    Nepotism amplifies mediocracy in any industry. When you are elevated for not being talented, you elevate people that are mediocre, lowering the standard and therefore making mediocracy the goal.

      Speaking of the acting industry... I'm seeing a lot of built in "nepotism" ( or maybe just using industry connections) when it comes to established musicians. Many of them are getting lots of acting roles/ opportunities with limited acting experience under their belts due to their "big names" as opposed to a more seasoned/ established actor who can do a more solid acting performance. I find that very interesting

A nepo would be less inclined to star in a movie like "Call me by your name". He understood he had to start small & the little things is what made him viral in 2020 and his fans staying loyal. Honestly art in all forms is BUILT off of nepotism. I get shocked everytime I found out almost every “new” actor is connected to a famous actor in either the golden age of Hollywood or somewhere else. Even being in art galleries, you need connections to (make it big). Which is very telling, it’s not about talent it’s about networking. When I went to art school I realized none of the classes were really meaningful cuz guess what….it’s about business, connections, and word of mouth.

A good example is Johnny Depp, acting chose him while he was a broke musician & ended up falling in love with acting after a few lucky castings. His daughter Lily doesn't seem to have the same work ethic, Johnny was in an awesome TV show & making challenging movies every years to support his entire extended family & actually got nervous when he thought he'd get fired in the 80's/90s. He worked hard on the TV show "21 Jump street" day till midnight. Just Like Will Smith his kids are entitled, spoiled & they drag their feet to produce 15% of what a truly creative person would come up with in spaces other people can't get opportunities in. Everyone hates nepotism until they have a kid and have the ability to give them opportunities they couldn’t give themselves or their parents couldn’t give them. 🤷🏾
    People will always want to build networks and relationships that they can later exploit to the benefit of their family and friends. MORE people should be like this - blatantly help their friends because they’re THEIR FRIENDS and stop thinking theirs some level of respectability that comes from holding everyone to the same standard. When people are born with wealth and connections the nepotism is just the cherry on top.

I remember names like Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Kate Moss and Yasmeen Ghauri. They all looked like unreal glamazons with delicate features but all had a unique and mesmerising look about them, almost as if they weren’t born of this planet. Now days, most of the models are generically pretty like they’ve all been copy pasted from the same uterus or won a local competition on campus or at a plaza/mall.

    A little off topic …
    Though I’m disappointed that the “super models”, the one’s who have been wildly successful, made generationally wealthy … rarely make any … stand against all the abuses of both female & male models. These historically “super” models are more concerned with protecting their later careers in fashion, their famous fashion leader friends, perhaps potentially then careers in acting, even their progeny’s (Nepo) opportunities …
    not saying *anything* publicly … to improve abuses & to protect models from the predators, … for with all the evidence of historical & ongoing sex-abuse of relatively powerless models. Realistically, models have 2 choices - navigate the sex-abuse somehow, or quit.
    I was a male model, for about 5 minutes, at one of the top agencies. Was the top agency for male models. I left immediately, cause I couldn’t imagine spending my every workday fencing off bizarre sexual advances. I’m 6’2, athletic, stubborn … so none of the creeps ever got anywhere with me. But, I’ve seen the abuse that other models have to navigate - without voice which could be heard,
    I instead pursed bronze casting sculpture, other arts forms, education - and never had a single weird sex-aggression in other fields.
    Again, I’m just disappointed that the top models have not talked about the depravities, the sex-pressuring, the sex-assaults … that models have to regularly contend with. Far too often Modeling can be essentially turned into trafficking into escorting. “Yachting”

