I discovered Weiss through your performance and fell in the rabbit hole. But still after hours and hours, I keep coming back to your duet version of this Chaconne, simply because it is the most beautifull that can be heard.
Extraordinary reconstruction of what shouls have been the original composition! (And I loved the small statue portaying Yuri Gagarin , aside J.S. Bach)
It's funny, but true. I often put the YT 'Lutes' playlist on while working at my desk, but I always seem to end up watching the Lute Duo videos over and over again. They're magical. So much for my productivity...
What kind of peace that takes away from the hustle and bustle flows from everything in this video: from the sounds of beautiful music, from the soulful faces of performers, from this slow rotation of the tape recorder reels, from the smooth oscillation of the candle flame, from the composer's eyes on the canvas, from the whole entourage of the room, and even from the bust of Gagarin :)
I am so happy to have found this video. I am so grateful you played this Chaconne and posted it on youtube. Lovely, beautiful and deeply moving. I never understand why lute music became almost extinct. It touches the depths of human heart. Beautiful.
Listening to this chaconne (played solo), together with other compositions, including Francesco da Milano, in a recording by Guy Robèrt, many years ago, that I fell in love with the lute.
As you record your exquisite interpretations of those beautiful pieces with analog tapes, I think it'd be interesting to release some of your work on vinyl (with no digital mastering of course). At least you would have 1 instant buyer: me.
Wonderful interpretation and performance. Thank you both! I am a recovering classical guitarist surrendering myself to the lute ...or trying to. Mr Birula: Is there a specific lute, or lutes, that your swan neck lute is patterned after? Also, what is the string length for the bass courses, and the length for the 8 other courses?
The lute is after Burkholzer ( body) the neck is by Richard Berg who made this lute. String length is 69/92, thus making long basses not too long and makes it nicer to reach pegs when tunning. Thank you for watching!
1.RESPECT 2.If you dont mind me asking, what do you do for a living ( assuming that you spend a significant amount of time on practice on a regular basis most likely).
Hello! I have a few questions about this piece. I found it in the london manuscript, but the second lute is missing. i think it is lost isnt it? so is that your interpretation for the second lute or can i find this anywhere? i couldnt find any other voices for chamber music or duets in this manuscript at all, i think its all lost or am i wrong?

Ars longa, vita brevis!
thanks that's my first introduction to Slvius Weiss, beautifully played thanks soo much
Brilliant performance! Hypnotic music of a brilliant composer! Thank you very much!
Weiss and Bach... 2 minds in 1 heart... of God...
this is how Weiss should be played with the 13 c B- lute
nice, slow and so fluent with a beautiful sound - keep up the excellent performances

Lovely..
Amazing interpretation. It is always a pleasure to listen to you.
que belleza
Anna je krasavice.
Bonito!🙏🏻❤️💐👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇧🇷🖖🏻
The best video of this Weiss Chaconne on TH-cam! Were you to adapt it to be played on 2 baroque lutes? 👏👏👏👏👏
Anna broke the code of the original original score. Maybe Gagarin was an inspiration;) Thanks!
@@antonbirula6750 Extraordinary! Congratulations!!!
¡Bravo!
We heard that version, we doubt it was by Weiss and we tried to do our oun solution:) Thanks for you comment!
just before 2:00, a moment I love.
WOW!!!
Bach brought us to the stars spiritually and Gagarin phisically:)

Lovely performance. What type of strings do you use on your lutes (NNG, rectified nylon, fluorocarbon)?
Is this music available in regular notation (not lute tablature)? You sound great!
Not really sure.... the Chaconne is by Lully so it is avaliable. Sent us an email please at info@luteduo.com
Beautiful... Is there not a way to purchase a download of your albums?
Thanks for your feedback:) We stand firmly for CD, LP or Tape, sorry. You are welcome to order CDs from luteduo.com
@@antonbirula6750 could one buy tapes of you? I would love that.

wow
i believe that this music is much more expressive than you play
Are you guys married?
Yes, almost 20 years soon:)))

Thank you! Besides your correct observations, Gagarin took us to the stars phisycally as Bach did spiritually!
