Overtime the copper will change colors. We took Pretty Penny to Japan a few years ago and they left the buggy in the open salt water air and the wheels turned green.

And for all of you soft off-roaders out there, one piece of advice: go rock crawling, it seriously amps your off-roading skills. I stumbled upon your channel via rotary roadster and 500hp mini, and I loved how it was no bullshit and real driving, but I must say with this video I got toatally hooked. I have been racing cars, driving motorcycles and offroading all my life, and you have real skills and eyes for where to put your wheels. I love it
For the first it looked to me more like bouncer then crawler. But once you started to describe it especially quite small engine and portal axels .. I got more and more excited. That's seriously pretty sick and very well made bugy. I like it.

Seeing that Saguaro reminded me of two friends that were killed one weekend after running head-on into a saguaro in their buggy. Buggies are always a blast. My admiration of them begin watching Mickey Thompson out running the chase helicopter at over 140mph while flying off 20-foot Cliffs in his buggy. That he had equipped with four foot airplane shocks the long travel air shocks did not exist yet. Then the buggies morphed you're in the mud bogging craze of the 80s. I had a76 Toyota truggy I built in 1980. It was two wheel drive on 36 in by 17 1/2 wide dick cepek fun country. I eventually went with paddles in the back once I could afford them. There were no real prerunners in that day. Mine was way ahead of its time with its dual shocks and running 14 inch travel Gabriel hijackers. The toughest air shocks at the time. I had a air compressor tank and solenoids to force my articulation. It wasn't until the 90s when Shannon Campbell took notice and he was leading the new rock buggy craze that started in 96. After seeing what I had done with my 1980 four wheeler, same as my 76 two wheeler. The long travel nitrogen shock was born. Now back to the mud bog The Rock buggies today are equipped with a little more travel but aren't much different than those mud buggies except for weight. Things once again appear to be getting heavier not lighter very strange weight breaks and slows uphill momentum along with acceleration. My airplane has 16 in of travel on Fox air and many other cool goodies yet my empty weight is at 467 lb even has a supercharged 2300 type 1. You could take a hammer to the skin and not Dent it, as its Foam & S glass composite. Aluminum frame with heavy gussets.

I just re-watched again since the first time I was fixing breakfast. I heard this time you saying that Shannon had built your own buggy that's cool. Didn't mean to name-drop. My acquaintance with him would have been in the early to mid-90s. Most I talk to have never heard of Shannon. But I've never done Rock competition either. Just Arizona and Colorado trails. Which among the thousands of replies you doubtedly read, you replied to my extensive description of Arizona Trails a couple months back. Yeah I've been around, I'm ancient! LOL When you grow up on a ranch you're forced to be resourceful. Started driving at 8 years old. And started flying gliders at 14. But I've allways had my hot rods, off-roaders, Show vehicles and planes. Participated in a few short desert races. And did mud bogs for nearly 3 years, before I moved on to other interests. But I have boonie bashed my entire life. And flying nearly as long. Mostly Bush planes. And although I still have my mini monster 80 Toyota 4 x 4 with its Marlin crawler. All I do nowadays is build and fly in my spare time. I have cartwheel a Toyota 4x4 twice at over 70mph. , Another time Barrel rolled three times at 50. And crashed a 250R 3-wheeler face first into a cliff at close to 80mph while racing. Surgeries cost tens of thousands of dollars for that one. LOL Been over the Rubicon. And rode from the Salton Sea through Glamis to the Mexican border in the Yuma sand dunes and back. All trails in Arizona. Even before they closed down most of them. that would include the only Trail that leads to the bottom of the Grand Canyon down lava steps. that entrance is through Utah. And probably is closed today. Nearly half the trails in the Colorado Rockies. And if there wasn't a road I'd either horseback or fly in if it was legal. The forest service has literally dozens of Landing strips in remote areas where there are no roads. And even if they don't, if the air space permits and it's not Wilderness or wildlife sanctuary it's legal to land anywhere it's safe. It doesn't have to be a road or airstrip. This can include mountain ridges or even sandbars in some States. Arizona's tread lightly law is a slippery slope. And it's technically illegal to put a tire of any vehicle in any water that doesn't have a road or Trail. Sorry I tend to babble. "The memories of an old man are the Deeds of a man in his prime."

The copper on the wheels makes sense as it looks even better scuffed up vs just regular aluminum.

I had a76 Toyota truggy I built in 1980. It was two wheel drive on 36 in by 17 1/2 wide dick cepek fun country. I eventually went with paddles in the back once I could afford them. There were no real prerunners in that day. Mine was way ahead of its time with its dual shocks and running 14 inch travel Gabriel hijackers. The toughest air shocks at the time. I had a air compressor tank and solenoids to force my articulation. It wasn't until the 90s when Shannon Campbell took notice and he was leading the new rock buggy craze that started in 96. After seeing what I had done with my 1980 four wheeler, same as my 76 two wheeler. The long travel nitrogen shock was born. Now back to the mud bog The Rock buggies today are equipped with a little more travel but aren't much different than those mud buggies except for weight. Things once again appear to be getting heavier not lighter very strange weight breaks and slows uphill momentum along with acceleration. My airplane has 16 in of travel on Fox air and many other cool goodies yet my empty weight is at 467 lb even has a supercharged 2300 type 1. You could take a hammer to the skin and not Dent it, as its Foam & S glass composite. Aluminum frame with heavy gussets.

I just re-watched again since the first time I was fixing breakfast. I heard this time you saying that Shannon had built your own buggy that's cool. Didn't mean to name-drop. My acquaintance with him would have been in the early to mid-90s. Most I talk to have never heard of Shannon. But I've never done Rock competition either. Just Arizona and Colorado trails. Which among the thousands of replies you doubtedly read, you replied to my extensive description of Arizona Trails a couple months back. Yeah I've been around, I'm ancient! LOL When you grow up on a ranch you're forced to be resourceful. Started driving at 8 years old. And started flying gliders at 14. But I've allways had my hot rods, off-roaders, Show vehicles and planes. Participated in a few short desert races. And did mud bogs for nearly 3 years, before I moved on to other interests. But I have boonie bashed my entire life. And flying nearly as long. Mostly Bush planes. And although I still have my mini monster 80 Toyota 4 x 4 with its Marlin crawler. All I do nowadays is build and fly in my spare time. I have cartwheel a Toyota 4x4 twice at over 70mph. , Another time Barrel rolled three times at 50. And crashed a 250R 3-wheeler face first into a cliff at close to 80mph while racing. Surgeries cost tens of thousands of dollars for that one. LOL Been over the Rubicon. And rode from the Salton Sea through Glamis to the Mexican border in the Yuma sand dunes and back. All trails in Arizona. Even before they closed down most of them. that would include the only Trail that leads to the bottom of the Grand Canyon down lava steps. that entrance is through Utah. And probably is closed today. Nearly half the trails in the Colorado Rockies. And if there wasn't a road I'd either horseback or fly in if it was legal. The forest service has literally dozens of Landing strips in remote areas where there are no roads. And even if they don't, if the air space permits and it's not Wilderness or wildlife sanctuary it's legal to land anywhere it's safe. It doesn't have to be a road or airstrip. This can include mountain ridges or even sandbars in some States. Arizona's tread lightly law is a slippery slope. And it's technically illegal to put a tire of any vehicle in any water that doesn't have a road or Trail. Sorry I tend to babble. "The memories of an old man are the Deeds of a man in his prime."
