@@KangZiJing I mean... Not entirely surprising. Zhu Bajie is essentially a god of lust (patron saint of masseurs, prostitutes, etc...). I just wish there was more of that music in more than just that chapter.
@@theElemDragon Well technically Zhu Bajie in the novel was a celestial deity who got punished for having the worldly desire of lust/romance (in Chinese the literal translation is to have his mortal heart moved) did not really ascend into Buddhahood (or become a bodhisattva or arhat) upon retrieving the scriptures, so I don't think he would be a pillion of "morality" as much as say a boddhisatva, which Lingji (the headless guy) is. Buddhahood is supposed to sort of transcend humanity and universal existence, and if there was a power ranking, they are supposed to top the charts. In the novels and the TV adaptations, Rulai (Syakamuni/Siddharta/The Buddha) and Boddhisattva Guanyin are kind of the most powerful/untouchable figures. Not sure if you already know this, but in Chapter 2, the people were originally Buddhist, but because they stopped worshipping as much because of the King (the rat king), they got punished by getting terrorized by Fuban (the giant beetle). Yellow Robed Sage saved them while passing by one day, and the kingdom started worshipping rats (Yellow Robed Sage is actually not a rat in the novel I believe), which angered whichever buddhism entity/figure was overlooking the area, and they transformed all the humans into rats. I believe the character in question was heavily hinted to be the bodhisattva Lingji. The story also ties back to the question Lingji asks at the end of the chapter as well as the ending cutscene, basically if all "yao guais" are born evil and all "buddhas" are born good, or rather if good (or "morality") is inherent to the circumstances of one's birth.
@@theElemDragon not the god of lust, but a deity who manages the celestial waterways. in the original novel, he was cast down from the heavenly realm for sexual harassment at the workplace. so in some ways this game's take is very different. These characters slowly grow from these flaws throughout their journey.

I dropped the game for weeks because of the difficulty on my first try. But later, I completed the main story anyway. I find the challenge to be quite satisfying, especially when I defeat the boss and start to understand the mechanics. This game reminds me of what a great game used to be. This game is not for everyone, it's for the choosen one.
The story of Bajie had me genuinenly thinking about life, and it hurt my soul so much I hoped he got to reunite and make amends properly, what a master class in writing and cinematography you are BMK.
The spider will come to life. The artifact in Chapter 4 is the lotus pod. In the animation of defeating the BOSS, you can see that the lotus pod is complete, but when we get it, there is one lotus seed missing. Bajie hides a lotus seed, which may be the key to resurrecting the spider.

In the real ending, The MC will reject the headband and he will gain Wukong's memories and also get his freedom without any pressure from The Celestial Court. Also, turns out that Erlang and Wukong pretended to fight in the beginning as they both are tired to the Court. Erlang wants peace and Wukong wants freedom. That's why Wukong called him "Brother" in the prologue because they both are sworn brothers.

