Not that I would wear leggings but if I wanted to wear them I darn well would. I am not into worrying what other people think is ‘the right things’ to wear. If I feel ok then that is fine. I’m 82 and independent in mind. I did have so much fun in the hippie era!
I'm with you - I'm only 79, but I've, since I stopped work, and lost the 'supervisors' imposing a dress code, worn what I like. Just as well I couldn't hope to look fashionable, with no teeth, no hair and swollen ankles and not Helen Mirren's bone structure! Still, if you are still dependent on the approval of others, I guess this might make you feel better.?
Approval from others via compliments can make you feel good ( most people like compliments, I think) but hopefully the approval isn’t the be all and end all of your clothing choices.
Older women with a short story and right leggings tend to make them look like they gave chicken legs. I think you should wear what your comfortable but personally I think the friend of mine would look better wa longer shirt
Great video and wardrobe tips for us older gals. Being 5'8 and 68 yrs old, I still enjoy wearing leggings, pairing them with tunic or longer length tops. As long as my back end and my front tummy & upper leg areas are covered, its a great look and can be rocked, no matter your age. The high boots and even the low ankle boots are both great options for leggings as well (as you have shown). Just because we are over 50, doesn't mean we are ready for the nursing home, sitting and wearing a blanket on our lap.
I'm 71 and live in leggings! I do wear tunics, sweaters and tops that cover my butt and upper thighs. Honestly, I dress for comfort rather than style but your suggestions are lovely.
I’m retired and love wearing leggings, long tops or tunics over them. I wear them with chunky boots, and usually a scarf. After working in an office and wearing formal wear, it’s great to be able to wear COLOURS!!! I have boots in every colour and only wear dark leggings. I am horrified when I see youngsters in really thin, really too tight leggings in light colours that shows absolutely everything. It’s not a good look at any age.
I have recently been following your channel as I have very little clothing. I hate shopping, I don’t know what to wear, and I don’t know what looks good. I particularly like this video because I have a very long torso and most shirts right up on me so incorporating a tunic with leggings works well for my body type. I’m glad you put links to products in your videos. I’m 58 with nine grandchildren and it’s time for me to step up my game. Thank you for helping me do just that.
Study the elements and principles of design and determine your body shape/height. A key principle is proportion. Any beautiful item can look like a sac if it's out of proportion for you. Stick with classics as presented in the video... classic styles, classic colors. Once in awhile, buy "that amazing" dress, etc. on the mannequin as long as it enhances your body shape and proportioned to your height. But, don't buy too much. Our brains go bonkers when there are too many decisions to make and too many clothes for which we must care for.
I wear clothes for comfort so I wear the length I prefer for tops, which happens to be not long, as I am only 5ft tall. I don't want to feel like I'm wearing a dress over them. It's no one else's business what other people wear, so people should do whatever they prefer for themselves, not whatever they think other people should / would like to see on them. I hate to be told that I should / shouldn't do or wear certain things.
Thank you! Finally some realistic fashion sense from another 5’2” petite woman over 50! Also your choices look simple, affordable, and are for everyday looks instead of special occasions and events. Keep ‘em coming!
I will wear leggings the rest of my life. Loving the different designs like herringbone, the colors I prefer are the darker ones, black, brown, navy, cranberry, dark gray. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I love the outfits you put together! Clean, simple style for over 50 people - so refreshing. I've been struggling to figure out how to dress comfortably without looking frumpy, and stylishly without looking like I'm trying to disguise my age. I have no desire to do that - I want to look my best, but I also want to look like myself, age and all.
Thanks for this video Anne Marie. Loved all the outfits, especially the tan boots with sweater vest over shirt and cape at the start. So chic but casual at the same time! 👍😊
I am very old fashioned; I only wear leggings as I would wear pantyhose: under a dress and my dresses are never above my knees! For me they keep me warm in place of going bare legged. Happy New Year! Hope 2023 is the best yet for you and your family 🕊☀️🐾🍸🎈
Thank you for posting this. The leggings I bought have been hanging unworn in my wardrobe because I always wear skirts, usually mid-calf or below, to distract from the horrible scarring and marks just above my left ankle - and to help disguise my weight a bit... I've thought about wearing the leggings under my longer skirts but didn't have the confidence to try it, but I feel more comfortable giving it a try now.
