I love hearing a Rolex customer’s surprise in finding out they can go into a shop and buy another brand watch…..immediately. So many choices out there and the Cartier experience is obviously one of the better ones.
I recently purchased a Santos Medium and am really enjoying it. It is so different from anything else in my collection and the experience at the Cartier Boutique was fantastic. Congratulations on your new Santos!
My father bought this marvellous watch on a whim in an airport in 1988. He says he’s worn it nearly everyday since and has never desired buying a different one. He will pass it down to when I become the age he was when he bought it.
You should consider getting him something nice as well, so when that coming of age moment arrives. You can both cross it and have a story to share afterwards. I’m sure it would be a pleasant surprise for him.
Great video!! Great choice!! The Santos holds its own against any watch in your collection and fits your TH-cam dress style perfectly. Looks great with the leather strap too.
@The Chap’s Guide: “The merry dance to own a Rolex” is such an excellent (and British) way to put it. I, too, recently had similar experience at my local Omega boutique.
There’s always a great story behind a great watch, and once again, you’ve accomplished this endeavor exceptionally. That really is a nice watch, Ash-enjoy it in health and prosperity!
Great video. I have an older Santos, the 29mm Carree. It fits my 6.5 inch wrist perfectly. I also bought a Cartier tank must in the Large which is really the medium. I bought this on the Bracelet and it has quick release as well. I look forward to seeing your other videos 😊
Great choice Ash. It’s a true classic. I was unaware of the quick change bands. Very cool feature. Wear it in good health, and please keep the wonderful videos coming.
Hi Ash, I love watching your videos. I am currently going through exactly the same experience as you have with Rolex. You made a great choice on the Cartier Santos, I was in the same store as you a few weeks ago and am now thinking seriously about the green dial large version. I think the watch and Cartier brand are just so different and refreshing and at the same time pure class.
Brilliant video. I was lucky to recieve the exact same watch as a present last Christmas. Agree with everything Ash said about this beautiful piece. I was a bit worried about scratching the bezel after reading people's reviews about it being a scratch magnet but I haven't had any problems so long as it is given a bit of respect and realise it is not a chunky tool watch. 8 years guarantee is unbelievable.😊
Congratulations on your purchase Ash. Lovely watch & Im sure it will bring you years of pleasure. Just need to pair it off with a nice pair of Santos sunglasses in time for summer!😁
I've been eyeing the Santos Medium for a few years now and if it had a date at 6 o'clock (like the larger model does), I might have already purchased it. However, until the day a "Medium Date" makes its way to the catalogue, I'll keep checking the ever increasing prices of vintage Santos Galbees and Carees, sighing and pondering. Excellent purchase, Ash! Wear it in good health.
I just bought a Cartier Santos Medium today, and I'm so happy to add this to my collection. Your video gave me the extra motivation to make this purchase. I really appreciate your insights on this watch, especially as I was getting a bit tired of chunky Rolex. Your reviews have truly refined my taste. Thank you! I purchased it at a nearby AD instead of BT and also received excellent service. It was a much better experience than buying a Rolex from a second-hand store.
Well done Ash - both Cartier Santos bros now 👍. A great piece and perfect for your style. It’s nice to not feel the pressure of chasing a few % off when you receive outstanding quality of service. This is luxury and although price is a factor, so is the experience. It’s the experience that endures.
Congratulations on your new watch. I love my Santos de Cartier. However, my Santos is the two tone model. It’s still basically silver but all the screws are gold.
You have good taste . I’m another watch guy that’s bored with oyster type sports watches . I’ve been eye balling the very watch you have but in Canada it’s going for around 10K . If my investments pay off I may very well buy one .
Congrats. Great watch and brand. After wear a couple neo-vintage and modern Rolexes for the last 10 years..I bought a Tank Louis this year and love it.
Very nice choice, Ash. That's a handsome watch indeed. Agree it's dressier than the Rolex, at least for my taste. Yet it's not limited from being a daily wearer. So this will be your EDC --"Every Day Cartier"!
Great watch and great decision. There is so much packed into this watch. So much history, style, and innovation. Je nais se quoi! No other house does it better than Cartier.
What are the dimensions please including the winder? Does your wife have the small rose gold on the tan croc strap? I’m trying to find the dims including the winder and not just the case. Thank you.
