My favorite part was when he was fighting the kids. Not only is the action hilarious and well choreographed, but it also shows the kind of movie this is. A lesser movie would've made the kids adult men and would've just been like, "He's just that strong." But no, with the fights with the adults he mainly slaughters them but he still struggles. With the kids it's obvious he would curb stomp them even with the injuries he's taken. Even then, he doesn't even need to do much as he doesn't really hit them on his own. Sure he may slap a couple of them once or twice, but he mainly either uses his surroundings or uses their own attacks against each other. I got a real Raid/ Jackie Chan vibe from that. Also my favorite part in the fights in general was seeing Taylor just kick people's legs out and seeing them go flying.

*Spoiler:* I thoroughly enjoyed it as an action movies with a simple premise. Some felt it would have been better with more backstory on the kid. I agreed with their analysis until I saw the movie myself. This kid was just a package for Tyler, so we got to know the kid through Tyler's eyes, seeing when he no longer saw the kid as just a package. We see the kid dislikes the fact that his father kills people and reflects on the suffering of the victim's family in the aftermath, showing empathy for others, unlike his father, He seems to be kind, caring and well versed, based on his comment on drowning . He said his father sees him as a thing, not a person. And despite the fact that his father doesn't like his piano playing, he does it anyway. So he is his own person. Also he is smart enough to fully understand the situation he is in and how this situation would normally play out, no begging or pleading, a strong character, unwilling to bend to the ill will of others. So we see he is someone who most-likely will not turn out like his father and worth saving. Also it gave Tyler peace being there for the kid, since he wasn't there during the death of his own son, a bit of closure. So we know about this kid from Tyler's perspective, making us enter his role and asking our-self "what would I do in this situation?"

This movie was pretty decent, Chris Hemsworth does a good job in the leading role, he more or less is 1 of those characters who lets his actions do the talking rather than his depth (or lack there of in this case) and he does the part well for what it requires, the biggest plus is without a doubt the action, holy shit, the action in this movie is incredible, every time the bullets started flying or people started punching each other it was remarkable, like this is probably the best hand the hand fighting I’ve seen in a movie since The Raid, it is absolutely jaw dropping, speaking of The Raid it also plays a part in determining how much you’re probably gonna enjoy this movie, if you’re ok with having the action be the thing that’s really carrying a movie while every other element is paper thin you’ll probably have a really good time with Extraction, and initially that’s how I thought I was gonna feel about it, but there’s a point in the middle of this movie where it slows down for a while and due to the bare bones character development it was hard to latch onto anything during that portion, they just give Chris Hemsworth that cliche “Guy has flashbacks to his wife and kid every once in a while” stuff, but something I kept thinking about every since I got into the middle of the movie were 2 things I think could’ve made it better, trimming the runtime and giving it more of a breakneck pace, if this movie was only like an hour and a half as opposed to 2 hours that would’ve allow them to just have a quick non nonsense action movie, like The Raid, that just goes from point A to point B without having to waste its time with it’s super basic characters, you can have a movie that lets the action carry it as opposed to the characters as long as you have the right pacing and runtime, which I don’t think this movie really does, but still, I had a decent enough time with this movie, Chris Hemsworth was good, the action is amazing, I don’t see it as a movie I’d go out of my way to watch again but if I had a friend or family member that wanted me to sit down and watch it with them or something like that I wouldn’t be opposed to giving it another watch. 6/10

I really like it, for a 65 million dollar budget film, they do seem to be able to use every penny to it’s worth.
6/10 would be a little harsh, if marvel endgame is a 10/10, I would rate this 8/10. It would be one heck of a solo film

The meaning of the numbers on my rating system is a little different, especially because 2 of them mean the same thing just in slightly different context, here’s what they mean
10/10 and 9/10- Awesome, 1 of the best movies of the year, they just both mean awesome because even if I love a movie I’m not someone who hands perfect 10/10 scores out like candy, in fact the only movies on my best of the year list that have the 10/10 rating are usually just my top 2 or 3
8/10- Great- A step above good but still underneath awesome, they’re like the runners up when it comes to my favorites of the year, and if I haven’t seen 10 movies that got 9/10 or 10/10 ratings they’d be next in line
7/10- Good, a solid movie that I’d buy on Blu Ray and watch multiple times
6/10- Ok, a decent enough movie that I wouldn’t buy on blu ray but if I was eating lunch and looking for something to watch while I did it and I saw 1 of those movies I’d be fine with having it on, and if someone asked me to go see it with them I would, put simply, nothing I’d go out of my way to watch again but something I’d gladly watch if it was put down in front of me
5/10- Ok, nothing particularly painful to sit through but something I wouldn’t be interested in watching again, and if it came on tv or something I’d be like “Nah” and change the channel
4/10- Bad, not 1 of the worst movies of the year or anything but not good nonetheless, and something I’d abject to watching again
3/10- Really Bad, basically the negative version of the 8/10, the runner up when it comes to worst of the year.
2/10, 1/10, 0/10- Terrible, the absolute worst movies of the year, and similar to the 10/10 and 9/10 they share the same meaning because I don’t just slap a 0 on every movie on my worst of the year list, the higher/lower number really depends on how many redeeming qualities the movie has

I don't think that Tom Cruise did a bad job at all with Reacher. And You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who believed otherwise. While Tom didn't match the book Jack, less than %2 of the theater going audience even knew the books existed (myself included) and Tom Cruise put his all into that portrayal. And it worked. The first film was VERY solid and entertaining. The second film...failed the actor. The script was too poor for them to go to print with and they did it anyway. BUT, if the studios wanted to reboot the Reacher movies (which in this day and age wouldn't be unheard of) Chris wouldn't be a bad casting choice as long as they don't wait until he's too old to play the part. At least, he would do well physically. But I wouldn't expect him to hold a candle to Tom's..........intensity on screen. There are very few actors who can sell what Tom sells when he looks into the camera.

@@samueltheprideofafrikarobi9319 don't get me wrong. I love everything Tom Cruise! He and Will Smith are my two favorite childhood actors(surprisingly, I'm not a scientologist) but I think that physique-wise Hemsworth would be a great Reacher but as a fan of the books no one would be able to properly portray Reacher very well. In the author own words, Jack Reacher's stoicism and intellect are close to what a high spectrum autistic person would be. The author hasn't ruled out that may be the case. I think any actor would be hard pressed to portray that effectively.

@@sensei_akisame1181 True. Finding someone who is both massive who can act is a tall order. As usually, society will reward you well enough for only doing one or the other.(Let alone being able to act as an intellectual. I mean, did ANYBODY believe Hemsworth as a hacker in Blackhat?) But, if I were to throw my hat in the ring for a more book accurate Reacher, I would go with Dave Bautista. A lot of people seem to sleep on him as an actor, but he's got more in him than I think people realize. There's no doubt that his physicality is on par with someone like The Rock, but with the right direction, toned down and played lightly, he can be a pretty convincing "smart guy" as was showcased ever so briefly in his small part in Blade Runner 2049. He just needs to cultivate that pert of his acting repertoire to grow beyond his "big guy" persona.

The action setpieces were astounding. The story is familiar, but let's be honest you don't expect an exceptional story from an action flick. The acting was to point too. I mean they didn't have a huge emotional spectrum to portray, but then again it wasn't really required. Randeep Hooda stood out for me, man has got real talent to make it to the big leagues.

None of the cast were given any background about who they are right? Because you saw it in previous movies.
