@@Nerdforge Honestly the actual surprising thing is that this is the first time that's ever happened. Given the high quality of everything I've seen y'all create, I sorta just assumed TH-cam was a hobby or where you got to put together your passion projects in between the bigger commissions like movies or TV shows or biog photo shoots or something.
I used to be a prop maker for Disney in California and worked on many movies and tv shows. The best job I ever had. Retired now but missing the stage. Love the chest you made. Loooove it!! I was so excited to see the prop you ended up having to make for them. I love the finishes on the chest. The wood finish and then the end finishing touches with the paint. It really makes a world of a difference. So so talented! Great job!
I get the feeling, that if she was a teacher at a school like Hogwarts, her students would really, pay attention. She's clearly the right person, to teach an artifact creation class, at a magic school.
Your videos are so helpful, I love that you show detail work upclose and slightly slow motion, to many creators rush through things it's hard to follow them, so thank you! And that chest is beautiful!
OMG! An amazing film! Your names in the credits! You guys have gone big time! The Chest reveal in the film is soooo epic! And then the connect to Nina and the light up! WOW! Just WOW!
One Chest to rule them, One Chest to find them, One Chest to bring them all and in the darkness bind them. Nicely done Martina! The fantasy shortfilm was really nice.
The movie short was a fun watch and I really enjoyed it. And seeing a Indie production being made was something I really needed right now. Over here in Central Jersey, U.S. so many Indie horror and Sci-Fi productions are on hold or only able to have a really small crew and cast at once so I've been really down being sidelined. But seeing your creation as a character in DISTANCE and seeing how excited you were with being on location for the first time ever was one of the best things I've watched on Nerdforge yet and really lifted my spirits. 😁
This is so awesome!!! The chest looks like something you see in an RPG. Your content on this channel is a treasure to us all (Pun intended) in these dark times we live in.
I love the way the chest turned out. Also loved the short film it was used in even though it was such a sad ending. Thank you for being so creative. Have a great new year.
If you damage the wood, then put a light coat of color on, then damage the wood some more, and add more stain... it will build up into very dimensional color. Especially if you use slightly different tones of stain. Also, remember to damage the wood a bit more after building the chest, so you have damage in the 'right' spots... the corners and such. But this does look very good! (At about the 2 minute mark)
I'd first like to say as a carpenter myself, I absolutely love that you do your own carpentry work. You're so talented at everything you do. Fantastic job..
Girl you are so very talented that chest was amazing now I'm going to go check out the short film I don't know why more movie people don't hire you to do props for them.
For your next one (and there will be a next one), think about using a wax finish on the wood. It will add a patina on top of the painting that really will help with the aging varnish look. Not as shiny as polyurethane, but just a little bit more than painted wood. I've used it on stage props and it's worked out fine.
That was so cool to see! You did an amazing job to make it look ancient and magical and it was even better with the great camera work and lighting they did. And how awesome it must be to see your names in movie credits :) If there's award in prop design category, I'd vote for you.
