My wife and I were there last month, and our Uber driver took us right down this street to get to the hotel. We were horrified. But over the course of our stay, it became part of our Vancouver experience. A government official who happened to be sitting next to us at the Rolling Stones show told us there are several factors leading to how East Hasting came to be like this. One was the closure of a mental facility where so many of these people belong. Another is the moderate climate. We found that these people are not dangerous and just keep to themselves. They don't ask passersby for money. Fentanyl mixed with horse tranquilizer is their high of choice. It's a sad situation with no solutions. Most of these people are not homeless. They have places to stay. Some make a little money off things they steal/find and then sell on the street. The street looks normal early in the morning, with all the trash picked up and before those people populate the sidewalk.
Most of these homeless are people damaged by the mental health industry. Drugged when they were youths with pseudoscience then added street drugs, they have no hope to get better.

The same demon in Philly Kensington is here no different My Question why have the Authority haven't come in and shut this down what happen to the law. It just going to get worse 😊
I’m tired of people calling this homelessness. This is a drug problem. A completely different issue than homelessness. I’m not saying that homeless people are not living on the streets, but the drug problem far exceeds that in these areas. People on the street with drug problems have completely lost their own self respect and the respect of people and community. Yes they have a problem that they cannot fix alone, but they also have adopted a form of entitlement due the relaxed laws and relief of responsibility leading to their own conclusion of why bother to cleanup? Literally. They can’t be housed because they are reckless, will not respect the environment given to them and won’t accept treatment. Discipline needs to be structured into an enforced secure housing system with treatment and then graduating to lessons on life skills, or stay locked up in a centre if they don’t want those opportunities. They’ll be healthier and safer in a ward than where they are now.
This is actually a nice day for east hastings. take a video at 8pm after the welfare checks come in and it makes Night City look like goddamn Disney World.
Legalizing dangerous drugs is tantamount to human distraction And lead also to the downfall of a community or a country. Why a Canadian government can't afford to find ways and means to settle this issues.? Canadian government should provide shelter and give them decent house to live in. Give them work for them to survive.

Where do they go to use the toilet?
There are public washrooms at Main/Hastings and Cambie/Hastings plus many more along the street provided by such as injection sites/food charity organizations But alleys are still the main sites.
Please god, take our syfferng, let us live in your light and be united. Let no child feel hunger, fear for their saftey, or feel saddness for their parents trying to do their best, please bless our all our families with health, saftey and abundance. Amen.
That’s worse than in San Francisco Deymmm ….
When I was visiting Vancouver I tried really hard to find this infamous street.
Showing just one Vancouver street doesn't mean that entire Canada looks like this.
Doesn't make sense
Ohhhh that's so shocking to see 🙈
Canada is in a bad way not to far behind Keniston Philly
What a wonderful paradise !
These zombies are already on West Hastings and moving closer every day to Coal Harbour....
I assume this is a part of the city tourists don't get to see?
One of the best country in the world.
For the dumbs.
Arguing over a quarter :(
They are not talking money...
Troll
Poverty much poverty, poor people in the street. From CHILE.😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😢😢😢😢😢😢
Where they stay during winter?
Most of the people seem to be high on toxic substances. So obviously does not matter where body waste is going. Terrible situation.
i wish there was a map where you traced out the streets you were on
The same demon in Philly Kensington is here no different
My Question why have the Authority haven't come in and shut this down what happen to the law.
It just going to get worse 😊
It may be happens this in Canada because many people in different country
Hi, where these ppl go when winter or stay ,thnx
Jamaica land we love!
But it's not that bad compared to other cities around the world.
I do not think there is still such a life in Canada.
But How they maintain their food !!!!
Seperti kota philadelphia di usa
Buti pa angpilipinas
Sa atin may pabahay ang gobyerno
This is actually a nice day for east hastings. take a video at 8pm after the welfare checks come in and it makes Night City look like goddamn Disney World.
Legalizing dangerous drugs is tantamount to human distraction And lead also to the downfall of a community or a country. Why a Canadian government can't afford to find ways and means to settle this issues.? Canadian government should provide shelter and give them decent house to live in. Give them work for them to survive.
Same here in south Africa 🇿🇦,what precisely is going on in the world.
Is this street life in USA's San Francisco ???
NO ! This is street life in Vancouver ! WHAT ??? in CANADA , unbelievable 。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。😢😢😢😢😢😢
For me it is not surprise. This pseudo country is not even completely independent from Great Britain and as you might know, Great Britain can not invade and plunder other countries like they did in the past. I think the party is over for these two.
Oh my God I thought, you can only find this kind of scenery in the third world country - like in the Philippines, I'm shocked upon seeing this embarrassing situation country like Canada and U.S.A.
I ever said with you dont go to canada.. right now in canada many homeless 😅
Same like in US Philadelphia
This country is so big and homes are ver expensive 😢
Every country no perfect, all country have short coming , no meaning one country is perfect from another country .👏