This game is the best reminder in recent years that great games still aren't for everyone. I put it down after a few days. Graphics were good, combat was fine, but I've also realized I'm older than I used to be and what I need from games has changed. There were too many bosses, and if my limited time each night to play a game (1-2 hours at most) I could either potentially some the whole time failing to defeat one boss, or spend it grinding in fairly small, repetitive areas. It wasn't for me, though I'm glad so many have enjoyed it and it's nice to see a game release in a finished state.
Same with me; I dropped the game for weeks because of the difficulty on my first try. But later, I completed the main story anyway. I find the challenge to be quite satisfying, especially when I defeat the boss and start to understand the mechanics. This game reminds me of what a great game used to be. However, I agree that this game is not for everyone; if you don't enjoy it, then there is no reason to continue playing it.
@@terrafrayI can definitely see the satisfaction people can get from spending a few hours on a boss. I remember those days with some old school games (I mean God I remember playing games you couldn't save and had to start from scratch every time!) Now though, it's not satisfying to spend what little time I have in an evening making no "progress". I can't play every day, so I also found myself forgetting whatever I had mastered/learned about a boss when I picked it up again. But again, glad people enjoy it!
Final Boss of chapter 2 is difficult until I explore the hidden area and get the stuff that can stop the wind. There is always a stuff that can help you fight the final boss of each chapter. Also, there are many clever ways to fight bosses through which you don't have to play good.
I don't play games with this high of a difficulty level. I work 12 hour shifts as a 911 dispatcher so I need to decompress after work. Not stress out more. Add in the time restrictions as a family man and these types of games are a no go. But it's good to see that quality games are still being made every now and then.
If a boss is too hard, then it's a sign that you need to change your build. Every boss has a weakness, it's up to you to discover it. I died so many times to the Wandering Wight before figuring out how to beat it.
One thing this game does not get a lot of credit (and it should) from is the sheer number of enemy and boss variations. No reskins, no let's now throw two of the same bosses into the same room. All different variations with different movesets than the other mobs/bosses.
I was wondering what creative jokes you'll come up with to make fun of Black Myth Wukong... turns out, you didn't come up with any. :) Can't blame you, this game is god tier!

I love this game. Every time I die I start at the beginning and run through each of the levels doing my best to take as little damage as possible and not use my gourd. It’s led to me learning all the spawn points while building up XP. But the real secret is to put down the game, close out of it completely for a few minutes and come back to it later. Maybe even forget about it for a bit. It keeps things fresh and helps to take breaks. Some enemies only respawn when this happens too.
5:40 that whole chapter hits so hard and then that ending “music video” as the game calls them is just so damn sad. I unironically am reading the whole Journey to West because of that one chapter and the emotion it pulled from me. So yeah I think the devs did a great job considering I can’t think of another game that I have played and the said “yeah let me read a book about it”
This game is really important for its message. Not only return to Monkey. But return to stick! Every weapon out there is either a stick, a rock, or a stick that shoots small rocks!
The best part of this game is actually the ending if you really get what the game trying to express. That's something only people grow up in mainland China can relate. Oh my god this is such a good game.
Bro most of my hours in Black Myth Wukong is just going around in circles, getting entirely lost, failing to find secrets cuz I got lost and give up, and falling off cliffs somehow XD
The visuals and stories are 10/10. The gameplay is just 5/10. The hit boxes on some of the bosses make no sense. You can stand directly in front of someone, and when you attack, you'll swing completely away from your target. There's no blocking, only dodging. I'm a casual gamer and would not recommend this game to anyone who doesn't like wasting their time fighting the same boss 50 times. It's not enjoyable, and you can't change the difficulty level. Waste of money for me, but I can see why hardcore gamers would like it.

All characters in the novel is supposed to be flawed: Wukong is impulsive and proud, Bajie is lazy and gluttonous, Wujing is passive, and Sanzang or JinChanzi in his past life, is too trusting. These characters slowly grow from these flaws throughout their journey.
I really do appreciate when games like these come around and humble you on your gaming skills. Cuz years of playing GOW really had me thinking I was a badass for button-mashing😂
Exactly!! Everyone knows why this GAME was AWESOME! Everything it showed when it debuted was promised on delivery! So simple! Good story, good graphics, good gameplay….GOOD GAME! 😮

@vintding5059 sounds more accurate than all the OMG 10/10 HYPE TRAIN
Can’t wait for the DLCs, and the next Black Myth series
I dropped the game for weeks because of the difficulty on my first try. But later, I completed the main story anyway. Wukong might be the player's first experience with a soul-type game that is rather hard. I find the challenge to be quite satisfying, especially when I defeat the boss and start to understand the mechanics. This game reminds me of what a great game used to be. This game is not for everyone, it's for the choosen one.
for the 'Destined Ones'.
Congrats to complete your journey, Destined One, hope you found your path to enlightment during your journey 🙏
It’s like Tekken in an actionable movie?
Wouldn't call it a souls like. It's way closer to ninja gaiden and it's famous difficulty
much easier than elden ring tho I would say..
Animal crossing: you beat up a cat with a stick
Black myth wukong: a "cat " beat you up with a "stick"
I mean... they did live caption cats and credited an orange chonk named "garfield" as the actor for the tiger vanguard XD
Give us Concord just for hell of it
He has to play it in order to make a trailer. Maybe he just doesn't want to play it.
Well there's no game at all anymore to play or to record. They have to find the 60 bots that played it on launch just for the footage hahahhahahaha

