They usually go into drinks rather than wooden toothpicks and end up in a landfill.
Using it for this makes a cool prop which is good for decades.
The actual figurines go through manufacturing processes which are worse for the environment

half of Buzzfeeds staff just watches other smaller channels videos to steal them for themselves, by the time anyone copyright claims a video Buzzfeed has made most of their money from views
I actually once thought of this too... I tried to make a throne out of these cocktail swords.. but I gave up pretty fast... but I know plenty of people who made this kind of art even before this video was out.
So it's not weird if they had the same idea.
Edit: Okay, after finding that video (since I was curious) I find it suspicious that it's done a mere 2 days after this one.
Honestly, I feel it's different enough that there should be no shame in posting it, and the way they did it was pretty different. Easier too (since it was just foil and putty). But they should at least give credit for the idea to where they got it.

That looks like a lot of precision! I have just discovered your channel! You have great tutorials and well done for using any material you find - you could have used moulds, 3D printer, gypsum... but there seemed to be a much quicker and easier option - using a bit of wood, then foam and it looks perfect, does it matter what's on inside hahaha? You have a new sub guaranteed!

If I were you, I would make a silicone mold of this and then using the mold, create a more durable version. Well done over all!
That would not work at all
@Eva-maria Ivava Too many nooks and crannies for the silicone to get into. It wouldn't release without damaging the mold.
This is soo AMAZING!!! You did an excellent job with this! 👍👏 There are so many DIY's I want to do but never get around too.. However, I'm doing this! Thanks for the really kind comment, and please send me a pic when you are done (and the wood working is really simple, just get a manual saw and sketch the shapes on it before sawing it)!
Okay so when I was in robotics I actually used this as an idea for the phone holder on our bot. Gotta connect the cables somehow and even told thw judges about your channel. Wrote it in the journal. Hand wrote the link and everything.
It looked nothing like the charger sure but we did get the Innovative Design award that year. A battery and phone case, had the wires soldered and properly tucked away, and used a piece of farm equipment as an idea for the arm to have 360° radius to pick things up.
But the rest of the team neglected their journals and we never moved on. They dismantled the bot once I retired from the team. I still have pictures and it was the best bot I ever made while on any team.
Thank you for inspiring me with that old desgin btw. Idk if I ever sent you guys a message but you did inspire my team and a few of the teachers at my school. I constantly was sharing links. I graduated a year ago so idk if they subscribed but I hope they did.

I did it! It took quite a bit of work though, and I did foolishly get burned since I used the tip of my glue gun to bend the swords instead of buying a heat gun like the one you use. But I’m pretty happy with the end result! Thanks for the video! :)

Good project but, you must use magnetic charging cable. It will be better then normal cable. Sorry my english not so good :)

Very cool. And hot glue on the cord will allow you to change the cord when it goes bad.

I thought it would be a failed attempt but nah, it really came out fine.
just started this project yesterday, gotta find a store with a stock of swords big enough to last for this project...all i found is like 35 pieces bags and like 2-3 per stock so its gonna take a while, but looks amazing, i actually had the honor to sit on the actual throne twice, at comicon in Bucharest, did some pictures for hbo facebook page, its awesome, quite confortable, i could watch tv off that throne...:D

back with a response, i actually made it, looks good i think, i made it a bit different than you but it worked out well, used white foam, the kind used with leds to diffuse light, covered that with 2xtape and then eva foam, then the awesome process of putting the swords and painting as usual, thanks for the inspiration...too bad i changed the phone and now i have the throne with micro usb cable, now i have usb type c...but it still looks amazing near my dragon statue and khaleesi poster :D