Welcome to Cartier, Santos is a great everyday watch from the brand and the white dial has such excellent legibility compared to the other colour dial offerings. Everyone talks about the bezel scratching and how it's a downside. I've learned to enjoy my bezel scratches which actually has a kind of "raining effect" when I move it left to right slowly. One thing they never tell you about is the plastic protector. The sides of the plastic protector can fray over time and stick out at just the perfect angle to scratch the sides of your Santos with complete ease. Even worse is the fact that these scratches will stand out as it goes against the brushing on the sides. Better to store the Santos in the travel pouch over the watch box if you are going to frequently wear it. Leave the plastic protector in your watch box and don't use it unless you are taking it back to service. If you register your watch on the Richemont Enquirus lost and stolen watch/jewllery database, the integrated bracelet has it's own serial numbers separate to the watch.
Congratulations on your new watch, it suits you well. It's also one of a few that I have on my radar, although in my case I'll be keeping my Explorer, as that to me has much the same value as your Datejust does to you.
Perfect choice Ash and a true Gentleman’s watch. You have in essence, the first Pilot’s watch. I sincerely hope you enjoy wearing your excellent choice.
Thank you for the video! Super interesting transition from the Rolex fascination to something that fits better your lifestyle. Well done! No regrets, money isn’t lost, the journey was worth it, but time for new horizons…👍
Beautiful choice! Honestly I never considered adding a Cartier to my collection because all I knew of them was the tank watch, which I always found to be too dainty. You put me on to the Santos model and now it’s on my wish list for the dress category. I’ll be getting the large version though because with my work a date function is a non-negotiable. Thanks for the tips
That is absolutely gorgeous! That was a wise choice sir. The leather strap makes it look completely different. The Cartier makes the Rolex look agricultural by comparison and what a lovely buying experience that you enjoyed. I wish you the health and wealth to enjoy wearing on all sorts of occasions.
That’s lovely - congratulations Ash! Interesting how many watch reviewers have recently turned away from Rolex and moved toward Cartier, and smaller dressier watches, as well as smaller format tool watches.
Ash, I love the jacket and tie. Nice video on the Santos. It gives me another idea for a grail watch. Like you I have looked at the Reverso for a while though have never actually tried one, so this gives me another option to look at.
I just made the same move and purchased a Cartier Santos Dual Time. While I still enjoy my Rolex watches, there is a style and elegance which drew me to this watch and has piqued my interest in other Cartier models. The buying experience was exactly as you described as well. When I first saw this video, I remember being somewhat disappointed in your turning away from Rolex. I have no intention of selling any of mine, and will certainly continue as a Rolex customer, I do appreciate you helping to show me the way to Cartier as well. It was a delayed reaction, but a most satisfying result. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for posting this. It helps me really understand my position as a budget Chap... a "Cheap." I am saving up for a suit that will cost 10% of this lovely watch -- and I'm going to love that suit!
What you said about accuracy (metas, chronometer etc) was spot on. I don't really understand the obsession with accuracy. My G shock loses about a second a month, but any mechanical watches I've had were much more inaccurate. Did that make any difference to the enjoyment? Of course not.... just correct the time once a week. It only takes a minute. And off you go
I purchased the Pasha back in 2002. Love it. Many dislike (or hate) that model, but i think it's so unique and interesting as well. But, your Santos screams classic, majestic watch making at its best, in my opinion. Just beautiful with a great story behind the model. Nice pickup, Ash. Thanks, KP from NC
Horological avenues, I have been down a few of these. I love the Reverso but felt the same as you on the wrist. Congratulations, wear it in good health.
Thanks for the review my man , I never knew you got the extra strap ( nice option) . I also wanted a Rolex for a while now but I refuse to play the game of the AD’s , the way you purchased your watch is the way customer service should be done.
