A friend of a friend has one for a few hundred paired with the Canon 70 - 200 2.8 ultrasonic. Wondering if it's worth it just for the lense if it works 🤔
Canon has those error codes to tell you what is wrong with the camera usually. My g2 said error 23 and it's definitely the lens retractor. You can the list in threads floating around on dp reviews threads
Yeah I was gutted. Can’t get shutters anymore and to be fair, not financially worth it really. Still keep wanting a 1d x or maybe the R3……but I’m a committed Sony boy nowadays and switching across would cost too much.
@IanMacdonald02 You can get a Canon 1D Mark III for around 200.. I use 3 of the plus 3 Canon 1DX both models will do a 16x20 the Mark III is 10.1 megapixel the X is 18 the Canon markII is only 8 megapixel and the Mark III is a much better camera! Now the Canon 1D IV is 16.1 megapixel and is a great camera and you can find them for around 400 And the mirrorless cameras to me don't really impress me! It's the photographer not the camera!
@@garyanderson5609 i absolutely agree, sensor tech hasn’t really changed in the last 15/20 years. Yeah focus has but the image is the image. And the right person (and glass sometimes) is better than the wrong person with the gear. That said, Sony’s new global shutter IS a new sensor tech. But most people really really don’t need that!!
@@garyanderson5609this whining analogy of "it's the photographer not the camera" is a bit silly. Let's give you the barbie doll camera and see if you think the same afterwards 😂
Haha yeah for sure, I was just sooo tempted by the chance. Plus, they know what a failed shutter looks like they could have identified that too haha, worth a shot tho
Am currently looking on a similar site at a 1DX with 700k Shutter Count and Dust in the View Finder or a 1DX with a Million Clicks and NO DUST in the view finder. Both the same price.... so you know which one I'm buying..... the one with no dust in the View finder! Haha!
Haha yeah it would have been a winner for sure. The only problem is, it’s left me loving that pro body feeling! Although god it’s heavy haha. Need that 2nd camera though….it’s on my mind now haha
I have one of these from a flea market. works perfectly but i'm unsure wether it would still be a good camera to shoot with in 2022 and whether or not i should just sell it...
I think it would still be a cool camera to shoot on in 2022, I keep thinking of doing a little ‘can you tell which camera’ type shoot with the latest Sony Vs some of these old canon cameras. I suspect when viewed on mobile phones, people probably can’t tell the difference.
2023 - I just bought an "Excellent Condition" version from MPB in France (€239 - £220 UK). I'll use and abuse it for the 6 month warranty period, to make sure it's a keeper. My logic has always been that great cameras don't become bad cameras just because technology moves on. This was the Pro camera of choice in 2004-2006, covering all the main global sports events (including the Athens Olympics). It was $4,000 at launch, the price of a decent used car, and now it's available for 200 quid, the price of a decent night out in town with the missus. To be honest I'm happy to put it on a shelf, next to some of my vintage film cameras. I see it as a bit of a design classic. Canon usually got it just about right with their Mark2 cameras. The 5D mk1 was a game-changer but the 5D mk2 is still a usable "modern" camera (Trust me, the Mk1 is lovely but far from modern. Worth owning for the colours though).. Anyway.... 3 days until my 1DN arrives. Can't wait.
I’ve just stumbled across a Channel, Tin House Studio and he creates add campaigns worth £10’000 + and says the same thing. Camera bodies are a waste of money, all about lenses. He only moved from his 1d ii because tethering was no longer supported, shoots all his stuff on the 5ds or 5dii. Take a look it’s great. Sensor tech hasn’t really changed, yes faster shooting bigger files faster autofocus, but still Life or non sports stuff, you can get the same stunning images out of a 10 year old camera. I haven’t replaced my broken 1d…..but I am tempted to pick another one up with a nifty fifty as a 3rd body. Just to prove it can be done for under £300 for both with stunning results.
The EF mount is the newer mount for digital camera’s, having been recently replaced by the RF mount. It depends what you are after, EF generally speaking is the better option but there are some CLASSIC lenses that are FD mount and for those you can buy adapters to put them on your ef cameras
You know it!! I’ve priced up selling my Sony bodies and glass so many times to go back over to Canon. I’d go from 2 bodies with a good range of glass, to a R3 and 1 lens……..still tempted though haha
It came to me damaged. There wasn’t a shutter count on it, but the camera looked in great condition based on looks I would have said under 50k easily. So I took the chance…..I was wrong
It didn’t say, and I don’t think you can retrieve it on these ones. Not sure though. It looked like it was sun 50k compared to my other cameras for sure
Naa, I bought it broke so took my chance. And it wasn’t worth repairing, a new shutter would have been £50 plus time. I managed to sell it for £60, with the correct problem listed so it was all ok

I think the guys at mpb would be clued up enough to know if its an easy fix, nice try though 😄

is the EF mount system better than the FD system?

Anybody know the name of the first music set on this video?
It was from epidemic sounds, I’ll probably still have it on the computer so will take a look later and come back to you 👍
It was a p Diddy / Drake collaboration 😂. Still like it? 🤣🤣

On my my list of things to buy haha
Time for an R3 then.

How much was the shutter count before damage ? Or it came to You damaged?
