I was never into slipjoints but this one peaked my interest. I’m definitely going to get one

One of the most interesting videos I’ve seen on here in a LONG time. Terrific job you did tying together a variety of blades all across the spectrum.
I’ve got a couple of Cadets in my rotation & they really are excellent.
I’m super interested in picking up a GEC...but, I am really having a difficult time locating exactly what I want.
    Thanks for the video!

Though I've never been an aficionado of Benchmade knives, I respect their good name and quality of products.
Recently, however, there are two of their folders that have caught my attention: the Bugout and the Proper. Too many of the good slip joints only come with carbon steel, so it's nice of Benchmade to make it with stainless steel. 😉

Thanks for a very interesting review of what is one of my favourite knives. I have a OD green cadet LE which is great but the Proper sees more use as it's more robust. All those others in your collection are very nice too, especially that TC.

Great video. Subbed. Just FYI, it is very very easy to disassemble this knife. Takes some finagling to initially full it apart once the screws are out, but there really are not that many parts. Do it over a table so you don't accidentally lose the stop pin. Once I cleaned the factory grease off and lubed it the walk and talk gets better. Putting it back together you just reverse the process and keep in mind you have to push the spring a little to get the blade back in. Very thorough and watchable video. Thanks.

I have a Benchmade, several Northwoods slip joints and a Leatherman Squirt PS4. I always have the Squirt with me but my favs are all Victorinox SAKs which I'm a huge fan of because of price point and utility. If I'm going to cut cardboard it's the Benchmade because it's a beefier knife but, for edc and everyday casual use my SAKs just can't be beat in my opinion. Thanks for your video....well done.

Excellent video. I really appreciated the comparison to the whole gamut of knives. I've been thinking about getting the Proper, and this video may have been the kick in the ass to grab one. I really really like that GEC, but I don't have the appreciation for slip joints to appreciate that level of quality at this point.

Gateway to the deep dark rabbit hole of slipjoints is a pretty apt description of this guy for me.

"Oh wow, a slip joint is pretty inexpensive for the level of fit and finish you're getting. And wow, this is so nice the action makes me so happy"
      10 slipjoints later
      "Where'd all my money go?"

Aside from my feelings of inadequacy regarding your glove size, awesome video. Thanks for explaining and demonstrating the walk and talk. I must admit I didn't really know what that meant although I hear it mentioned a lot. I've definitely been interested in the Proper, although I'm gonna need that H&T slip too. And that Oeser, what a beauty.

I really think you took your time on this review and didn't come off as a knife snob at all. I feel the same way about literally everything that was said in this video. The walk and talk kinda leaves me cold, but it's not a deal breaker. People just get a knife and immediately want to do something like regrind it or whatever else and complain about steels. I don't see myself using a traditional knife for any application that requires jimping and a M390 blade steel.

They make a million Swiss Army Knives a year and they all turn out near perfect. There’s a lesson there for some companies. But, currently the best finished production companies come from the Taichung factory in Taiwan ... Spyderco and Enzo.

You can find these for $90 if you look hard enough, found mine on r/knife_swap. I carry the Proper way more than I carried my Northwoods just b/c of the steel, torx and feel in my hand. Great review. I think the jimping is probably there for whittling.

Got one a year ago and the quality control was terrible. Actually had 2 washers on one side and one on the other. Lost it sadly. Just got another one from DLT. Absolutely perfect this time.

Great little knife, I’ve 2 (this one and the DLC/Blue G10 ltd edition), but I think the fit & finish could be better, the grind is OK, but I prefer others in my collection, especially my Enzo PK70s. Have a peek at my channel for both of these and a couple of dozen other similar sub 3” folders. Look at the Enzo’s fit & finish for example and the titanium/G10 was exactly the same price as my Proper.
