😂 Thanks Andy. It was quite a gruelling task to be honest due to the rear camera fitment, hence the long video. I'm glad it's over and it works like a charm 😉😊
Thanks Chris, I'm going to have a hard time wiring a dashcam to the XFR because Jaguar for some reason hooked every single fuse up to the convenience control module of the car - this means, I'll have no constant live to keep the dashcam's time and date settings. It also means, every time I open the door of the car, the dashcam will turn on for 3 mins and then turn off when the car is switched off. This will create a strain on the battery since I don't drive the car every day. I still need to figure out how to get around that one ;)
Hi Hilton, a superb job as usual ! You never fail to amaze me. I'd like to know if you have an idea about changing the infotainement/GPS/Digital interface hardware on my 2011 XF. I'd been looking for that everywhere for some time now...

Hey Hilton, terrific video. I know you were planning on putting in some EL tube wire and splicing in it. Did you have any look at that? I have all the parts and have checked to ensure proper phosphorus blue colour. But havent found the wire to splice into.. Any idea where or if you've already found this? There are no interior wiring manuals available.
Hey Tim. I also have all my parts but haven't had the time to look at it yet. The doors are easy, just find the wire that lights the downlight to the window switches. I noticed my doors already have the piping for the ambient lightning, yours should as well. Check underneath the armrest and above the armrest. If you insert an LED at the end of the tubes, you'll have ambient lightning on your doors. The dash is a different story. I was thinking of pulling the light control switch where the trunk release button is. The dimmer switch is probably the best place to run your main wire from. But it requires opening it so best to have a spare available just in case. If not, the center console has buttons that light up as well and there must be a plug in there. I did that on my Mazda and found the wire that controls the lighting and tapped into that.
Hey Spenser, on your car 27 is for heated seats and 28 is not used as far as I know. What I would recommend if you're fitting a dashcam is use fuse number F26 (front passenger seat adjustment) for your yellow battery + wire which will always be live and then for your accessory wire (the red wire) use fuse number F31 (rear auxilary socket) as this will most likely turn off after the car has been locked for 2 minutes. You can check that by simply hooking your DVR to those fuses, start the car, and turn it off and lock it while you sit inside and see if the DVR turns off. If not, then find another fuse for the red wire where it is for an accessory that will turn off shortly after locking the car.
Hey, I buy the manuals on eBay. They're helpful,l but not a hellava lot. There are no instructions, just diagrams and you have to piece the pieces together to figure this out. I'll share it with you on Google. Send me your Google email address via my website and I'll hook you up 👍
Hilton.....Great video...yet again! Want to fit one. Can I ask...have you had any problems with rattles or squeaks after removing trim since fitting? Scared to ruin the factory finish🤔 Did you allow extra wire for the hatch to open? Will need extra work to route for my Sportbrake rear door. Keep owning the Jag and keep up the great work buddy. 👍
Hey there, no issues with rattles or squeaks. Just got to make sure you don't break clips and clip everything in properly when you're done. I had to ensure the cable cleared the clip area in the A panel as it wouldn't clip back in. I still had loads of cable for the rear camera and stuffed it behind the airbag. You will have enough too but if you watch my Mazda CX-5 camera fitment video, you will see that getting that cable to the hatch is bitch. It took longer to run the cable than fitting the dashcam. But once done, it's worth it.
Hi Hilton.. Just got a 2013 3.0 XF ..Looking at fitting Dash Cam.. I have seen some people connect Dash cam wiring in Lighting/Mirror, instead of routing all the way to fuse Box. Was this ever a consideration by yourself.. Cheers Tony
Hey Tony, yes it was. Considering the dashcam needs both a hot and cold fuse, even when the car is switched off for a long period of time, it made sense to use the fuse box. So if somebody bumps my car while its been standing for a half hour or more, the dashcam will turn on and records 5 mins and then turn off again so that I can catch the perpetrator :D
Hey Hilton just wondering if you’ve been successful with getting this camera to record when you are away from the vehicle. I’d like mine to record with the motion sensor when it is parked like a security cam
You have to use the app. I'm using the Roadcam app and in the settings, you can set the motion detector as well as the g force sensitivity if the car should get bumped. My motion sensor is turned off but the g sensor is on and it's set to very sensitive so if someone bumps my car with their body it captures them for two minutes.
