- I am so excited to dive into this dedicated mini tutorial! In this video I'll share 5 of my favorite tips for creating beautiful, fluffy white cumulus clouds (not Columbus...)

Like the short videos focusing on individual techniques. This is excellent
Wonderful! I have more coming ❤️
Loved this brief tutorial! Also live your longer videos!
I’m so glad! Thank you for the feedback, Robin! It’s very encouraging to me
I really like your long tutorials and your short ones--in other words, BOTH, please! You have a great presence on screen and your teaching is very clear. It is very helpful when you mention the names of the paint colors and brush sizes you are using. Thank you for doing these TH-cam tutorials. I hope you continue.😊
Thank you, Linda! This review means a lot to me and has really encouraged me tonight! I’m excited to continue tutorials as often as I can, though I just had our 4th baby about a month ago so it will probably be a little more hit and miss this year than usual while we find our rhythm and enjoy baby snuggles
Wonderful tip to dampen tisuue first! What a difference that makes! Thanks!
Yes! So much softer and realistic
I'm going to practice my ☁ ☁ with your video.
Thanks Katrina!
So glad it was helpful! Let me know how it goes ❤️
You are great and the way you explain is amazing.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the tutorial ❤️
Thank you, this is the best way for me to do skies. Iv been trying lots of ways but came across yours and had that "found it" moment as the way for me😊 subscribed 👍
Oh wonderful!! Isn’t it funny how we process differently and some things click and other things make no sense at all? Hah-so glad you’re able to move forward confidently now!!
Good to hear I'm not alone... I'm still at the tutorial stage but the past couple times painting I've run my brush through my fingers without thinking about it. Thank you for the tutorial. I appreciate the tip about dampening the tissue a little bit. I can't wait to try these clouds.
Haha, yes it’s a bad habit that I picked up when working with oils and can’t seem to drop it when I’m fully immersed in painting
I liked your Technique of using just two colors. I'm trying to develop a painting for a friend of mine. The watercolor is going to be a Seascape with fluffy flirting clouds with an ocean and a a boat with sails. So, this is a great help! As the painting will be a 22 by 30 in..
Wonderful! Yes, the trick is to not overcomplicate things ❤️ I can’t wait to hear how your painting turns out!
I'm more interested in the full-landscape tutorials, but the detail tutorials (e.g., "clouds") are also helpful.
Thank you for your input! I’ll keep both types of videos in the schedule 😊
Love both long and shorts. This short is great for practicing a specific skill or tool.
Great to hear! And I think you’re right-a mix of both will probably be best ❤️
Amazing! Can't wait to try it . Thank you
Let me know how it goes! And thank you for the feedback!! It means a lot to me
Thank you so much for this tutorial video. My piece I am painting needed this for my featured artist video. No matter how I tried I could not get it to work, but then I found you in and wal-lah! Perfect. ♥
Oh wonderful! Glad it helped ❤️
Love these simple, achievable outcomes. Keep these coming.
I'm so glad you like them! Thank you for the feedback ❤️
Loved the cloud tutorial
I had just done a page of horrible cloud attempts when I found yours. I still need improvement/practice but this helped a lot!
Oh wonderful! There’s definitely a learning curve but so fun once you get the hang of it
thank you! very helpful-I never tried the damp tissue before. It really makes a difference for me!
Me too! I’m not entirely sure why-but a dry tissue is always too harsh or picks up too much… or something, haha
Great video and no rambling like some people do!
Excellent, informative and to the point.
Oh good! I think I’m prone to ramble myself but for the quick, “mini” tutorials, I do try keep it short and sweet ❤️ so glad you enjoyed it
I love painting clouds - always love to learn fresh perspectives! Thank you!
I’m learning to love it too! Definitely still intimidating for me but exciting when I finally unlock a secret to one of the cloud formations I’ve been struggling with
thank you so much for your pleasant tutorial!!
So glad you found it helpful! ❤️
I loved it! Direct, clear, to the point. I seldom comment, but have been struggling with my clouds! Thanks, Thanks!
Oh, well thank you Deborah!! You have really encouraged me today-I’m so glad you’ve found it helpful
Great instruction technique
And sense of humor
Haha, you have to have a sense of humor when you make as many blunders as I do! Glad you enjoyed the tutorial ❤️
@@katrinacrouch ❤ life would be so boring without them
Thank you. Your video was short and sweet? A reminder of light and shadow always a good thing. Please continue to share you awesome talent. I have been a member of an art forum from the UK. Unfortunately they will be discontinuing as of March. I have not been able to find land scape artist tutorials that had the same quality if instruction. So very glad to see you are now doing landscape and sharing with your followers. Stay safe and keep coming up with great ideas😊.
