I don't think most people understand the talent and work it takes to play such an expressive piece (even one like this of a slower tempo). Bravo Mr. Ratelle!
Dear David! The situtation - you with the guitar and the menacing black piano in the background - reminds me of Granada. The alhambra is like your musik, light and peaceful, the piano seems to be similar to a robust and square and menacing building near by, built by some catholic king after the reconquista. Thank you for reminding me!
I've just heard the Goran Solscher version played on an eleven string guitar. Remarkable . . . But then I found your version on a standar spanish guitar . . . And I have to say that this version is the one I love and the one I'm going to keep as the one that I consider the best and most beautifoul of everyone I'm your fan . . .
it´s not about being popular,,, but do good work as he did... there are millions of people in the level of Segovia, Yepes, Bream and others ... but remain unknown... an it´s not a shame ... shame is in the musical industry that makes them as if they were unique and god like . Here on youtube you can see amazing players as him, but not expect them to be famous... industry that makes it . Put a few players on top. It has never been fair.
Bellissima interpretazione David. Credo tu abbia espresso il massimo dalla 6 corde (cosa in questo capolavoro di waiss veramente arduo). Complimenti. Spero di sentirti suonare dal vivo
A fine performance of a transcription in Am (original Gm) - various editions of the latter exist for guitarists, e.g. 'Treasures of the Baroque' (Vol. 2) by David Grimes, pp. 122-125) - publisher Merl Bay Inc..
I think this best rendition on the 6 string. I also like Mark Anthony version on the 13 string guitar. Like all guitar with the massive power in the bass and the single treble strings and lower renege it sounds much different than from the lute. Whether you like the guitar better not being a purest to the original sound than the guitar version is beautiful also. The phrasing is definitely different than lute version being the lute is more straight forward as exposed to the guitar with a lot more rubato. For me the lute conterpuntal or counterpoint in the voices are more distinctly more clear and visible the the ear. I still perfer the lute version because I want to know what Weiss really sounded like. I am considering learning this piece on my 10 string.
Clear melodic phrasing in the fast parts with a tempo just perfect.
Definitely the best rendition of this piece on youtube even after 11 years!
What a pleasure to hear you play!
...moved me to tears with this one :D
2:18 , so much passion in that single phrase................................
Perfect choice of tempo for this piece.
A definitive performance - I have not heard a more pleasing version.
This is definitely the best version I've ever heard of Ciaccone. Such a talented guitarist and yet somehow I've never heard of him before.
mi associo
This performance deserves million views
That is the melody of my soul! Thank you very much
Probably the best version I've heard so far.

complimenti, è raro che si riesca ad associare un suono eccellente ad una splendida esecuzione: lei è riuscito.
Ancora complimenti.