@@lifeistremendous9299 Is the camera storing the date and time. If not, then you've worked it up incorrectly because it needs a battery positive constant power supply to the yellow wire in order to work when you've turned the car off. I'd recommend checking the fuse location you used for the yellow wire to see if it's still active after turning the car off for longer than 5 minutes. That's why I used the electric seats fuse location because they're always love no matter what.
Hilton i used the same fuses locations you used in your video. Great video. And yeah i am gettin date and time correctly. When i set motion sensor on. It doesn’t stay saved as a setting.
Hey Hilton, i also own a jaguar xf x260. I really want to install blind spot monitoring system. Have you thought about doing the same? Is it even possible?
Hey, my car is already fitted with it. Fitting it retro is pretty near impossible as it's built into the canbus of the car and is part of the lane keep assist package.
@@souths4014 I'm afraid not. The side mirrors house the blind spot system and sensors so physical parts would need to be changed. Easier solution is to check your mirrors good and proper before changing lanes. 😊
Hi thanks for the great videos Hilton. Were you still happy with this unit right up to you getting your wonderful X250? I so wish I’d kept my 2014 X250 Portfolio S although it is is nice having some more modern tech. Thanks again
Hey, yes this system proved to be very good indeed. The HD rear camera is a must as it helped me with a road rage incident once. I was apparently "hogging" the fast lane, but could not get out of the way fast enough for a Mercedes Driver as he came flying up from behind and when I eventually did, he pulled in front of me and started brake checking me to the point where I almost hit another car on the left after swerving for the brake check idiot. I took the video evidence to the police and they immediately found his details on their system and called him into the police station. I made a case against him for reckless driving and the police press criminal charges against him as well which resulted in a hefty fine. I doubt he'll do that again just in case he's being filmed ;)
Hi Hilton. I places the two fuses in the seat circle movement, and removed the old fuses in it, but my dashcam is not working yet. All cables are connected to each other and car turned on. Did i do something wrong? Or has it to do with the ground wire? I just placed it on a piece of metal
@Nick Scholten I think your problem is that you've got your positive and constant battery plugged in the wrong fuses. Using a test light check, which fuse is always on after the car turns off the accessories after a few minutes, that's for your yellow wire. Then check which fuse is only on when the ignition is on. Keep in mind that this is the fuse that will go dead after a few minutes of turning the car off. That is the fuse to use for your red wire. If it still isn't working, you have a problematic dashcam.
Hey Kulveer. Check out this video. I took my XF's fin spoiler off and replaced it with a larger carbon fiber spoiler last year. th-cam.com/video/jlJI2djDFAs/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=JagFanHilton
That's odd. Did you check that the dashcam you bought is the identical fitting? Usually the sellers ask for a picture of your cars mirror cover before shipping to make sure it's the same.
If you have one with screws, you have to remove the cover on the trunk lid. There are little screws all round the edge that need to be undone and then it should unclip from the trunk. Then you can get access to the screws holding the spoiler in place.
Good question. The answer might shock you, because I've had a 2009 3L V6, a 2016 2L and a 2011 XFR 5L V8. I would have to say the 3L V6. It was both comfortable yo drive, old Jag feel to it still and powerful enough to haul me anywhere. The other two were great cars, but I didn't enjoy them as much for various reasons.

@I Am Neo try cleaning your leather with a leather cleaner, then apply leather feed to the leather. You can get good leather feed at shops that sell horse saddles or genuine leather furniture. You apply it with a sponge or clean cloth and let it absorb into the leather. The leather won't be slippery after that. It should never be slippery. That means someone has cleaned the leather with a chemical solvent in the past or furniture spray, which is death to leather. Leather breathes, and it dries out if not fed with a proper good leather feed, which keeps it supple and will stop it from cracking or tearing.
