  • A tiled wall offers many advantages. From installing simple borders to covering half or even the whole wall, maintenance is easy and design possibilities are unlimited. Here, wall tiles are installed in a bathroom.
Before you start, make sure the wall is covered with moisture-resistant gypsum board and that the surface is smooth and flat. If you're tiling over a painted wall, lightly sand the surface first.
To purchase wall tiles, calculate the surface area to cover and add a percentage to allow for breakages and spares. Add 5% for tiles laid out in straight lines and 10 to15% for a diagonal layout.
    Tools and materials you'll need:
    • Bucket
    • Caulking gun
    • Ceramic wall tiles
    • Chalk line
    • Grout
    • Grout float
    • Grout sealer
    • Hammer
    • Knee pads
    • Level
    • Masking tape
    • Measuring tape
    • Notched trowel
    • Pencil
    • Plastic tile spacers
    • Protective sheet
    • Pull bar

    • Sanding paper
    • Silicone sealer
    • Sponge

Im using ceramic tile this weekend for partial wall and floor where my bathtub is going. I placed 3/4 inch plywood for the flooe and i have mold free drywall for the wall. The mortar is ultraflex 2 which is good for plywood but isbit ok to use with the drywall surface wall? Im trying this for the first time and any help would be appreciated. Thx

Good video, however the glue used in this video is not meant to put a floor tile on your wall according to Mapei reps. It is highly recommended to use a sticky mortar that you mix yourself like the Rona xpert or Ker121 to add a floor tile to your wall. The premixed tile adhesive will not dry as fast as mortar and could cause you tiles to fall before it dries. the grout demonstration could be better and no one waits 10 days to silicone expansion joints.

I can use some info im using 4x4 ceramic tiles and the wall behind the bowl is 3 feed, but 8 tile with 1/8 spacing i'm short 1-1/8'' from the other side of the wall. It would had been nice to center the tiles, but again I would leave 1/2 and 1/16 short on both sides, so what can I do? Thanks Lou