I now wear them under long skirts and modest dresses in place of a slip. Have been wearing leggings since DANSKIN were the only brand commercially available and able to be purchased only at a dance shop. In addition I like ANTHONY RICHARDS and LAND'S END brand leggings. Practically indestructible
💟 Enjoyed watching this because it matches my own personal aesthetic on wearing longer tops with leggings. This style looks so much more sophisticated & comfortable! I liked all of your outfits... I'm a mature woman, older than yourself. I look forward to wearing my leggings this winter! Thank you...have a Happy, Healthy & Peaceful New Year!!! 💟💜💟
I love it, Annemarie! I agree about the dark solid colors for leggings - it's most slimming. I saw someone my age wearing plaid print leggings two days ago - it just made her legs look larger.
I worked in retail when it was "any print goes" for leggings. . Floral, pineapples, cats!🙄 It just looked like you were trying to wallpaper your bum. Classic is always better.
Oh my goodness. Your style is what I have been loooking for. Many of this is in my closet. Now, I can feel more confident puttinh it together. Thank you.
Hi! I am so glad I found you! You are an enjoyable personality to watch, not pretentious or condescending but personable and makes me feel like I'm talking with a friend! Thank you for doing these videos! Robinette
Fun fact: Leggings are not pants. They were never meant to be. It's in the name: LEGgings. They're just heavier tights. Therefore, one's butt is supposed to be covered, whatever age you are. And these looks are great on you!
And pants, no matter how tailored, were not made to be worn by women and certainly not to an office! /s Thank goodness times change and only a few uptight folks are insisting on attempting to tell women how to dress these days. If you don't want to wear leggings, then don't wear them. If you can't stand that other women wear leggings, DON'T LOOK.
I am 58 years old, and I find leggings to be so very comfortable. I’m 5’7”, and wear a size 6. I am on the thin side, but even if I wasn’t I believe that when we wear what makes us feel good, is the best look for all of us. Age is just a number, but the gift of growing older is no longer caring so much about what anyone thinks of our clothing choices. Just who are women trying to compare themselves to, and why? Happiness, and joy do not come from conforming to the opinion of what others think. Just be you, do and wear what brings you comfort, and happiness.
@@janefuller1737 Well said, I wear what I like and do not care what people think. I really don't think they think anything anyway. Just smile and be pleasant, does the trick everytime for me.

Really liked the leggins, shirt & sweater combo on you w/ the tan boots! Also liked the biker boots w/ the long hoodie sweatshirt. Thanks for showing us some cool 😎 ways to wear leggins!
Thank you so very much for this! Great tips for us to use. I love the comfort of leggings, but, being 72 years old, I have never felt good about wearing them out anywhere. With this, I can rock the look without looking like I'm trying to go back to the 60's.......lol Again, thank you so much and for all you do. remember to BREATHE.......
You look smashing darling. Thanks for the video! I still struggle with about 20# from the pandemic. And I look to lose at least 10 of those pounds this year. Leggings are the way to go, to be comfy and stylish.
thanks for these ideas. i am nearly 70 and still wear leggings. i love them. they are comfy and always wear them in winter especially. only wearing dresses and skirts in the warmer months again.. i love these with a tunic dress. i think that look is really nice. i don't care what others think. it's how i feel in my clothes that matters. love your videos. i have subscribed for more fashion know hows. you look lovely in anything by the way. 😊
I haven't reached 50 yet, but I think this is such a good video to watch. Reasonable and chic fashion advice, imo even for younger people. And you're hilarious. I LOLed and loved all those bits you add in the video (the comments, the photos, etc). I'm subbing :)
Hello! I just watched your video and loved it! New to your channel. My parents are from England, I lived in England for a few years, and have lots and lots of family in the UK. Looking forward to watching your videos! Cheers!
Not only Over 50s! These are great styles for earlier years too, simple, elegant and some classic looks and lines. You’ve got a great eye for line, form and shape. And a bit more class than just swallowing trend. So glad to stumble across this channel.
Great looks and ideas and soooo cute on you! Just subscribed . I enjoyed your commentary. Enough ideas/thoughts without being too, too chatty chatty which makes some videos too long to view. Thank you, thank you!
My personal rule of thumb is that a top must cover my entire rear plus a few inches when I raise my arms over my head. The longer length can be dressed up - a mini dress (one that skims the body and indicates a waist without clinging to bulges) can look fantastic with nice leggings and ankle or knee boots. Also, leather-look and velour can be great options in winter, especially with a sweater dress or crepe shift that is too short to wear as a dress. Modest and edgy or cozy or classy.
