With Musk, there is never a "final" design. Even Tesla cars from a single "model year" are highly variable. Optimus will be changing continuously, despite being a certain "model".
Did you see the movie AI? THAT is what they'll be like. There won't be Optimus version 8 or Optimus 12. There will be the Optimus brand, with 12 versions (including a large version, a medium size version, a small version, and a child version, which can appear to be male or female, or it can look unisex or sexless . . . and the other versions will come in different "flavors" too . . . and they'll be fast, smart, and extremely capable - so capable that nobody would want to hire a human to do something, but instead they will just rent or lease a robot for a week or a month or two or three, or they'll buy a robot or two . . . or three). In order to earn a living more and more people will have to start their own businesses, and many will buy or lease a robot or two in order to make that business a success, because the cost of robot labor will be about a dollar per hour, compared to human labor, which by that time in the U.S. will be about $30 per hour. Hiring people will be a thing of the past in ten years. Almost nobody will do it anymore.

I'd be pretty awesome if Optimus can perform a self diagnostic on servos and actuators for malfunction or degradation in performance. This would significantly cut down on additional service and diagnostic costs to the consumer.
Tesla build their cars like they build software - with a lot of automated tests, even for mechanical parts. So it’s a reasonable guess that Optimus will both self-test itself and self-adjust, thus compensating for wear and tear.
I think valuation will increase rapidly once Tesla sells its first robot. Before that maybe a small increase with a fabulous demonstration. Analysts and big funds won’t understand it.
I want one gifted to this old man, so, he would have lived in a robotic world. Seriously, will an Optimus robot learn on it's own without the mass computing power of CROC? Then let it access CROC to download it's learning and receive new information.
Looking forward to that as well. I must admit I was overly optimistic about the Walking problem being solved, seeing the much more natural gait of Atlas.
Of course what Tesla really really needs is for Optimus to be able to build another Optimus it’self and make advancements as necessary…subject to Elon obviously.

