I've learned in Karts for qualifying to not push the entry. You can gain time but usually it's not worth losing 3 tenths on exit if you try gaining 1 tenth on entry. Where I race, we use a similar qualifying format where you have 3 laps. So, 2 warm up laps and then 1 push lap basically and with how are track is you still don't have full grip on lap 3. Love the video too Cameron!
Such a great video, thanks for sharing! I have been to four rental kart enduro races now, ranging from 4 hours to 12 hours, and I gotta say mistakes and lucks were the essential parts and races are not just about our pace. The 12 hour race I attended was ruined by a super slow kart randomly assigned to us. But hey, the good time with friends was hard to beat!
Milton Keynes Daytona - the 2 stroke rental karts are much faster and agile around the track, 10 secs quicker a lap from memory. Just need to be careful on a slightly colder morning because the bottom of the track stays frosty and that section before the left onto the back straight can be lethal under braking 😂
Your vids never cease to amaze me. Such awesome work and level of detail. I much prefer waiting a longer time for a new vid to come out if they have this level of excellence
At 25:38 that's us just behind you having a bit of a meltdown. Kart 9 doing as you suffered - pushing clean off the road whilst alongside. From the looks of where David finished compared to me he probably saw me deal with that guy into turn 9 for the final time!
Great race man love this channel I'm trying to get into racing, I mainly sim race but wanna get into karting and so on. Definitely learn a lot keep up the great videos
Did a two hour race with some nephews a few months back. Was an absolute blast. We have some very limited karting experience apart from one of us. He drives some faster karts around. What we didnt plan for was that a week later there would be a national champoinship race and pretty much everybody was at this event to practice. We were getting destroyed. Finished 12 laps behind the second to last person. XD We had a great time however and will be back for revenge.
Okay, I have to be honest - the marshals in this race are very demanding DMANNNN many rules. And look, I'm also a long endurance racer. I'm definitely going to set my goal to run an endurance race like this - I invite you to meet us here in Brazil. The BEST and biggest is certainly the 12h Of Beto Carreiro and the 500 miles from Granja Viana!
It's necessary for open events because otherwise the marshalls will have some shithead kid speeding into the pits and running over marshalls and spectators
First time I’ve seen any of your Videos.. loved every second the commentary, to the cut clips and certain information that I would be so lost without! Great content! Keep it up!!
you said the algorythm doesn't like these vids but certainly do, and i made it to the top of my homepage. top thumbnail and entire video tbf, love this type of content. subbed and I can't wait to see more
FYI, we finished 6th in the 2023 24hrs (kart 23). Despite having a regular fastest lap setter in these events, our kart was ~2 seconds off the overall best. Frustrating. Hopefully they can be closed up for this year. Separately, Daytona manage to create the most complicated and unsporting pit lane in the world. Why they've never put an actual limiter on the karts, i've no idea.
I haven't raced at all so I dont know how refueling works but I think it's clear that the pitting system in this particular event can be improved so the drivers dont run into issues we saw in the video. I'd assume that there would be an orientation before the race to go over these things but a simple sign in the pit entry lane would've saved everyone a lot of time and confusion. I'm a designer and it's very fraustrating for me to see the black flag given in the pits since it's a very avoidable problem. So I'm sure it was definitely a frustrating experience for all the riders as well. Organizing events are hard and definitely dont have experience in that, but I just want the race to be as enjoyable for eveyone as possible.
i noticed you were gaining a significant amount of pace in the late laps of your stint im guessing because of less fuel in the kart theres not as much weight
That might be part of it. Could also just be me getting faster, track rubber increasing, or track temperature increasing. I also find these hard compound rental tires seem to just get better with temperature as well, so it’s probably a combo of all those things.
That’s awesome! I learned a lot in that series. I was lucky enough to have some very experience competitors who taught me a lot (many had car experience), so always grateful to them for the knowledge.
If you ever come to Denmark you should go to Thy where we have one of Europes best gokart tracks 1.248 meters long, its a great track i would defintly recommend it!
19:00 is why i have trauma this happened to me a year or 2 ago but i was hit head-on, spun into the tires, broke my leg against the steering wheel cuz it was rlly low, also was a wet track which made doing stuff a pain
So Cam Really random question but I’ve been looking into getting my own racing helmet, do you have any idea where to get one and how to decorate it? If so thank you!!! Great race… too bad you missed out on the podium! You’ll get em next time haha
Hey cam you should definitely go to the teeside track and do the international layout i already know you would love it (its where the british 24hr is held!)
Question for the group; do you lean outward or inward through the hairpins? Coach says outward, but I end up bouncing so much, I work to not spin out. Leaning inward gives me so much more control when I’m coming out of the turn.

Really good watch! Worked here for a bit back in the day, memories of being stood marshalling in the sun and rain lol.
David completely ruined the whole drive 😂
Yeah, but he seems like a really nice guy. It would upset me though if I was in Camerons shoes.
he seems to be a damn good driver though. i can understand making mistakes like that, especially in an endurance race.
