Vapor Cores in P8 or F8. I wanted to know what you think of the Vapor Core Fins?
The VC fins are good. If you are surfing quick Beachies and you want quick pivot go P8
@@surfnshowreviews7777 Thanks Noel! Appreciate the response.
Can you post the link to EP1 for finding the right fins for a growler? Plus is there an EP3 for HPSB?
dude you surf soo good!
Hey Noel, bit late to this video but what would you or anyway recommended fins wise for a 5'11 Blak box 3 with FCS 2 fin box surfing mainly 1-4 foot
sammy I did the review on the BB3... check it out. I like the Large Rectors for that board in 1-4’ surf
@@surfnshowreviews7777 Thanks Noel!!

At 5'9' 150 lbs what do you think about the pyzel 5 fins in medium to go with my Pyzalien 2 when it arrives?
Richard Thiele Absolutely
Noel what do you think about Futures Thermotech fins? I could get my hands on a single set of Honeycombs (AM1s), or two different templates of Thermotechs (AM1s and F6s)
JorgeAndresCoppiano. I have no thoughts at this point. Sorry I have not tried them yet. I hear good things about them though. Can’t go wrong with the AM templates and I like the F6 template too.
Surf n Show Reviews wrote Futures and told me the flex is similar to Alphas. But less spring back. Idk is as flexy as Blacksticks
JorgeAndresCoppiano. Blackstix has more flex and spring back compared to Alpha from my experience.
Surf n Show Reviews, just got through my email and just like you said, Cole from Futures said they flex between the Speed Generation series and the Honeycombs. And also with less “spring back” than both the Honeycomb and Gen Series
JorgeAndresCoppiano. Yewww! Good to hear the Folks at Futures are on it with their feedback and comments. Priceless info to make a good decision!!! Cheers
Nb2 look best in small wavs when you surf..whay js bb2 never reviewed?
X -MAN X MAN I asked for it but the folks at JS never sent it. Looks sick though.
Never mind.tnx

Hey Noel
First of all, thank you for your videos, keep up the great work!
I recently bought a lost driver 2.0 (6.1', 30.15L) and it felt good on some waves (3-6ft). I used my every-day fins (Shapers AM1 carbon stealth, riding Nr. approx. 5.5), but in some sections i felt too stiff. I usually ride my boards smaller and with less liters (5.11', 29L), but i bought the driver 2.0 for smaller summer days, so i don't lose performance. I weigh 166 lbs and i'm 6.3'. So what do you think, if i try the Legacy P8, to make the board looser? Or do you have other fins in mind?
Cheers
Kevin
The P8’s will go good but I think you will freak on my Pivot Twins. Nothing out there like my fins. Check them out here…

Noel! So then the RW and the Sampler are both Small Wave Performance Boards right? Also, have you tried out Dane’s Captain Fins? They’re honeycomb like you like them.
JorgeAndresCoppiano. Yes love Dane’s fins. Yes, Sampler and RW are small wave performance short boards

Andras Wu Yes... just older model. It looks sick to me

Thanks for that!
If there have 3 surfboard Im looking for:
5’8 Omin,
5’6 hypto krypto (older one)
5’9 Simon’s Nomad,
which one would u recommend for 3-6ft beach break in intermedia skill? Thank you so much!!
Andras Wu Cymatic... I wouldn’t choose any of the 3 boards your looking at. Cymatic blows doors on the Omni. I haven’t ridden the other two models.... so no opinion.
Noel any thoughts on the FRK?
jmlee84 I just got the 5’8”... feels good under my arm. Have not tried it yet though. I have 5’9” coming too. Stay tuned
