I have been a student of his for 4 years and was at his house today. He played this piece for me. I was just ...speechless. The word MAESTRO is very deserving.
Mr Sakellariou, bravo pour cette interprétation, je travaille cette chaconne et j'apprécie beaucoup votre jeu: où se procurer la partition précise de cette pièce que vous jouez dans cette vidéo? Merci infiniment. A. Laurenson
I assume this is the 1a guitar. I have the 2a made by Graham Emes whilst he was Stephen's apprentice. My guitar is also fantastic. Just a pity I can't play as well as this.
he has many recordings and he is about to record another album the first week of July. On CDBABY he has a couple of discs for purchase and you may find others on GSI or Itunes.
Geeore's little smile at the end says it all... "I nailed it. " P.S. I would be interested to hear/see all those nay sayers who complain about the brisk tempo and the stunning precision; calling the performance robotic and too fast. WE all would like them to post their performances so that we could not only compare tempos but performance quality as well as muse on phrasing, tone color et cetera. Criticism from the envious and ungifted has no weight or merit.
So if we take your view to its logical conclusion, if we cannot play as well as a particular artist, we should not provide a view on their interpretation? That's absurd. The tempo of this interpretation of the Chaconne is very fast indeed. He is clearly a gifted musician, but I don't think this interpretation does justice to the subtle harmonies and emotion of the Chaconne. That's something he didn't "nail".
let the music continue to live, each new interpretation makes it bigger. I also think that he gets carried away by technical bragging, losing the tempo of a chaconne; but it's still a great pleasure to hear another great version, not "the version" (I don't have to pass a performance to criticize it, I hope).
Not going to enter an argument here as there are always different interpretations of beautiful pieces. But in my humble opinion, there are more sympathetic interpretations of the Weiss Ciacona on her - eg see Gaelle Solal’s beautiful rendition which I think has a tempo and phrasing far more appropriate to the piece. But hey, the world would be a boring place if we all agreed.
I agree , GSI guitars are too expensive. To me, if you like to have a good guitar you can travel to Spain or the country where the guitar you really like is made. I 'm sure you can pay less than half price that you see at GSI. I will do so if I can to get my favorite guitar.
I do wish they were cheaper. But thats on me. I just commissioned a Simplicio replica for a good price for that reason. Just another goal to work towards is all it is.

Your very lucky very musical is my Greek compatriot, Weiss composed a stunner here
Hi George - it's been 40 years! Great to see you active and playing so well.
This is just wonderful. Really beautiful playing by Maestro George. Also I love the sound of the Stephen Hill guitar.
Very nice
thank you George Sakellariou, this is beautiful, technically perfect...and it touches me!
Thank you George,GSI, and Leopold.
Beautiful! I had the pleasure of meeting Stephen Hill some years ago. His instruments are gorgeous. I would love to own one. (as a left handed player)

Pops got the chops
Thank you for your excellent performance. May I know your instrument model?
...♥...
Awesome that he’s still rocking it, with great technique, but his tempo and dynamic control can be improved. Respectfully, of course.
He is a good player
What suite does this Chaconne belongs to? Sounds beautiful.
This is from Weiss' Duo Sonata in G Minor (WeissSw 14)
Anyone got the sheet music for this ?
Yes, but I'm keeping it to myself.
I assume this is the 1a guitar. I have the 2a made by Graham Emes whilst he was Stephen's apprentice. My guitar is also fantastic. Just a pity I can't play as well as this.
Are you still liking the 2a? I'm very, very tempted...
This is a Master model yes. Greetings from Spain !
Too fast for my taste but impecable technique.
Is there anywhere one could purchase a recording of this on CD or streaming from a service, such as itunes, google play, etc?
he has many recordings and he is about to record another album the first week of July. On CDBABY he has a couple of discs for purchase and you may find others on GSI or Itunes.
Really skilful performance but I like it bit slower . Maybe because I heard it first slower
can i get the tabs?
Why so fast?
And because it is more musical the way George hears it. And don't forget. George studied with Segovia. (and I studied with George)
@@TaiChiBeMe he studied with Segovia? So what? Does that automatically mean his interpretation is "correct"???
How can I buy notes?
after hearing David Ratelle's version, this one seems very robotic :/
I disagree. The ending on this performance is better
The ending of this is goated
C'te tueur
what scale is that guitar it look short. nice projection.
Look up Stephen Hill 2014 guitar and you will find out.
It’s a 650mm scale. Normal

poor weiss
guitar salon is overpriced

I hate to admit it but it’s true... I played a Dowina (made in Slovakia) and it costs a third of what my GSI guitar costed
I do wish they were cheaper. But thats on me. I just commissioned a Simplicio replica for a good price for that reason. Just another goal to work towards is all it is.
Too fast! 😕
No you are too slow
@@nickshryock7470 LMAO....hahahahaha thank you...and you are correct. Hah!
