  • Don't get me wrong, this blade is amazing. But in order to be functionally greater than the competition I showed, there are some modifications needed.

    Don't be fooled. Cold steel isn't cheap. Because, once you buy one, you end up buying a whole lot more.
    Thanks again for another great video

    I also exclusively carry Cold Steel,
    I Dont leave home without a Demko Triad folder on me at all times.
    My edc is my 4Max and AD10. I also rotate my larger stuff into the rotation
    As well. ✌

    Great review! I currently EDC the CS American lawman. Before that was the CS code 4, but in the winter it gets pretty cold in the pocket and on the hands. I work in construction and use it almost daily. I used to carry the AD-10, but it freaked out lots of people when they saw it. Some don't say much, but you can see it in their facial expressions. Anyway in my pocket under the toolbelt the American lawman fits pretty well.

    Just wanted to say, you inspired me to mod my new CS Bush Ranger (just handle) and it is way more comfortable. Also that little nub in front of index finger groove got in the way of opening the blade and now it is way smoother.

    Love my bushranger! Im an electrician and ive used mine to notch out 2×4 lumber in order to mount a box for a light switch by batoning it tip first into the wood and prying chunks out. Two people bought cold steel knives that week after seeing that abuse. Really nothin like a cold steel!

    I wish there was a way to slo-moe the folding of the AD-10 knife…. Just got mine, and I have two nice cuts on the index and middle fingers. The weight of the knife closing swung the blade down and the minimal contact cut me. I see you doing pretty much the same as I do, but you obviously have it down pat. I’ve replayed your process several times, but not seeing where I am doing it wrong. Great video reviews BTW…. It helps to see them demo’d like this if you’re on the fence about which one to buy.

    • @GTMGunTotinMinnesotan

      Dang, well thanks for watching man. Maybe I have my finger more forward closer to the choil when I begin closing?

    • @jimsjacob
      @jimsjacob ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan Funny you say that…. After watching I noted that you were doing it so I tried it…. LOL, got another small cut. I watched another vid regarding the AD-10 and saw that he aligned his fingernail with the blade. I tried that and it works. The contact is slight, but it was so sharp out of the box that it was making a small cut. It’s all good and thanks for the video production! Cheers.

    • @ajo4788
      @ajo4788 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I close mine I adjust in the angle in such way that weight of of blade won’t come swinging down. So instead of holding the blade up when you close try to get in the habit of aiming the blade down and the handle higher and don’t fully press the button just enough to where it starts to drop down that way the blade doesn’t fly down onto your fingers.

    • @jimsjacob
      @jimsjacob ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ajo4788 Thank you! I discovered the same a while back be didn’t update here because I figured everybody already knew that! Hah. Plus, I also release the depress level a tad quicker and it stops the blade from going too far. Cheers and thanks!

    I might have asked you about this in another video a good while ago but I can't find it. Which of these 3 knives has the most grip area? I love the AD10 but my fingers are a bit cramped holding the knife. I thought of Dremeling right behind where your pinky sits on the handle but I might just sell it. The Bush Ranger should be easier to modify since there's no metal liner. Is the Bush Ranger's handle the same size as the AD10 or is there more gripping area? Thanks.

      I own mostly spyderco, I have two bench-made knives which are OK. I rolled dice on the AD10 as on sale it costs less than a native 5 LW and was chonkly curious. I have been wanting a Chonk and beater for a while, so I bought the SR1 lite, and the AD10 as folding beaters.

  • @contrabassbob
    @contrabassbob 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's an interesting knife but the shorter grip space and half choil threw me off; I went with the Ultimate Hunter instead. That's not perfect either (wish the guard was at the end of the handle) but overall I like it. Both of mine (bought the second after the buyout lol) really needed a breakin as the lock was very stiff to unlock.
