The writers and bandai itself did a great move to introduce this kit after its initial debut and its more than you expected... A fitting ending to the series itself with a splash! Also, to think Calibarn is nothing but a monster from Shakespeare's tempest, it also a sword from the arthurian legend. Suletta's view of the gundam is not a freak, but a sword to save the people she cared the most. ❤
Also when Calibarn appear on battle it's also reference on other, Gundam Unicorn when Unicorn ready to battle Banshee plus add the epic Music : Re I am

Kinda upset the witch from mercury ended because these have been my favorite kits to come out recently. The rebuild and lfrith being some of my all time favorites. This kit isn’t available for me yet, but I’m 100% picking this up the moment I can get my hands on it.

End of an era right here. But at least we're ending with a bang. I got into Gunpla before I really started watching Gundam, so your review of the Lfrith was what informed me of Witch from Mercury. I went and watched the first two episodes that were out at the time, and I was not disappointed. There's part of me that wishes we got another season, but I also am satisfied with what we did get. Now I just need the rest of my models that I ordered to get out of backorder status...
The foot articulation you mentioned at the end is for the "high-mobility" mode I think. The heel vent is supposed to bend 180 with the toe to make it look like boosters or something.
The Calibarn is really an anomaly and at the same time the holy grail of the Witch from Mercury. You would think that a Gundam that appeared out of nowhere at the end of the anime wouldn't receive much attention but instead Calibarn instantly became a fan favorite, just something about it's design just works, the simple aesthetics, the never seen before broom and the cool rainbow permet Ps: IGGYYYYYYYY!
0:36 heard this from a korean friend but apparently in one of the gbn in kr it says 'you can permet 5 with a red felt tip/name pen' so good tip honestly
The gundam and jeturk frames were the most impressive for me in this line, and I cant wait to see what kind of HGs will come in the next original line of gunpla. Those builds were really simple and so full of detail, impressive.
Semi-inner frame, weapon and shield have gimmicks that allow you to pose it a variety of ways, and it even comes with a stand. What a kit indeed. All that plus a solid design that rewards panel lining and this solid polycap-less builds they do now. Amazing.
I'm SOO glad they didn't have Calibarn actually ride the broomstick cannon like you showed... that would have been WAY too on the nose and look utterly ridiculous! XD
The Calibarn definitely plays up the witch aspect of the anime with that rifle/thruster combo weapon. I'm surprised it can't ride it like a witch's broom.
Dude.. The second I heard that The Witch from Mercury kits came out, I rushed to my local Gunpla shop and there was already a line in front of the shop. I wanted to get the trio Aerial, Lfrith, and Calibarn. Luckily, I got my hands on one of the last Aerial kits but I couldn't get Lfrith and Calibarn
I just finished watching the anime and went on and ordered a bunch of kits. I can’t wait to add this one to the collection as well. Also, while watching the anime in English, the “rubris” is simply called Lfrith, with a strong L (El).
Whenever there’s one of weird pronunciation splits like with Banaji/Bannagher, Byaran/Byarlant etc. I just tend to stick with the Japanese because I feel like it was the intended pronunciation by the creators for whatever reason
Since the new series of gunpla came out, HG has offered a new definition! I loved the pearl/aurora V fin and can't wait for bandai to redefine other grades in the future! Keep up the reviews Gaikotsu!

You forgot something for the bit-on form. The grey sections of the Escutcheon can actually go INTO that backskirt, and be splayed out. But, as you'd always say... your kit, display it how you wish.
I also noticed the masculine aspects of Calibarn. And I was expecting it to have the soul of Eri's father like Aerial has the soul of Eri. Kind of surprised they didn't go that route. Still really dig the design of this kit. Hopefully I can find one soon.

