I got 120k mi on my first set . Guy isn't lying entirely. Definitely improved mpgs and more pep. My 17 Tacoma has over 230k mi and I'm the OG owner. I just recently installed my second set. Highly recommend running premium fuel as ripp performance recommends also . You get max benefits.
Bought and installed in my Tacoma. One of the coil units went out after less than 100 miles. Emailed customer service and they wanted model number miles driven. I supplied and then have never heard back from them. Have tried 3 different times over a month nothing......
If you want to PROVE your new mileage to a sceptical person, don't just tell them what your new MPG was, SHOW THEM! Take a picture of the truck's display or take a picture of your written start/stop miles with gas amount pumped!
I added those coils to my tacoma as well as the TRD cold air intake...you forgot to tell the viewers they will now have to use premium gas, and they will not get anywhere near the horse power you have stated or the extra mpg's
Recap.... they asked this 2 weeks back... According to @truckandwater "Ripp says you don’t have to use premium gas and on their dyno run on their TH-cam video, I am pretty sure they used 87 and got around +20 hp."
I run premium on mine like they recommend and you do experience the max benefits. If I run regular octane, I don't have as much pep and mpgs are lower .
What could possibly explain the mixed (yet mostly positive) reviews? Faulty units? Incorrect installation? I hear mostly good things with a minority of bad…
I bought Ripp coils for my 2011 Tundra 5.7, I get so many different ratings on them, I hope they do what you say they do, I won't be happy if I wasted $400, thanks for the video.
So I’ve had multiple new Fidel trucks paying around 1000 a month in payments I decide to buy our second home lake house and in that process I bought a brand new TRD pro can’t be happier love this truck
Coil packs aren't going to change power or M.P.G unless you have a bad coil now I know this from decades ago drag racing a spark is a spark factory is just fine.
Still preforms the exact same as the day I put them in. 1-4 mpg+ increase in all driving situations. More bottoms end grunt with great top end pull. I have seen increase across the board whether I run 87 or 93. Highly recommend it. But also pair it with the rough country cold air intake. I have a video on that also.
@@TrucksandWater I’m running stock air box with a K&N filter and a MishiMoto silicone intake tube. Just put on a 18” magnaflo muffler. Putting the RIPP coils on today. I’ve heard nothing but great things about this upgrade for these trucks. Thanks again for the video.
What exhaust do you have on the truck. Or do you even have one. I’m brand spanking new to the channel and found your truck sounds pretty dang good around 4:08. I was wondering if the intake and coil packs was all you’ve done or if there was more
The coil change will negate your warranty of something goes wrong with the coils. I took mine off. Going with a OTT tune; there is more feedback as to the reliability and performance difference than what I experienced and read on the coils.
I talked to my local Toyota dealership I bought the truck off of and they say it will not and I also have a personal relationship with the mechanics there. I also kept the old coils so on the rare chance something does happen, I or them can swap it back over.
Don’t recommend these at all bro. I installed these back in May 2022 and about 4 days ago in December 6 2022. My truck was malfunctioning due to these coil packs. Best advice from me is to save oem coils and hope they don’t go out.
I just experienced the same exact thing today. Throwing error codes and check engine light came on. Felt like it was misfiring. So I limped it to the dealership and they told me that it was the coil packs. $350 wasted
It sucks to hear you guys had bad experiences. I got 120k out my first set. Just got my second set installed a few days ago. When I put my stock coils back on I wasn't enjoying my truck as much . Three weeks I was on the stock coils . Honestly stock coils suck. Good spares
will this void my warranty? i just bought a 2023 trd pro with the manual, and opted for the extended 7 year as i want to keep this truc for life. Will adding mods such as these coil packs and a cold air void my warranty, or do i have to wait 7 years to increase the performance or my Taco?
I installed the rip coil packs in my 2020 Trd pro manual transmission, the drivers side installation is absolute hell and more frustrating than you could believe. However, if, and when you finally get them in, you will experience a very noticeable increase in performance. I installed them myself Over the weekend a little over a year ago and everything has been fantastic. HOWEVER … TODAY MY TRUCK Developed a misfire in cylinder number six and I was left stranded on the side of the road on a uphill grade with nowhere to pull over and the vehicle is unable to continue . I am unsure what the problem is at the moment however, there seems to be many people having issues like the ones I am having after installing rip coil packs in their vehicles. Granted that my truck is due for new spark plugs at 60,000 miles (I am currently at 61,000 miles at time of misfire developing today) I will contact RI first thing Monday morning and inquire about the warranty which I believe I may be within the timeframe to be covered by warranty from RIPP. However, it is a huge pain in the ass to be dealing with right now. I’m stuck on the side of a mountain Canyon Road with a trailer that I cannot leave here or it most likely will be gone by morning. So I am stranded and cannot go pick up my son, and I must rely on the kindness of somebody which hopefully will help me but so far nobody has been able to help. I have been here for 12 hours and I am currently screwed. Is it a faulty coil pack? I don’t know. However, most likely, I’d say yes it is and this is certainly not anything that I needed to deal with at the moment, and I must be honest with myself, and come to the conclusion that it is probably a faulty coil pack. Now, what do I do get the warranty to replace them but pay for the labor or do it myself. Either way I will have to deal with the fact that they may not be reliable that they are not reliable according to the facts at hand, when speaking to anyone who has used them every every single person loves them. But the fact is they are unreliable and that’s a real crying shame.
man installing a $7k supercharger only get you 60hp gain, how the hell you get 20+hp out of a coil pack? if ripp advertise that to you sir, you need to get your money back lol😂