    • @Autumnleafinthewind

    • @AstroBuoyant
      @AstroBuoyant 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If a model speaks up, “super” or aspiring, they will be shunned and their career … & Gala invites will end.
      Though the abusers are mostly from the real *industry* of systemic model abuse … those within the fashion industry, the “recruiters”, the powerful within the fashion industry, .. & the wealthy adjacents, the “Miss” & “ Teen” pageant owners, Wex’s Jeffery Epstein, … the billionaire oligarchs who regularly dip into the stream … of young, sometimes really young/underage … aspiring models, many from relatively impoverished families in “Eastern Europe” but really from problematic everywheres. - the qualude duo - Hugh Heffner/Bill Cosby.
      Very few aspiring models have bodyguards to escort & protect during the auditions, “helpful parties”, shoots, shoots at “exotic locations” (Yachting)
      Blaming “Celebrities” is kind of a red herring. Kind of a sound-bite cliche. Some like to use the word “Celebrities”, as the bogeymen, to blame for everything. While Celebrities do live entitled lives, while/if they can hold on to their money, … these are just the most visible. Celebrities do not have to pursue “romance” as much. More likely the banker, a big time broker, fund manager, tech leader, the corporate board members, captains of industry, politicians, charlatans, billionaires, oligarchs, record executives.
      If you’ve ever been around the wealthiest areas of LA: Bel-Air, Malibu, Calabasas … the biggest houses aren’t owned by known celebs, but by the lesser known corporate executives.

    I’m not saying modelling requires no talent, but like… it’s literally just walking and looking pretty. Which means it’s also something that can be easily faked and copied, and easier for nepo babies to sneak in.

      As far as I know is about looking pretty and attractive but also looking good in the clothes and being able to show them the way they want you to.

    From interviews, it seems Gigi is nice. Supermodel? Absolutely not. Bella....possible. Kendall....kinda. But I'm trying to figure out why they all only shoot for modeling as an aspiration. The choice screams "pay attention to me and look at me because im just as great as my parent." It's crazy sad.

    Girls, let's be clear. Models don't create anything, they just walk the runway. Their role is to make clothes more beautiful and attractive to CONSUMERS. This is a business and it needs to make a profit. So they will prefer models with familiar faces. Talking about nepotism or mediocrity borders on envy. This is not a career where you need to work hard. Just be tall, thin and photogenic. Stop it. Let's study to be doctors, lawyers or scientists. And stop feeding the fashion industry that only encourages consumerism and the destruction of the environment. Let's study!

    • @BaraAleia
      @BaraAleia 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Probably controversial, but I have no respect or admiration for models. Anyone can take a good picture and walk well if they are directed and practice for literally just 1 hour. It requires barely nothing other than luck and pretty privilege, and you can not convince me otherwise. "I'm trying to be a model but the industry is hard :(" oh boohoo you, what did you expect from the literal most superficial and most fake space in the world? You admire someone bc they take good pictures? What? I wish it didn't exist.

    Nepotism is a industry wide issue. Look at your family atleast someone has a job because their dad, mom, aunt, wife etc worked in the same company & industry. The problem starts where nepos push out regular pls chances to get a shot in a industry & also the delusion of nepos not realizing their priviledge. They reject the fact that they started on the 5th rung of the ladder. It becomes a bigger issue when geing a nepo is the onoy way to get your foot in the door.

To me Kendall is just boring and Average Pretty and there are way prettier girls out there then Kendall. But i guess the whole modeling Landscape has changed today to be more about who can attract the most in Social Media and Personality . Hell i guess anybody can call themselves a model now if they got famous Celebrity Parents .

    I mean...so? Nepotism exists in a lot of industries and it's nothing new. Plenty of people competing in the olympics are the kids of successful athletes, many of your favorite NBA players have a pro daddy, half of Hollywood have parents with Wiki bios. You could even go back to the 1800s where kids were getting to lead companies or expeditions because of their parents. That's life, it's always been about who you know. These videos are dumb and solve nothing. You think the creative director at Balmain is going to chose a "nobody" over Kendall Jenner. Of course not. Like, be for real. And why do we even care, no one watching this video would be any closer to being a model if nepotism wouldn't exist.

    Modelling is a talent? No hate but isn’t it about having the right body and face for modelling? That has nothing to do with talent. It’s what you’re born with. You’re either scouted, you audition with that face and body, or as the point of this video, the right last name. Where does the talent come in?

    Hadid and Gerber although the latter looks too average for a supermodel are still OK and have what it takes to be models (a little secret - it takes 99,99% looks and looks ONLY, let's name the elephant in the room). Especially Gigi. Also Eaten Hawk's daughter (I think her name was Rose but I may be wrong) is beautiful and has what it takes. But Nicole Kidman's daughter? C'mon! And it's NOT because of her walking, let's face it, her walking is fine, it's her *gliness, the poor girl is just *gly, however political incorrect I might sound, but we all know that's the uncovinient truth.
