- This is such an exciting day for me and thanks for being apart of it! I have always had so many recommendations to play this game and now I really wish I had listened sooner. BUT better late than never! Without saying it's my new favorite - let me just say that it's been a long time since a game has surprised me this much. I am still very new to this combat so be patient with me while I learn the abilities, characters, pace, and this gorgeous world of FF.

This is going to be great! FF7 Remake was also my introduction to Final Fantasy, and this was my game of the year! Enjoy the journey!
Aww I'm glad to hear this! Did you go on to the others after?
@@Kastaclysm FF7 Remake is my favorites❤
@@Kastaclysm I have gone on to play Integrade (the DLC) and I’m playing through FF7 Crisis Core Reunion. I will definitely be playing FFXVI when it comes to PC.
@@matthewjordan7297 I would highly recommend that everyone play the original FF7 before Crisis Core.
@@Freebytes I second this. It takes some of the punch from the original story to be vague.
It's cool that you're taking time to learn/engage with the game's mechanics with patience. A lot of people just try to brute force through because they just want to turn their brain off while gaming (which is understandable), but getting into the intricacies of a deep battle system like FF7R's is half the fun, saves you headaches further down, and gives you a deeper connection to the overall narrative design.
I literally clapped when you realized that they possibly made the explosion larger in order to vilify our protagonists. Such great intuition without even knowing who those other 2 men are. So glad you are enjoying this. The original became my favorite game when I was 10, the year it came out and I love seeing what new fans think of this rendition.
Yeah I was impressed that she caught on to that because hardly anyone does on their first playthrough if they haven't played the original.
@@TwistedSislertrue, people nowadays are used to be told what’s happening, it’s the lack of “show don’t tell” principle in modern media, here they literally show that their own robots tear the place down, and so many people playing the game completely miss that. Sorry had to vent a little lmao.
Same 👍
Very, very perceptive of her! I see countless of people glans over it and not pay any attention to it.
Agreed, almost half of the FF7 veterans i've seen play didn't even seem to understand that
Glad to see you are loving it. Worldbuilding in FF is god tier, and the story is complex and adult, but FF never forgets about being light-hearted, funny and even over the top in some moments. If you are not used to it, it might cause some whiplash, but once one gets used to it, it just makes every game more memorable and charming. You will love the characters and their interactions so much!!
This is the best way to put it! Was an adjustment, but I now love the dialogue and light hearted moments so much!
This is gonna be a journey you will definitely fall in love with. I absolutely love seeing people discover FF
As a long time fan of FF7 since literally day 1, I really love watching someone fall in love with the story for the first time! I'm really looking forward to this series!
FF 7,8,9,10 have a very special place in my heart. It would be nice to see you make your way through them all eventually
I am up for it! I do like to bounce around to different games, but even if they are different than this one I want to experience them all.
Nice to hear! Amazing stories that will stay with you for life
6 is great too
@@coolshots- hard agree 👍🏾
@@Kastaclysm FF1 to 10-2 didn't have too many differences because they are mainly all the same "stand in a line and take turns" thing. It was their progression/customization systems that differed. 12 13 trilogy and 15 were rapidly different from each other though. Personally I prefer the modern games now but I still enjoy playing the ps1 games every few years
Have to commend you on actually switching characters and using skills! It’s how it was intended to be played. For your first Final Fantasy game you’re doing an awesome job!
Nice to see someone playing a game without being over the top just purely enjoying the game and having fun with it it is a great game and your a cool lady
Not sure if anyone gave you this tip, or if you possibly figured it out already since you’re ahead, but if you’re in Punisher Mode and hold down R2, Cloud automatically counters. It’s a handy tip for some enemies you’ll see later.
Glad you’re enjoying your first foray into the Final Fantasy worlds, the OG FFVII was my first when I was like 6-7. My friends and I would go to GameStop and look at strategy guides/magazines to try and figure stuff out. It’s a great game, definitely different as far as combat goes since it’s a turn-based/strategy game. If I remember correctly, they didn’t go to open combat until 11, but I could be mistaken. The opening movie you saw is actually extended from the original game, obviously much more detailed and well crafted then it’s counterpart, but I got goosebumps the first time I saw it in Remake cause I’d been waiting for this game for so long 😂. It was actually supposed to originally be a PS3 generation game.
Very excited to be a part of your FF7 Remake Journey! This is going to be a fun Series, such an action packed start. Glad your enjoying it! 🤗
FF7 has one of the best video game intros of all time, both versions. The music, reveal of cloud, zoom out to show Midgar; all iconic.