Oh dear! While I can’t claim to take the place of UK landscape masters, I do plan on sharing more landscapes in the near future ☺️ please let me know if there is anything specific you are working on and I’ll turn some focus in that direction
This was very helpful. Thank you.
So glad you enjoyed it, Paula! Thank you for taking the time to let me know it was helpful-that’s really encouraging to me
Thank you so much! I have watched other videos on clouds but yours is the BEST. I am a real beginner and I have felt very frustrated with what I have produced but you showed me step by step what to do and just as importantly why to do it. I was ready to give up as I am not naturally artistic but you have given me hope to keep trying. I’m going to watch your landscapes for beginners video now. Please keep sharing your talent with us 🌸
I’ve struggled myself! TONS of trial and error but this is my favorite technique so far. I’m testing another technique that I’ll share if I can figure it iut
I had to laugh when you said, "columbus clouds". You are too cute!! LOL
Hahah, I couldn’t believe it even as it came out of my mouth 😅
love this one!
Oh thank you! So glad you like it ❤️
Great tutorial. I would love to see how you do landscapes
You can find the tutorial for this landscape here: m.th-cam.com/video/JbHTxJxD5ws/w-d-xo.html
I loved the quick tutorial but also think the full landscape would definitely help.
You can watch this landscape here: m.th-cam.com/video/JbHTxJxD5ws/w-d-xo.html
Very informative. I will try this technic.
Great! I can’t wait to hear how it turns out ❤️
Loved this one! “Columbus clouds” was so funny too. 😆
So embarrassing. But I had to include it, haha!
Thank you this was my first time meeting you.
This is the best cloud tutorial I have ever seen and I have watched and tried many
Oh that means so much to me! Thank you for sharing-I’m so glad you found it helpful ❤️
This is a great tutorial on painting clouds.
I like your lighthearted and friendly manner when teaching..
Oh thank you! That is very kind of you-so glad the tutorial was helpful ❤️
I did try some clouds using your techniques and they are by far the best I’ve have done! I am excited to try more.
By the way, both your mini tutorials like the ☁️ and the more extended landscapes or whatever are great. As many as you can do!
I found out about your channel when Jenna Rainy gave you a mention at the beginning of January 😊
Oh yay!! So glad it worked for you too-clouds are so tricky. And I am so thankful that we are friends now-I am still amazed that Jenna gave me the shoutout
Enjoyed this video on my lunch break. Thank you 😊 for providing these basic and practical tutorials.
Oh I love that we can take a lunch break “together”, hah! So glad you enjoyed the tutorial-thank you for the feedback 💕
Thank you! I’ve always struggled with clouds, which seems like it should be a simple thing.
Yes! I agree! That's why I made a ton of them over and over-I was just cleaning my office up this morning and I'm not even sure what to do with all of these cloud-testing-papers, hahah!
Thank you for the cloud tips! I’m hoping to use the cloud tips in a beach or landscape scene. I would love to see a tutorial on an ocean scene…maybe with view of the ocean thru the sand dunes and sea oats:)
That sounds beautiful!! I’ll definitely add that to the list-I haven’t had a chance to watercolor lately and you’re making me want to dive in again!
Such great tips, especially wetting the tissue before blotting!!
Yes! That was the game changer for me too! So much softer and realistic. Maybe it’s the control freak in me that needs it to be a more gentle transition, haha
Your clouds are very realistic! Thank you for sharing your tips.
That is so kind of you! Thank you so much for the encouragement
I am enjoying these videos so much! I love landscapes and am learning great tips from you. Please keep them coming.
Oh I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I’m still working out my technique for watercolor landscapes (my background is colored pencil and oils-so different!) but it has been fun!
Thank you. I learned a lot.
Oh that’s wonderful, Carol! Thank you for the feedback!
My first video I’ve watched of yours! Loved it! Thank you. I now want to see all of them.
Oh I’m so glad you’re here, Charlotte! Let me know if there is anything specific you would like to see in the future ❤️
This is an excellent technique I’m going to try the first chance I get, thank you! And I’m going to call them Columbus clouds from now on because that was hysterical 😂
Oh my lanta, that was so embarrassing, haha
Glad you liked the tutorial and got a good laugh with me!
Great clear and straight forward tips for watercolor clouds!
Thank you!! Glad you approve 😉💕
I am excited to try to do clouds with toilet paper . I like the way you explain and thank you for mentioning the colours.
Let me know how it works out for you! Glad you enjoyed the tutorial ❤️
Thank you for this tutorial. Would love to have more land and sea scape tutorials.
More to come! So glad you’re enjoying them
PERFECT TINY CLASS!!😊
So glad you liked it!!
Love your hints for clouds. Thank you. I’m going to try again.