I'm so glad you mentioned that you are only 5'2". I always assumed that petite women can't wear long cardigans, but yours looks gorgeous. I am only 4'11" and have always shied away from them; but i'm going to give one another try. Thanks for sharing a fun video. I liked and subscribed. :)
Ooh I love these looks! I'm making a folder of your leggings videos and am about to hunt to see if you've done a "what the hell do you do with a scarf?" one. Unlike a lot of over-50 fashion channels, what I love about yours is that it gives gentle advice on how to update the clothes I have, that I love and am comfortable in. It makes me feel positive and good about myself. So often you just see, "don't wear this... don't wear that..." and I turn off feeling like a discarded elderly lizard woman! Your channel is nothing like that. Thank you :)

Lol! I am with you! I definitely am covering my rear and my front! Leggings are difficult for petite heights (5'4" and shorter). I'm 5'5" so petites are not always doable so I usually have to hem. Thank you so much for sharing!
I'm 65, 5'10" and my legs look like sticks in leggings so paying attention to where a top hits the best part of my leg is key. If it's too short my front and back show, which I hate, if it's too long my legs look like pins. You are so right about the quality and thickness of a legging as well. Great tips, thanks so much.
I have just discovered your channel - brilliant! I love the tunic-look with a crisp white shirt. Yours is perfect! Where did you get this one? I've tried a million kinds - and they are never long enough to peak out from the bottom of a tunic like you have, nor are the arms long enough (I do not have terribly long arms either!). Please share the brand!
A few years ago when the trend was massively 'oversized', I went into Primark during the sale to find loads of 'oversized' jumpers and they were all sized xs so nobody was buying them. Not me, I picked up 8 in various colours for £5 each because they fit me just right as jumper dresses, I just don't understand why people want to look like a sack of spuds but they did me a favour!
I am going back to work in the mall after years, my rent got raised 400 dollars each month, thanks for all your tips, I will wear the outfits the way you have shown them, I love them and thank you
I just found your channel. I am 50 and trying to style myself well without looking too old or young 😅. I was reading the video and decided to click and listen. I said to myself I bet she has a British accent. I was right 😂. I love listening to you and you give some good thoughts on leggings. New subscriber here!
I'm 52 and love wearing leggings out of the sheer comfort. (If not wearing leggings, I put on a dress.) Loved the suggestions on how to wear leggings classy and got me some new inspiration. Thanks for making these videos!
Thanks for this! I am in my late 70's and love wearing leggings. A good pair is so comfortable and I prefer them to wearing jeans for a more chic and stylish look. You look so cute especially in the "Hello" sweatshirt and leggings!
M&S thermal leggings are amazing! They are so warm without being too chunky. Lovely and sort to wear! They wash great. They look great with a longer length jumper or long blouse. Definitely black or navy!
I bought a couple of shirt extenders from amazon and I love the look with a sweatshirt or similar. I also got some fleece lined yoga pants from amazon which are so cozy this winter. I call this look my uniform because I wear it almost daily. lol
I am 63 and I mostly wear leggings in the winter. I love the style tips in this video. I like to wear nice little tunic dresses with leggings and nice knee length boots. I have bought quite a few different colours of leggings but not the cheap ones as the don't fit well.

Great video thanks 😊
You are exactly right!! 😍
The hat I believe would be called a Fedora. Great video! Thank you ☺️ greetings from Australia 🇦🇺🐨🦘
Very sensible comments!
Love leggings covering up with long vest then sweater on or long sleeve teeshirts
Thank you Joanna. Happy Sunday
Thanks for this! I am in my late 70's and love wearing leggings. A good pair is so comfortable and I prefer them to wearing jeans for a more chic and stylish look. You look so cute especially in the "Hello" sweatshirt and leggings!
Some great ideas!. I'd love to see you wear some of your colours from your recent colour analysis palette.
Will do!!
I really like the first poncho sweater! I tried goggling it but cant find anything similar. Can you share where you purchased yours?
Try here USA poncho amzn.to/3CvB9xc and here UK poncho amzn.to/3IsZW8Q
M&S thermal leggings are amazing! They are so warm without being too chunky. Lovely and sort to wear! They wash great. They look great with a longer length jumper or long blouse. Definitely black or navy!
Love this! ❤️
5’1” and 61, so great tips for me. Thanks
Love the look with the long black cardiga and the one with the vest with the long shirt.
Very nice ! I like it !!!!
Happy new year
That was excellent advice🇨🇦
I bought a couple of shirt extenders from amazon and I love the look with a sweatshirt or similar. I also got some fleece lined yoga pants from amazon which are so cozy this winter. I call this look my uniform because I wear it almost daily. lol
Where did you get the sweater with the black stripes around the bottom? I love it!

The black hat is called a fedora Thanks for all these great ideas!
Thank you!,,
Great 💡
You look so stylish and currant and so cute!!
Modesty is classy
I am 63 and I mostly wear leggings in the winter. I love the style tips in this video. I like to wear nice little tunic dresses with leggings and nice knee length boots. I have bought quite a few different colours of leggings but not the cheap ones as the don't fit well.