You got your Own PERSONAL Cannibis home supplier.
AND to top it off, your local gun store on my man Yin Tiger 😂💀
Just FYI if you got the headband put on your head in the end after the finale... you got the wrong ending
确实是错的,那个headband并不是王冠,而是一种束缚。就想开局wukong就是因为这个headband才输的。
@@clintl.4894 The true ending is when you found all of the Loong brothers in 4 different chapters and defeat them, and go back to Chapter 3 to a secret area in near Pagoda to meet Erlang Shen (the three eyes guy that Wukong fought in the prologue) and defeat him with the 4 Gods.
What do you mean?
i lost it at Decapicito 😂
Bojacked Horseman did it for me.
The real enemy of this game is:
The camera angle because sometimes the boss is too big, I can't even see where the MC is
Ah yes, the classic souls-like camera. You should have prepared to fight your own camera because this game is literally souls game (NO IT'S NOT GOD OF WAR, THERE IS NO RESEMBLANCE OF IT'S MECHANICS)
after elden ring, i didnt find it really that annoying in black myth tbh
there were some moments but overall it worked pretty well...at least for me^^
"deliver what it advertised" is now a hard standard for many games, so sad.
I'm now more interested in seeing Concord wining game of the year now, because every gamer will know Black Myth Wukong is the best game this year (if not for recent years), which is enough. (Plus 20M+ sales)
Wukong might be the player's first experience with a soul-type game that is rather hard. I find the challenge to be quite satisfying, especially when I defeat the boss and start to understand the mechanics. This game reminds me of what a great game used to be. However, I agree that this game is not for everyone; if you don't enjoy it, then there is no reason to continue playing it.
@@terrafrayI can definitely see the satisfaction people can get from spending a few hours on a boss. I remember those days with some old school games (I mean God I remember playing games you couldn't save and had to start from scratch every time!)
Now though, it's not satisfying to spend what little time I have in an evening making no "progress".
"wait where's the pro part?!" Had me laughing! 😂
I was wondering what creative jokes you'll come up with to make fun of Black Myth Wukong... turns out, you didn't come up with any. :) Can't blame you, this game is god tier!

Reject West, Return to East.
The labyrinth in question: one branch path that always circles back to the main path
Bajie 😥😢😭
5:40 that whole chapter hits so hard and then that ending “music video” as the game calls them is just so damn sad. I unironically am reading the whole Journey to West because of that one chapter and the emotion it pulled from me. So yeah I think the devs did a great job considering I can’t think of another game that I have played and the said “yeah let me read a book about it”
Then you better start reading investiture of the gods cus ther next game gonna relate to it 1🤣
A book written 400 years ago none the less

The best part of this game is actually the ending if you really get what the game trying to express. That's something only people grow up in mainland China can relate. Oh my god this is such a good game.
So what is it trying to express
The plot sounds like basically Simon's Quest but instead of reviving Dracula, it's someone far, _far_ more dangerous.

You forgot to mention how much the modern game industry hate this game and the players that chose it instead of Concord
Rejected Concord, Embraced Monke
To be fair, that's every good game these days. The industry is filled with people who were never told "no" as children, I think.
"until you finally reach the boss.. and get your red baboon ass handed to you" killed my lungs because of how true it is 😂😂😂😂
The game EVERY gamer is streaming on TikTok and Twitch.
This is the only game I bought at full price.