Oh I’m so glad you found it helpful! Best of luck on your next try-I’m sure it will turn out great
Thank you for the video. I’m struggling with clouds and sky (for about a week). I’m just learning at 63. Have you done a video on what makes a good painting? Composition, etc?
I do have a video with some tips on composition but not specifically for painting: th-cam.com/video/WnHNxtMdYic/w-d-xo.html
Learning more about the elements and principles of design will help you critique your paintings and improve the composition and aesthetic overall
Thanks. I love it.
So glad you found it helpful!!
Thanks...I'm working on a piece that has a lot of sky and needed some help. I like the short tutorials but my attention span is not so great...but sometimes a longer session is needed and good. 😊
I’ll try and mix it up for you ❤️ glad this was helpful!
New subscriber! TH-cam recommended this video.
Wonderful! So glad to have you, Sue ❤️
I really like how you take the time to show us how to work with watercolors. Thank you so much for your time and patience, you've got a new subscriber:)
You are so welcome! I’m glad you enjoyed the tutorial and found it helpful ❤️❤️❤️
That is beautifully painted! Great tips!
Thank you! So glad you found it helpful!
That was a lovely cloud presentation. I would like a tutorial on different trees and bushes. Thank you very much 🙏😊👍
Great idea! I’ll get on that
This was so helpful, I’ve been trying to master real natural looking clouds. It would be great to have more tutorials on clouds but in different sky effects. Plus incorporate it into a whole landscape painting . Thank you for sharing your knowledge 😊
Oh that’s a great idea! Thank you for the feedback-I’ll start testing some different cloud effects to see if I can find any other tricks. And I’m hoping to have another landscape out soon! Depends on how nap time goes, haha
Thanks 🙏 I will try this . I have yet to paint a cloud that I like so I had quit putting them in !
I only just found your channel and am liking it😊
Don't give up! They are tricky but can be so fun-Try this on a scrap piece of paper and I think you'll enjoy it
I really liked your cumulus!! I would love to see another types of clouds like cirrus or cumulus with the colors of the sunset 🌇
Testing out a few techniques! I want to make sure I have it down to a science before I share 😅 and they don’t come easily to me, unfortunately!
I would like to see more of your lovely full length tutorials ...
Thank you for the feedback, Linda! I will definitely add more soon!
Thank you so much for this. Can’t wait to try the dampened tissue. Love your videos. 💕
Oh thank you Nancy! I’m so glad you have enjoyed them so far-let me know how this technique works out for you
You totally rock (rocked) it Kat.!
I really dig the use of clumpy "bath" tissue ~ Brilliant : and lovely outcome
BTW , my name is Yoj (not the stage name)
•• Have a Miracle set of Holidays lady
Nice to meet you, Yoj! Glad you enjoyed the tutorial ❤️
Love the tip using tissue paper instead of paper towel! Thank you! Have any tutorials on painting trees?
I’m working on one soon! I have sort of a pine tree tutorial here: m.th-cam.com/video/J5_dD-rhGSg/w-d-xo.html
I loved this tutorial. Have you done any landscape tutorials? Many thanks.
Yes I have! But only one so far, haha! Here it is: th-cam.com/video/JbHTxJxD5ws/w-d-xo.html
I like Mr. Andrew Pitt (He is an English Artist) instructs how to draw clouds...But today watching your show...I also like your method...Thanks
Oh, I’ll have to look him up sometime!
Thank you! I've been working on clouds for a year with lots of books/tutorials. Nobody ever mentioned the how's and why's of the shadow placement. Please keep doing landscape videos! I know its complex, but I'm stuck on the composition aspect. Even for simple ones. What to include, what to leave out...and why. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! And I agree, so much of the sky is contrary to our way of thinking that it can be tricky to know where to place shadows or how to create depth.
I'll play around with/talk about composition a little more in my next landscape painting!
Very useful
So glad to hear that it was helpful!
What tape are you using?? Could you add this to the supplies you have listed?
I used painter’s tape here, like you would use to paint the walls in your home. But more recently I have used this tape: www.amazon.com/dp/B09H62X81B/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_gl_i_KP92QZ8JZY88XGHSVPQX?linkCode=ml2&tag=blusheddesign-20
Is bath tissue the same as loo roll (UK) or toilet paper (US)?
Yes! I am just embarrassed to say “toilet” on camera for some reason, haha
Damp toilet paper stamper! Great hint, thanks.
Glad it was helpful!!
Did not work for me at all
So sorry to hear that, Kristen ❤️
I am anxious to try this! Clouds and I butt heads so to speak! Thank you!
I totally understand! This was the first technique that I tried several times and liked it every time 🥴 but so thankful to find some tricks that seemed to work. Let me know how it goes!!
