Some tips to make your LV grind less of a brute force approach: - You have to make red/blue steel for your first machine hulls (then once you have an assembler you can make hulls with plain steel) and a metal bucket for moving lava around - Look into different approaches to generating SU as 100's of water wheels will lag out your world when you start to expand your contraptions to run at max RPM - Create mod has more powerful automation than steam and LV in some areas such as ore processing (crushing wheel faster than multiblock grinder, 4x bulk blasters faster than multiblock oven), stress units are a constant source of renewable energy - You don't have to move south for paper if you start a greenhouse or bedrock farm (temperature stays warm constantly at Y:-60). Greenhouses are a WIP but they let you grow anything without spoiling till harvest. - Look into genetics in beehives, crop affinity will speed up all your plants by handling all your fertiliser requirements - Find pineapple bushes or grind animal sizes for better drops using the butcher knife (look into tfc grooming station), leather is needed for alot of recipes before LV - Grow wheat, grind into flower and ferment it into aged whiskey, this will give you haste 2 buff for mining ore ALOT faster I'd hate to see you abandon your base so I hope these tips give you some confidence to push forward. Great series
Even when you have the ability to make lv casings out of regular steel, i recommend still using colored steel til you get an ebf set up to save on steel since it'll be very slow
Lots of great tips here. 2 create steam boilers (2x2) was plenty of SU to get me through LV and MV in terms of ore processing, smelting, rolling machine, first circuits. Never had to upgrade it. Took me about 1 year in game to get maxed crop affinity bees, the earlier you start the better.
(Typing this before finishing the video) Oh, and another tip: get an lv mixer to mix colored steel dusts without needing to process them, then you can melt the dusts in the crucible
Traditionally, a lot of local landmarks end up being named after whatever the local name for the thing is. Like the "Sahara Desert", "sahara" just means "desert" in Arabic. Lots of things are named "River River" or "Hill Hill" Maybe "Blank" is the Arnian word for "River"
So, fun fact: Apparently, garlic has an agent that's not digested by the body, and instead gets expelled through sweat, so if you eat too much it can overwhelm your scent glands, and in turn, make you smell of garlic, so it would seem that our guy Hecuba here canonically reeks of garlic everywhere he goes.
I gotta admit, my first thought on seeing the big ol' castle they're building in New Hecuba was "Looks ripe for undermining to me. Use the ol' mining supports as a weapon." Love the series, so much.
Some tips for anyone else who wants to play this modpack: - Invest in bees! You only need wood and thatch for them and beeswax is very useful for candles (MUCH longer lasting light source), a kayak, which is a boat you can pick up like vanilla boats, and other things. I know we all have ptsd from forestry's bees but these are so much easier. They all give all your crops a ton of nutrients! - A forge hammer is the ideal first steam machine because it can make cheaper plates (until you make a mechanical press) - You can automate wrought iron via nuggets in steam age. Don't make a second bloomery - You can use create to pump fluids out of a crucible/blast furnace into a mold table, which forgets the temperature info so they cool instantly. A chute below the mold table will take out all the cold ingots
Terrafrimagreg: the series that makes autistic Monkey brain go Monkey Hooka! And no joke these videos scratch that itch for achieving through complication
For anyone who is curious: canoes (at least this is true with the tribes in Alabama and Mississippi) were typically made from deciduous hardwood like oak or pine. So the Native Americans would burn a part of it out and dig out the ash before repeating the process until they had a canoe
A few more tips - You can place a drum under the blast furnace (replace the crucible), this can be pumped out with a create pump into ingot molds that instantly cool - make a 4x4 kaolin clay area for glass panes. Grind the panes and make glass dust. Much cheaper vacuum tube bulbs
It's been awhile since I last played this modpack. I'm at the point where I have to travel something like 7000 blocks to get kaolin clay, but winter has also just started for me, and I can't really find the materials to make a kayak (I can't remember if I have the materials to make a regular boat, but if I do, then I probably figured it wasn't worth the hassle). I also started school since then, and I don't want to get too invested in the modpack (as I've observed myself to do with these packs), so I have been trying to focus on that for the most part. It's great to see you're still playing though. You got me into this pack, and you always help me get to the next step in the game. I FW you, Cuba