The colour of the permet here is when Ericht assimilated with the Calibarn. It is when the shield gund bits moved to the Calibarn. It’s a more powered version. Basically the Calibarn’s final form in the series.
Like you, I'm literally fell in love with the Calibarn from my first glance of its feet!!! And somehow I konw it will definitely be a better kit than Schwarzette even though I can't remenber which pics I saw, the CGI or the completed pics from bandai. Already the first in line gundam kit on my next batch of gundam purchase! PS: And I have to add that I had the same crush on Aerial because of its face, cute but menacing!
Ya know, I actually like the Iridescent over the red here, I think that's pretty unique and I'd be happy to try and use Calibarn for a Custom one day because of it.

The Witch from Mercury quickly became my favorite Gundam Series (Gundam Wing has that mantel since the 90's) And Calibarn is now tied with Wing Zero and I want to do a kitbash between the 2 to make a my ultimate High Grade. (If they ever do a real grade Calibarn it will be that, Wing Zero Ew, and 00 Qun[t].)
Ok, Calibarn looks awesome with Rebuild’s backpack, especially if it was white. It has the 4 panel that opens wide to match her broom which also has four panel that opens to boost her. And like always, Pharact’s backpack is just the coolest.
Now this isn’t me dissing the kit, but my D1/21 part was cracked completely when I bought it. Thankfully, Calibarn’s outer helm parts sandwiched it nicely, barely noticeable. Rest of the build was great 10/10
You’re really lucky to have one. I preordered this a few weeks ago. But when it released, it’s still processing while the others are sold out in hobbylink and Plaza Japan. I wanted to straight build with one set while making a custom Gunpla with the other.
I live how they've taken the modularity explored in IBO and build gunpla and the other concepts explored in kits like the leo, moon gundam, and anniversary 72-3, and have released such a gorgeous, customise able, fun series of gunpla for WFM.
In some aspects this reminds me of i.b.o ( which is one of favorite series. ) this suit reminds me of the vidar. Then there's the calibarn.... nothing negative but gundam always repeats Itself. I still buy the kit's and watch all the series antway. 😊😂
Well I finally caved in. I’ve been resisting HG’s since I like the size and detail of MG’s and absolutely love the two VerKa’s I have. But have to admit this one was pretty nice. Super easy to build and looks good on the shelf next to kits like the RG Hi-Nu, Eclipse and Nu VerKa
Didn't get the full bit-on form here. Those gray gund bits should be attached to the butt flap like with the aerial. Even so, great review! Calibarn really deserves the Gundarium tier.
You've attached the Gund bits in the backpack the wrong way!!! the white outer parts were supposed to attach to the backpack, and the gray bits were supposed to attach in the butt flap. The gray heel part were supposed to go down all the way together with the foot pointing down for the high maneuverability mode... it's not just for assisting with standing.
So.. is nobody else pointing out how he didn't put the grey Bits into the buttflap, like how it is in the show???? I dunno, it just kinda bugged me when he left them on the larger wing bits.. I mostly find it interesting that they found a bit on form that separated the wing bits..
i found one in a secondhand shop last month during my trip n japan (bookoff kawasaki, its within walking distance of my grandparent's house). My dumb ass thought it was too expensive at the time being priced at 1800 yen, it was my first day there so i left it there and went back home to discuss with my friends. The next day i went back its gone so i got a Darilbalde instead :D
Funny that I missed the show watching this review. Remember that Suletta was enduring the pain of Perment Score 5 while piloting this thing, and she was not just piloting, she was shooting down a bunch of drone MS.
Theres a neat little trick ive been seeing on line to get the red permit, people have literally just been going over the stickers with a red gundam marker which just tints the whole thing red

The biggest problem with the Calibarn was how little screen time it got. Such a cool suit. The brightest stars burn for half as long.

From what ive seen and what ive done myself is that you can paint the stickers or use red markers to get the permet four colors.
HGWFM has been an incredible line! Really hoping for some MGs

This kit is really cool, but my favorite kits from HGTWFM line are still Michaelis in term of design and Lfrith in term of articulation.

For some reason, this kit feels like the most TWFM kit worth to have. From all others kit, this is the first TWFM kit I have to grab!

Theres a neat little trick ive been seeing on line to get the red permit, people have literally just been going over the stickers with a red gundam marker which just tints the whole thing red
