  • Never underestimate the power of a few simple ingredients and a few minutes of creative coloring! The sparse, flexible body of this fly sheds water quickly, and mimics baitfish with highly organic movement in the water. This one is colored to look like a pinfish - a favorite in my neck of the woods! 💙

    Your fly tying reminds me of the Joy of Painting with Bob Ross. There's always one step that makes me concerned it won't turn out....but then it always does.

      Huge compliment - thank you!!! If I'm honest, there's usually a moment where I'M not sure it'll turn out, but it generally works out :)

    Beautifully done, as usual Erin! It really does resemble a sparkly little baitfish in the water, and as always it's wonderful to be able to watch your creative process. You and Alex do beautiful work! BTW I tried tagging you in a video from Hopko Art Glass where he made a glass tarpon, but I was promptly sent to Insta-jail! 😂

      Thank you so much, Pam! Why on Earth would you get penalized for trying to tag us? We allow our account to be tagged so that's really bizarre!

    • @pamcunningham9608
      @pamcunningham9608 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @shetiesflies I have no clue! Michael Hopko wasn't sure how accurate the tarpon was, so I tagged you thinking that you'd be interested in seeing it. I appealed and the ban was lifted right away, but they still wouldn't let me post for 5 days. 🤷‍♀️

    I live, tie flies & fish in the Scottish highlands & I have to say you are one of the best I have seen in the art of fly dressing. Have you heard of Megan Boyd (1915 to 2001) she was the absolute best in dressing mainly traditional salmon flies for fishermen worldwide (royalty included). She lived up here in the Highlands in a small fairly remote cottage with no electricity or running water but her flies today are collectors items. Check out the book ‘Megan Boyd the story of a salmon fly dresser’ and also the film called ‘Kiss the Water’ which came out in 2013, but I have to say your modern day artistry is second to none.

      Thank you so so much, John! Megan Boyd is absolutely an inspiration to me! I read that she didn't fish, but that her flies were (are) highly sought after! I'm adding the book to my cart now! I sincerely appreciate the kind words and support - means a lot! Also, I visited Scotland and it's one of my favorite places on Earth. Would love to go back someday and spend more time in the highlands!

      Erin you will be most welcome to come back to Scotland (don’t forget your fly rod) you could visit Megan’s cottage or what’s left of it should I say & I’m sure it will give you inspiration in your fly tying journey

    Thoroughly liked the tutorial but, material prep fot the EP fibres would help those watching with less tying experience to build the proper proportions. Thanks again for another great video.

      Really great point, Edward! I originally considered these just relaxing videos and not necessarily tutorials, but with the growing group of folks following along, this is a great consideration!

    It looks easier to do the bodies with the loose fibres than it is with the minnow body wrap

    Hi girl, how are you? Your work is very good. I like to see your work. It's a shame that I live in Brazil, it's far from you. Otherwise, I would invite you to get to know your work better. God bless you.

    I dunno if you've ever answered this but how did you get into fly tying?

    • @shetiesflies
      @shetiesflies  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I've been a fiber artist for over a decade and fished my entire life (though never fly fishing). When I met my boyfriend and he introduced me to fly tying and fly fishing, I gave it a try and never looked back! :)