The hazardous ores are able to be circumvented by a gas mask and filter, but I have no idea when you obtain the stuff for that, and while I'm uncertain it would work as I've only lightly looked into them, you could look into greenhouses to grow papyrus without the proper climate

Another thing about resin is that once you get the LV Centrifuge, you can centrifuge kapok logs straight up for resin and it will also give you methane and other byproducts. -Once you get the assembler it will change your life. You can make cheap resistors with glue (which you can get by centrifuging resin) and its VERY cheap because you wont need paper as you will substituting the paper for glue. -You might already know this one since you are familiar with gregtech but, if you use the ore washer and wash raw tin you can get loads of iron dust as a byproduct. -Instead of using dust in the blast furnace, you can just cook cast iron ingots for a 1:1 ratio of steel. -You can use the liquid solidifier to make cheap glass by crushing sand with a mortar and pestle into quartz sand which can be used to melt into glass and then solidify the glass into the glass bulbs thereby skipping the glassmaking prcess entirely Theres probably more but I can't think of any more atm. I hope you get well soon Hecuba!!!
The appearance of natives could bring an interesting point in the series as you have to manage your colonies for them not to be taken over by natives. Love you vids !

Also, There’s a glitch where if you have either a pumpkin block or a melon block, I think it’s pumpkin but fact check me on that, even if the block version goes bad, you can use a knife to cut it and give you the chunks which will have the expiration date reset, same thing words with grains, but I think you have to grind the up in a mill. as a recording/editing tip. OBS has a setting somewhere (you would need to google that tho, I just know it exists and can't give detailed intructions) that lets you record all the audio tracks separately. It will still create only 1 video file (maybe slightly larger), but after importing the video to editing software like Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, the video itself should contain multiple audio tracks that can be simply turned off. Its also good for separating discord/youtube audio from gameplay :) and accidental overlays of same audio type won't destroy minutes or hours of footage.
HECUBAAAA!!! I'm so glad I get to see more of this series. When I made it to Mv I was super demoralized (what with all the ethylene & polyethylene) so I'm thankful to receive that vicarious excitement Also, Salad bowls are the best food source for upping your health situation. Fruits like pumpkin with 0.8 for some reason reduce your health on average, however with 5 in a salad bowl it provides a positive bonus
I found that using a high-pressure liquid boiler to burn off the abundant supply of creosote from the coke oven works very well for making large volumes of steam. Also, you can use Create chutes with the storage crates to automate the coke oven as the crates can hold entire logs in them. Good video!

true but I'm making a story, revenge never works and only makes things worse
@@Hecuba39 I understand; my comment is just a light-hearted observation. I love the storytelling so far. Keep it up!
as a recording/editing tip.
When I made it to Mv I was super demoralized (what with all the ethylene & polyethylene) so I'm thankful to receive that vicarious excitement
Also, Salad bowls are the best food source for upping your health situation. Fruits like pumpkin with 0.8 for some reason reduce your health on average, however with 5 in a salad bowl it provides a positive bonus
Don't stop doing these videos man, they're amazing
love these videos so much. first modded series I have ever watched
Huge video, honestly i love this series
Hell yeah just what I needed at 1am keep up the good work
It's always a good day when another Hecuba video drops
ive been needing this. welcome back!
Definitely like these longer videos, can't wait for the next one
I've been waiting impatiently for this to come out!
I found that using a high-pressure liquid boiler to burn off the abundant supply of creosote from the coke oven works very well for making large volumes of steam. Also, you can use Create chutes with the storage crates to automate the coke oven as the crates can hold entire logs in them. Good video!
Great video, and I'm glad to see you're back and feeling better!
I swear, that thumbnail may as well have been Hecuba pulling me into the video the moment I saw it.
My absolute favorite series at the moment, so happy to see a new episode and am looking forwards to the next already~!
Guess I'm watching this now instead of going to bed. Dang you Hecuba for being so addicting to watch
Every episode is another banger
