    Thanks bro, going to change mine before springs hits and riding weather shows up for my 2014 R1 .

    If you want a taller oil filter, for the extra filtering , you can use the Mobil 1 M1-110A filter. I personally use it on my 2013 R1.

      I’ll definitely check that out. Thanks for the tip!

    Should have also undone the oil cap when draining the oil, I also put it on the stand and shake it up and down to get all the oil out

    hi mate, I wanna change my cb 1000 r to r1 2014 or 2012, would you recommend ?
    cheers

      I’ve never rode a cb 1000r but I have owned multiple cbr 1000rr bikes. They were great bikes and I’ll compare to them.
      I think my cbr 1000rr was a bit more reliable but not as fun to ride. It had smoother power delivery but doesn’t feel as fast as my Yamaha.
      My new 2012 Yamaha r1 has been my absolute favourite bike to own and ride even though I have had some issues with it I’m the past. I really enjoy the look of the 2012-2014 Yamaha r1 with the updated running lights compared to the older 2009-2011 years.
      At the end of the day I would say buy the 2012-2014 R1 but just save a little bit more money for maintenance and upkeep when comparing it to your Honda.

    Do I need any special tools to remove the filter?

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it wasn’t over tightened previously you can remove it by hand.
      If it’s to tight you can use a filter wrench or some pliers

    just wrap the exhaust pipes in tinfoil and saves you from getting them covered in oil

    How tight do you turn the oil filter back on?

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hand tight

    • @hadster016
      @hadster016 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JT2JZ won't it leak then

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  ปีที่แล้ว

      I store my bikes in the house over hardwood and carpet. If they were to leak I would definitely know! I’ve Never had any issues.
      You can go tighter but it just makes it harder to remove for your next oil change.

    Isn't the oil weight 15-50 0n that r1?

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of people do use heavier weight oil in these bikes.

    I just did my 2011 last week 😁
    Here in Australia they’ve stopped supplying the oil filter with the hexagonal type end (that you can grip onto and turn), with a smooth rounded one. Wtf🤦‍♂️

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be frustrating! The filters are already hard enough to grab.
      I thought all genuine Yamaha filers would be the same world wide.

    I used a K&N filter once with the hex-nut on the end and the seam at the nut failed while I was riding. It got a little slippery for a moment. Avoid.

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have heard that a few times now, thanks for sharing!
      Just out of curiosity did you use the nut to tighten the filter?

  • @abslenchar2347

    Imagine if we would have to remove the mid pipe just to get the oil filter out 😅

    I’m about to change my oil on my ‘12 R1 :) I’m going to put aluminum foil on the exhaust so the oil don’t spill
