Got to host her for a house show some years back. Seriously a quality human and been “the next big thing” in my book since 2010. Phenomenal songwriter.
Had one of her songs from her Honest Life album pop up on my Spotify discovery playlist a couple of years ago, and I've been a fan ever since. Such a wonderful voice she's got
It is very nice when an incredible artist can capture a genre of music a specific listener would usually dislike or feel neutral about, and absolutely revitalize it and make it generational.
honestly, just bend the knee and bow at this lady's feet.. amazing singer/songwriter.. modern day Joni :))) P.s. she has the greatest band .. so intuitive and respectful to the singer and the songs.... saw them live in Whelans, Dublin.. i'm all in :)
I've really been digging into Indie Fold bnds and I had been surfing TH-cam trying to get into Laura Marlins, and I saw a comment that comapredd her to Dylan, Joni MItchel & Cat Powers. Joni Mitchel not so much, Cat Powers maybe, and yet she simply wasn't overwelming me wiht any of her songs. Then I stumbled across the song "Near You" by Courtney Marie Andrews and was immediately floored. I find her vocals to be far more athentic & traditional, perhaps this is what I was looking for all along. I really love this artist.
Came after seeing her open for John Prine (!) last night here in Brooklyn. Vocally, what can you say? Reminiscent perhaps of a young Ronstadt, or perhaps Emmylou--not a bad territory to inhabit. But then there are her songs, and then opening for Prine has to say something. And is she game? Apparently fell down a flight of stairs the night before, and was in the hospital with a concussion (not that I'd know anything had happened, had she not said so). If there's any justice she's going to have a big career.
I keep finding out that some of the people that are going to be at the Winnipeg Folk Festival (which I extremely and exceedingly would like to go to, but unfortunately and most likely cannot and will not go to) are actually previously or now on Tiny Desk. I keep on finding people I already heard about before/ really quite famous people are here. I am glad NPR exists. I also get to hear a lot of different people. I feel quite musically prominent? I don't think that is the word, but I think it is neat I heard of many of these artists before they are on TDC.
Started hearing her and this song came immediately in my mind: th-cam.com/video/Khe1_O6wH4Q/w-d-xo.html She actually sounds even better than Joni Mitchell! Keep up the good word! I'm a fan now... it's actually a relief to hear her singing theses days, where everything sounds the same... There's a reason songs and singers from the 70's are still being heard today: Because they where f#@$#@$ awesome... They made music from the soul!! Courtney Marie Andrews sounds like the 70's... not because she sounds old, but because I can hear her soul in her singing!!! UNBELIEVABLE!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH, COURTNEY ... please keep singing!!!
I bought her shirt. Ive never bought a shirt from a singer songwriter ever. Pay attention musicians if you don’t believe in what you are singing about why do it?
I instantly start crying every time I hear her sing. Absolutely beautiful! What a gift Courtney has!
Table for One came on a playlist and I instantly fell in love with how pretty and sad the music was.
Yes, she definitely has that quality, doesn't she?
When your good looks fade may your kindness remain... lovely!

Had the privilege of watching her open for Jason Isbell. Amazing, talented artist. The power of her voice is a reckoning live.
Such a timeless songwriter and a voice that seems poured from your heart. Beautiful.
I've been looking for this for years, I just didn't know it.
Absolutely wonderful , pure gem ! Discovered with "the honest life" album on KEXP live , i'm still in love with this music .
Love from France!
Woman of Many Colors is one of the best female records in the last 20 years. She's got a great vibe to her & what a great voice! 💕💕
I have 4 of Courtney's albums. She's really wonderful.
Finally! One of the best singers out there! This album is pure gold.
Just class! Easy to reference Emmylou, Ronstadt, Mitchell or Baez here but TBH it doesn't matter just a beautiful performance!!👌🏻
I've been listening to songs since the 60s but this makes me cry like no other song.
Instantly covered in tears and goosebumps. I loved this.
Shades of Joni Mitchell - lovely.
That's exactly what I thought!
And Nick Cave in a higher register.
may your kindness remain
so good Courtney!
One of the best discoveries I’ve had so far. Thanks for bringing so much meaning to your songs, Court.

She is as fine a songwriter as has ever graced us. Yep I said it.

"Hey man, which of your basses has the shortest neck?"
"I got a Fender Mustang..."
"Cool, bring that one."
Bruce Denis I think my Jackson minion bass wins that contest at gigs.
Great voice! Not my style of music at all, but I have to say it's very well performed👍
Finally you’re on NPR music haha 💕
As if Joni Mitchell and Linda Ronstadt had a baby. I love this lady's music.
Major Linda Ronstadt energy

Please Get Billie Eilish on here
Guitar is bigger damn her whole body should have picked something smaller.
Yeah... the first thing i noticed too :)
As a female guitarist myself, I can say that guitar-to-body visual proportions do not necessarily govern the choice of instrument.
@@Trombonology As someone who isn't an idiot myself, I can say you hit the nail on the head.
Yeah...because what she looks like with her guitar is the most important thing...SMH...
@@billyakin3301 Yes that is important comfortability and size effects your ability to play which is clear in this video.
She was kinda annoying in my opinion
Then click on the next video, and keep your damned opinion to yourself.
