Ahh the analog synths we should have kept. I never stopped regreting selling my 100% perfect jupiter 8 and the synch box that came with it for only 1500 maybe 1300 i cant remember now.
Some years ago i almost got this expander but waited as i was hoping there would be a keyboard version and then the Poly-D was announced. So i opted for this instead. I still kinda wanna get one of the expanders though because i do like the smaller travel size and the sound is still massive. I'd rather get one of these than selling a kidney and my firstborn just to be able to afford an actual Mini from Moog themself. Yes, it is small but still bigger than Roland's Boutique version ;)
So far I'm pretty happy with it! I love what I've heard from the Poly D. I might have went for that one instead but there were none in stock in Canada. Buying Behringer gear here isn't super easy for some reason.
hey can you tell me if these perform better with a TRS cable over a TS? the manual contradicts itself, and people say these have a TRS jack. and I assume you use the HIGH output? i like the quality of your recording. I ordered one of these from longe and mcquade for 319 + tax 360. not bad for new.
Nice! I should have got a new one. The prices just came down. When I bought mine 2 months ago at L&M the new ones were over 400 still. The used one I bought was $280 but has tuning issues. I'm using a TS cable from the High Output but running it to a line amp.
Sounds great! Don’t know if it’s just my early morning ears, but I’m being reminded of my Matriarch which I’ve used a ton of in my music. Would you say there’s a similarity? (Or do you have experience with the Matriarch)
I've never played a Matriarch but I'm pretty sure it's based on Moog Modular circuitry which the Minimoog is as well. The Behringer definitely sounds like a Moog but the oscillators are much more lively on a real Minimoog. On the Behringer the detune is much more dull sounding.
@@aloraliquid The one I have has tuning issues (drifts out of tune after a few hours) and I've heard others do as well. I bought this one used though. Considering getting a new one to see if it's any better.
@@Bata9999it’s funny, even on my Sequential OB-6 and Trigon-6 … every now and again during a session I feel I have to tune them. Analog gear lol. Sounds awesome though … but sometimes finicky
Not a dumb question. I guess it would depend on who you ask. Most people would say yes because there are patch points where you can interface with modular or other semi-modulars. Some people would argue it's not a true semi-modular because you can't reorder the signal path enough. I would say the model D is like 1/4 modular where something like the 2600 is 3/4 modular. In this case you can even consider it true modular because the model D can mount in a eurorack case making it a module. Thanks for commenting!
@Bata9999 thanks! You explained to patch point functioning and the reordering the path, that's all I needed. My friend has got one and I played with it for awhile but that was years ago I've got my eyes set on that Behringer Pro One....I had one and loved the pro one sound in the 80's....wasn't built too well though
@@tonystevenson26 The pro 1 is excellent. I had 2 original pro ones but am quite happy with this little one. The added patch points make it very flexible.
To a certain degreee yeah i would consider the Behringer Model-D semimodular. Especially since you can link several of these Expanders to a 6 Oscillator Synth or more, depending on how many of them you have and combine them.

Damn that hurts. JP-8 is very beautiful.

@@Bata9999 poly d is a good price at longe mcquade, its like 749 or some sht. i compared internationally its a good price.

i switched the giant pitch knobs for 2 smaller ones and moved the big to cutoff and portamento
Great idea! I was thinking if I had anything around to replace the big knobs but didn't think to just swap them.

Nice Walk Though! Model D ..lov it! ;-)!
Thanks! The highpass filter on this thing is actually nasty. Might have to grab a second one.
Mabe a dumb qurstion , but would this be considered semi modular ?
