    Hi, I’ve just subscribed, I was diagnosed with OSA and been using a cpap machine for 16 months with no benefit, my sleep clinic called me to ask why i haven’t used my machine in a while as they can see my data. As I explained that I wasn’t feeling the benefit from the cpap machine, as I told the sleep nurse this she said “oh you don’t have OSA you have CSA!!!! All this time I’ve been on the wrong machine. I’m due to collect the Bipap machine on the 9th may 2024. , and I’m hoping I will feel less tired!!

    • @Sleeplayground
      @Sleeplayground  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, that should of been realized sooner. I am glad you reached out, a lot of times the report is not looked at until you bring it to there attention or go in for a visit. If you went in for visits during that 16 month period, they should of noticed the event types and the amount you were having per hour. Usually you need to fail on the CPAP then you can get retested for the BIPAP through the insurance. Either way I am happy you are getting this resolved and getting the BIPAP. Let us know if anything is needed, we would be happy to help!

    Hi James, thank you for your videos . Very informative.. I have 1 suggestion and 1question. Suggestion is that you should also talk about connectivity for the oxygen line.. most patients use oxygen support along with BiPAP. I don't have any idea but I was told that oxygen supply can be added to this apparatus.
    Question is :For a patient who is used to just a simple oxygen nasal cannula, which mask would you recommend to start with ? A nasal one or a full face mask.. recommended settings are 8/4

    • @Sleeplayground
      @Sleeplayground  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi,
      Sorry for the late response! So yes the main point of the video was to focus on the BIPAP machine itself. Not so much of the connectivity of the hoses and other accessories, but I apologize for not mentioning. Yes, you can run your oxygen through you PAP machine with a O2 Adapter link is provided below. I would say as far as the mask I would use whatever mask you are comfortable with. There would not be a specific mask if you are using oxygen with your PAP machine. However the nasal mask are my personal choice but everybody has there own choice of mask.

      Yes and do apologize for that. It was just a general overview did not want to make to confusing or go off onto different subjects. Maybe we can do a video on what the doctor's look for or how to know it is working for you. Some people respond in a video it was too much information, lol! Thank you so much for watching.

    New sub here. Thank you for discussing this machine I just got. It would be so helpful to understand what everything means in the sleep report. At this bottom my AHI, Total AI and Central AI never seems to change and they are always lower than my Events Per Hour. I am so confused.

    • @Sleeplayground
      @Sleeplayground  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ann,
      Yes, this Is James reaching out! So your events per hour would be the AHI. That would consist of the (Apneas) = when you stop breathing completely 10 seconds or greater. The (Hypopnea) = when you have shallow breathe 10 seconds or greater. The (Index) of those events per hour = AHI. The OAI is the obstructive apnea index when the airway closes due to obstruction. The CAI are the central apnea Index when you stop breathing to to the brain not telling the respiratory to breathe. The AHI should be the same as the Events on average. Please let me know if that helps a little, I will do my best to help further.

    • @Sleeplayground
      @Sleeplayground  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry and the UAI is the unspecified events. They usual make the AHI or events seem higher. They usually come from excessive leakage.

    Hi. May I please ask some questions. I've used this machine for 3 nights. The second night, the water chamber went dry and my mouth was dry. The third night the water chamber did not go dry but my mouth was so dry that I couldn't even suck on a straw to moisten it. Questions: 1) Do I need to adjust humidity? 2) Do I need another type of mask to reduce any mouth air loss? 3) The chin strap looks as complicated as a mouth/nose mask. Any benefit to using the chin strap vs. a full mask? Many thanks!

    • @Sleeplayground
      @Sleeplayground  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi,
      Thanks for asking! Sometimes if there is high leakage the water will evaporate from the chamber. So if your mouth if getting dry regardless of whether the chamber is dry or not, there is not enough humidity. Raise the setting one increment at a time until your comfortable. To determine if another mask is needed it is recommended you practice with the mask you have at least 2 to 3 weeks, to determine the issues you are having. That way you can determine the proper mask if another is needed. As far as the chinstrap vs. full face. I would say the full face mask will always be more prone to leaking, because there is a bigger silicone seal around the face. If you can do a nasal or nasal pillow even with a Bipap and a mouth tape or chinstrap, it should limit the leakage for sure.

    I have this same exact one, but a snow flake pops up near the green bars indicating that it’s cold and it makes me uncomfortable. How can I set it to warm where I don’t get a stuffy nose?

    • @Sleeplayground
      @Sleeplayground  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, thanks for reaching out! The snowflake pops up when the machine is off indicating it is cooling the motor down, When you see that snowflake a light air will come from the machine. It is not on just cooling the motor. If you want to raise the humidity if you have the heated tubing and go into my option you can go to climate control select and change to manual and then select humidity level and increase one level at a time untl it is right for you.

    I have a ResMed AirCurve10 Vauto. I just got it. I submerged the water chamber (top and bottom) in some soapy water and rinsed to let it air dry. Is that okay? Also on the nasal pillows that have the AirFit P30i QuietAir filtered vent. Can I submerge, this in soapy water and rinse and shake and air dry? Thank you!

      Hi,
      Thanks for reaching out! You can not check the total hours on the machine. You would have to be registered in Airview which is Resmed's online support. Your doctor or the company you purchased from should be able to view the total hours. I believe as well you can download the app MyAir on your phone and view that way.

    Hi there. I had just gotten this machine today (have yet to use it) and I was confused as I don’t know if there is an on/off switch. Right now I have the mask hooked to the machine and there is a cool breeze coming from the nose piece and I’m wondering if this means it’s actively running or not. I’ve clicked on the start button and it blows out a strong gust of air compared to the weaker air trickle. Is that normal? I’m afraid of messing up the timer that records my sleep ^^;;
    Sorry for the book of text! Thanks in advance.

    • @Sleeplayground
      @Sleeplayground  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the power is above the machine the large rectangular button. Yes, if you press on and not wearing the mask it will shut off. But whenever the machine is off after running there will be a slight breeze coming out which means it is cooling the motor down. Also you will see a snowflake in the corner appear to show it is. Let us know if you have further questions, we will be happy to help!

    Some practical details from someone who use it since 2015 : you have an electrical 90W brick for power supply that you can use with AC everywhere in the world : 100 to 240 V and 50 or 60 Hz AC current. Just buy the proprer plug with a C7 female connector (around 5 EUR/USD/GBP) that goes into the power brick of your device, and everything would be fine for you all around the world ! I brought mine at the hotel during my travels, no problem at all. Just, in the airport, if you have to show it to the security, tell them there is no liquid oxygen in it, just a turbine powered by an electric motor. I had done that at Belfast international Airport with mine.
    Next test for me : run it on a battery in a night train. Might do the job...

    • @TheBrothergreen

      3 things effect how much water is consumed by a PAP device. 1) Pressure 2) is the humidifier and 3) is mouth leak/ mask leak. This is probably your problem if your humidifier is going empty after 4 hours.
      You can also consider placing a humidifier in the room. That should also help considerably.

    • @Sleeplayground
      @Sleeplayground  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely agree! I would say either lower your humidity level on machine, check and adjust the mask make sure all connected properly. You can maybe set your ramp time for longer to avoid the pressure going up right away if you are using at high pressures. Good info Brothergreen appreciate that!
