Toyota's three-row Highlander counts fuel efficiency and the brand's reputation for reliability as its chief advantages, but when compared to other midsize SUVs, it comes up short in one of the most critical metrics: interior space. To counter that drawback, there’s the Grand Highlander, a separate model that shares half of its name but little else with the so-called standard model. Larger in every dimension it measures four inches longer than the standard Highlander, increasing cargo and passenger space far more than that small stretch suggests-especially for the third row of seats, which can comfortably accommodate adults. A turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder and eight-speed automatic driving the front wheels is standard, with all-wheel drive optional. There’s also a Grand Highlander Hybrid on offer; we review that model separately. I’ve had 2 Highlanders & a 4Runner. The Highlanders have everything you need but they’ve become very bland. Not sporty, not overly luxurious. Just a nice SUV. But again, for $55k+ there’s much more stylish choices!

@@azmannarvik7911 In Canada, its take 12 to 18 months to get it, that's what Toyota said when they took your deposit order. But real time wait is 2 years or more.

The 4 cylinder was and is a horrible engine choice, it gets bad gas mileage, it vibrates too much, and it works too hard to get up to speed, turbos don't last, and I don't want a hybrid, it should have a V6
Wish it came with a V6.
Its 365 HP tho.

I’m not a huge Toyota guy. If reliability or resale is a high priority than they are a good choice. I trade a little reliability for something fun and exciting. Toyotas have stayed bland and quite boring especially on interior

@@ChaseConrad As you grow older and your kids have their own homes and bills you will begin to have a little more money and savings. I was young once and could only afford to buy cars that were 10 years old. Such does help to save money on the car, taxes, and insurance. Being married helps the two income gig too. Work hard, don't blow your money on dumb stuff and you too one day will be able to buy what you want.
@@oldsalt8011 I am in my 40's and this year my dept will be paid of at last, and then I am done with debt the rest of my life, but I still won't be able to buy a R7900 p/m car because that is almost a 3rd of my salary. When you work in Gauteng, WC or KZN your salaries are much better then in the smaller towns where I live in, but I will rather get less money then live in a crime ridden Province. I am getting myself a Renault Kiger this year, I have eyed that car since it came out, and it is between R3000 - R4000 which I will be able to afford. I don't drink or smoke so I save there. I have taught myself to budget like a king, that is why it only took me 2 years to pay of all my debt. I don't eat take-away because that is a waste of money. Some people say they don't unfreeze meat, why not, it is much cheaper to buy a month pack of meat then something every day. I wear PEP or chinese shop clothes and wear R100 watches because I don't want to waste money on a R500 shirt or R1000 watch, makes no sense to me. I will for instance never in my life buy a 3lt turbo diesel fast car which can go to 300km/s in 5 secs because what is the use, you can never drive that fast because it is against the law and why would I go to prison for 2 mins of fun, that is why the Kiger is a mini SUV, looks great and is in my budget. I hate it when people complain about never having money, but they have a R20k home, R10k car, parties every weekend etc, live according to what you can affford, I have learnt that the hard way.