@10:26 I ran some models in 2021 for the OPTIMUS ....my conclusions arrived at a Ten Trillion valuation for Tesla just for the Robot! The numbers l used included 5 billion Optimi at a retail cost of _equal to or less than $20,000. That is why the numbers were close to accurate from the first day .....they were spoken by Elon years and months later. I am not smart, just able to consider the possibility of something coming to be real. Perhaps l can see the _Future Passed_ clearly or something like that .....many others carry /share that same flaw!
How do you know anything at all is true? You apply your critical thinking skills, however good or bad they may be. And let's face it; they're not too good for most people.
Your calculation is totally wrong. Assume there will be no competition, which is false. Tesla will profit from Optimus, but not at that absurd profit scale.
The robot is pretty cool, but Musk has a strong habit of over promising and under delivering. Being able to play a piano is cool, but it's just programing a sequence of moves, which is not the same as dealing with random environments to compete tasks. So I don't doubt they can do very task specific things, but doing "anything" a house maid might do for example is going to be something much more difficult. its clearly a multi trillion dollar market if they can pull it off. I'd certainly get one, but I'm skeptical that we will see a mass produced robot one within 2 years.
@@Gunter_Custom just to be clear, your response is someone must first produced a product or have done something pretty big before that person can comment on Musk over promising? I just want to make sure I understand free speech, or the ability to expect people not to promise something they cant deliver - No-one can mention that Must promised a massive fleets of Robo Taxies by 2020, or a hyperloop transporting 7.4 million people every year from Los Angeles and San Francisco in 35 minutes. Or people walking on mars within 10 to 12 years (back in 2012). It's not that he does not produce stuff, he simply over promises. He gives unrealistic time frames to boost the company. Not sure why it is evil to point this out.
Hyperloop was never on Elon's list. He published a white paper for others to run with. Loop system? Works well; just not autonomous yet. Battery swap? 😄 That was tried and rejected by Tesla owners. It's also an extremely wasteful idea since the amount of batteries needed far exceeds the number of cars. It bankrupted Better Place in Israel and is saddling Nio with massive overhead costs. Mars colonization was never advertised as "coming soon" and will happen at the same pace as Starship and Superheavy's development. Tesla Solar Roof and Tesla Semi seem to be under endless testing, development, and improvement cycles. They are both operational, just haven't reached volume production yet. CyberTruck was also there before it came out end of last year. It's ramp is accelerating. The Tesla Roadster though is inexcusable. They should have released it along with the promised 520-mile Model S Plaid Plus and 500+mile CyberTruck. If it's cake, then just make it.
I am sure this will Come some day. By 2026? I dont think so. Tesla can show us what they do at Tesla first. Until then, this is another Elon prediction. Like 4 Starships to Mars 2024. If the Tesla robot can read a random music sheet of paper and play the piano, then this will Be another era! Monumental. My prediction, no chance in Hell, optimus will be able to read and play a random piece of music on the piano. Hell no..
@6:38 Lars, as you know from my posts over the many years, the predictions l have proposed about '_Things_' especially those by Elon and Team, have included Miles per kWh of the SEMI....1.7miles per kWh which Elon confirmed a day or so after the reveal to PEPSI. My statements since first seeing OPTIMUS included that it would be able to _Play Piano_ Btw my Engineering colleagues that design Electric Wheelchairs have rejected all or almost every bloody statement put before them.....my mentor even told me on day one in August 21 that the humanoid by Tesla can NEVER happen and NOT at my projected _equal to or less than $20,000_ Well, what more can l say for them to even consider the possibility.
The robots being developed are to replace humans in Tesla factory, very much different to humanoid PA. Japan elderly care robots lead in development. Robos not likely to become main stream anytime sn, utopia musk sees is long-term and misleading time frames
With primitives he might mean parts of a task. Soo the robot will split everything into simpler step by step tasks, maybee they make a "language" out of this, and it might search a solutionspace fot a task. "Robotaxi" is literally a robotic taxi. With OTA updates to vehicles and the Tesla App, when FSD becomes unsupervised, the Robotaxi App enhancements will enable ANY Tesla model S3XY and Cybertruck with HW3/HW4+ to become a Robotaxi! From day one!!! "Cybercab" is a two-seater autonomous-only instantiation of a Robotaxi. This auto, being a "cyber" vehicle, will have 48V, steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, Etherloop, and wireless charging. Tesla bought that wireless charging technology company for a very good reason! The Cybervan will be along the same lines and be staffed with Optimus robot(s). Robotaxi Day is not being called Cybercab Day or Cybervan Day for a very good reason. So, Robotaxi Day could still happen on 8/8/24 while Cybercab Day is delayed to October to build more prototypes. Or, they could coincide to maximize the thunder! Don't bet against Elon!
Did you know that Tesla sold that wireless charging company it bought within 9 months of buying it .. Because they figured out it would not work for their needs .. 😂
@@Gunter_Custom I know they sold it after gleaning the technology and the best people from the company. They got what they wanted. Anybody want to research on uspto.gov what patents the company held before Tesla bought them, that were then assigned to Tesla before they sold the company? That would be very interesting and revealing. "According to The Robot Report, Tesla’s acquisition of Wiferion was more of an “acqui-hiring” situation. The automaker kept Wiferion’s engineering team on board and sold its operations and manufacturing business to PULS." Of course, we will find out on 10/10/24 if the Cybercab is charged wirelessly, via cord, or both available. So any argument we have now will be irrelevant, time will tell. It just makes total sense that a driverless Cybercab would need wireless charging to work at scale. Supercharger sites would need to add wireless pad(s), but companies that purchase fleets of Cybercabs will also want to strategically deploy charging pads.

The new long range model 3 is 35k. How much cheaper do you want? If you can't afford that, go to school and advance your career
No, give me an affordable robot. A car I can hail in about two years instead of owning one.
Humanoid robots eliminating the jobs of auto workers would create a cheaper car
Your statement is a paradox
Will the Bot enjoy watching a movie with you??? Movie could teach the Bot by watching a movie
Bots don't waste time watching movies. 😂😂
At least not at human comprehension speeds .. 😂
Thanks for the continuous updates! All we need is the right advice on how to invest in crypto and we will be set for life, made $28,000 profit last week regardless of how bad it gets on the economy.
The automaker kept Wiferion’s engineering team on board and sold its operations and manufacturing business to PULS."
Of course, we will find out on 10/10/24 if the Cybercab is charged wirelessly, via cord, or both available.