Good afternoon Ash, I've been looking forward to this. I'm so glad that you went for the white dial, those blued hands work so well and catch the light superbly. I realise that you were looking at blue as well as green dials but this is the pinnacle for me. I did spend a little too long browsing in Cartier on New Bond Street just after you bought this but thankfully (or maybe not!) I need to buy a car in the near future. Congratulations and have many happy years with your new acquisition, Kind regards, Rob
Welcome to the club, Ash! 👍 I went for the WSSA0037, because I’ve seen worn watches with this mirror polished bezel. And I didn’t like what I’ve seen regarding the scratches. Did you have a look on the Santos Dumont as well? It’s not as robust but way more elegant. Best regards, Claus
Fantastic watch. Have to agree with your assesment Vs the reverso. The Santos is one of the most comfortable and versitile watches ive ever tried on. I adore the reverso but its very much a dress watch so youve found a happy medium with the santos
As much as it saddens me that we will no longer see the Explorer on the channel again, its my favourite watch of all time and it is the watch i'm currently saving up for right now (about 3/4th there), but Cartier is very close to my heart too as i'm the owner (for about 10 years now) of a Cartier - Must de cartier 23mm that used to belong to my Nan, it was slow to gel with I think I wore it 3 times in 4 years but I eventually got a Dark Green Alligator Strap for it, it pretty much became my every day wear for about 5 years and even now at least once a week. I loved how it looked and how it mad me feel. A great watch brand, welcome to the club ;)
I was in the same position oy you, I was dreaming for a explorer 36mm then I bought a Cartier santos medium. I still want a explorer, don’t do the same mistake I did, buy explorer first, then if you still want you can always buy the cartier, my humble opinion. Best regards
Stange coincidence, I was looking at the same watch in a window today and then saw your great video. Then you talk about changing the strap to the free leather one making it really versatile. Might be going back to that store soon?
I love hearing a Rolex customer’s surprise in finding out they can go into a shop and buy another brand watch…..immediately. So many choices out there and the Cartier experience is obviously one of the better ones.
Nice purchase, I think you made the right move.
He will pass it down to when I become the age he was when he bought it.
certainly not the average joe xD casually dropping a few grand on a whim in an airport
You should consider getting him something nice as well, so when that coming of age moment arrives. You can both cross it and have a story to share afterwards. I’m sure it would be a pleasant surprise for him.
@@comedyman112A bit jealous of other’s success?
@@whereRbearsTeeth yes, quite badly.
Now that... is a Chap's watch!
Absolutely.
Dear Ash, impeccable video as always. You have utmost taste.
The review was simply fantastic.
Cheers.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Ash, your suites as of late have been splendid! You portray a classic gentleman who knows how to embellish in a subtle manner.
Glad you like them!
Would that be a bathroom suite or a three piece suite, like a sofa and 2 armchairs
Congratulations on a great choice in watches!!!!!
A watch to wear and enjoy. The customer experience proves that Cartier respect their customers, unlike other companies.
Your ensemble is perfect for you, the Santos is a timely purchase. Seconds to none.😋 . Proof that a chap needs both a Cartier and a couturier.
Wao you wear it so elegant 👌🏽, it suits your suits. Congrats on your new acquisition.
Great video!! Great choice!! The Santos holds its own against any watch in your collection and fits your TH-cam dress style perfectly. Looks great with the leather strap too.
Love the shirt. Great subtle pattern, classic and classy. Pairs fantastic with your coat and tie, and the collar is absolutely perfect.
Love your set up. The red box, contrasted with those lush green woods and bluebells.. beautiful. So nice to see the warm weather return
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just a lovely watch! I'm sitting here smiling for you feeling your joy. Instant subscribe.
Thank you kindly!
Great choice. I love my medium Santos.
@The Chap’s Guide: “The merry dance to own a Rolex” is such an excellent (and British) way to put it. I, too, recently had similar experience at my local Omega boutique.
Congratulations. Cartier is pure class
There’s always a great story behind a great watch, and once again, you’ve accomplished this endeavor exceptionally. That really is a nice watch, Ash-enjoy it in health and prosperity!
A great video and an excellent purchase, if I'd not bought my Reverso last year, I would have gone for this exact santos. I love its simplicity.
This has got to be the most pleasant background I’ve ever seen on YT.
It is a nice and unique Cartier watch. It suits you very much. Glad you went for another brand of watch. Congratulations !!
Great video. I have an older Santos, the 29mm Carree. It fits my 6.5 inch wrist perfectly. I also bought a Cartier tank must in the Large which is really the medium. I bought this on the Bracelet and it has quick release as well. I look forward to seeing your other videos 😊
I can agree with the branding. I had a great experience purchasing my Cartier santos large. No bs, No hassle. Congratulations.
Congratulations on your new watch. It looks amazing! Enjoy in good health. 🎉
Congratulations, that’s a beautiful piece. It’s in my wish list and hoping to get one by year’s end. Cheers!
Great choice Ash. It’s a true classic. I was unaware of the quick change bands. Very cool feature. Wear it in good health, and please keep the wonderful videos coming.
Very classy watch Ash, looks perfect on your wrist and very versatile with the different strap options.
Real happy for ya, Ash. Can't wait for the update on how you feel about the watch later. Cheers!

Congrats on the purchase. Cartier is not only known for their design but they really are a great movement maker. That is an absolutely amazing watch.
i wish they had an open back for the santos