Maggie u probably started with the best final fantasy game ever made it’s the best not just for the story but u don’t have to spend hours farming like u do in the other ones u level up and move on as the story goes it’s so damn perfect I’m so happy for u to experience this for the first time 😊
PS hopefully when u get to the point to do side quests u do all of them good loot involved 😊
Why play a RPG if you don't want to grind? It's like wanting to read a book but not actually wanting to read the words
@@Bishop64 it’s the way the world is now with games it’s why there are Audio books out so u don’t have to read the words
I really love how thorough you are, looking at the scenery and reading up on enemies and making connections with what happened so far! I am excited to see more.

Nothing beats an old-school let's player
I remember this old school game back in 97 I believe when it first came out. As a 39 year old, I still the old and new version to this day!
the year I was born... haha
45 yrs old here, and same.
@@Kastaclysm lol 😆! That’s awesome!
I grew up with the old NES and Super NES and Sega consoles. Man I’m old lol
@@krazyknva78 badass! Old school in here!
@@quadzilla5285 They just haven’t gotten to that part of the story yet. It will definitely be in the game.
Sorry for this comment being so long, but you inspire me to say so much haha. This video was everything I hoped it be and more. You are the ONLY TH-camr where I purposefully watch every moment of gameplay. With others, I often skip to cutscene reactions since I’ve usually played the game and don’t feel the need to rewatch combat.
But you do such a great job providing commentary all throughout and this was like seeing my favorite game with all new eyes. It really felt enjoyable seeing you discover the ins and outs of the systems, world, and story. You made something so nostalgic for me feel brand new again.
Also, I’ve noticed in most of your playthroughs that you have an incredibly intuitive way of understanding gameplay mechanics from a game design standpoint. You’re absolutely right that the best way to enjoy the combat is constantly swap party members and maximize their abilities.
I want you to discover the world lore on your own but one very minor piece of context that I think is a good baseline thing to know (and you may have already figured out): SOLDIERS are essentially Captain America style super soldiers made by Shinra. They expose them to Mako experiments, which is why Cloud’s eyes are Mako-colored. All SOLDIERS are like that. And though their designation sounds generic (SOLDIER) it is the most elite level in Shinra’s military. The regular Shinra guards you fight are just regular infantryman with no Mako super soldier juice. That’s also why Cloud can jump so high and carry a sword that’s almost as much as his body weight 😂
But wait, Cloud isn't actually a......nvm you already know where I'm going with this.
You did really well. The boss fights are usually long, so I wouldn't worry that yours lasted as long as it did. I might have used a few more lightning spells, since it was weak to that attack, but that's about it. Generally speaking, but not always, metal enemies are weak to lightning, humans to fire, monsters to ice, and flying enemies to wind. Glad you are enjoying it so far.
I’m SO excited for this series. FF has been my favorite games to play by far!
Just finished your rebirth play through, now starting remake. I’m gonna definitely enjoy this one as well. Where the journey began. I love ff7 😁
So excited for this, it's gonna be like 50 parts if you only do hour sessions 😂
I know... I'm at CH 8 as of today and trust me they get longer haha I didn't realize it had been three hours when I finished recording. Such a testament to how fun and enjoyable this game is!

i just got this game a few days ago. and this is my first FF game as well so far im LOVING the game cant wait to play the others.
Fun fact#1
The thing about Final Fantasy is every single game is its own thing and they don’t lineup with each other at all so you don’t have to worry in what order you play them. And it’s always a fantasy universe so it’s not necessarily futuristic it’s just a fantasy world
This is just about the most refreshing game channel out there right now. You’re a very genuine person with genuine critique and emotion while playing. Love it.
Hope you enjoy! 7 is by far the most iconic and extremely special to me.
Final Fantasy is also very easy to get into since every game is it’s own new story and characters and now 16 is coming out and I couldn’t be more hyped! 21 more days! 😭
Been looking for someone playing the remakes as their first experience and not sullied by the Original like me and you were recommended to me, I'm looking forward to experencing your journey I'm so jealous. Only half way through the vid but the excitment already reminds me of a young me.
Great to see someone go in blind, nothing worse than someone letting a chat guide them through a game
Yeah, really don't like seeing that
I 100% relate to your comments at the beginning about how your gaming taste growing up was dictated by what your brothers played! Love to hear that from a fellow gamer girl 😊
Growing up i played mostly RTS games, classic Nintendo games like Mario, Smash Bros, and FPS games like Halo. No hate to any of those games or genres, i enjoyed all of my time playing them, but as i have grown up and now am an adult and have had time to explore whatever games fit MY taste, i realize I prefer very different styles than what i grew up on, hahaha
Now i vastly prefer RPG's, especially story-focused, action RPG's that play almost like movies like this one!
It all started with Zelda:Twilight Princess, then Fable III, then Skyrim, then Dragon Age: Inquisition, Mass Effect, Jedi: Fallen Order, Survivor, Plague Tale... THIS is my perfect game genre! 😁
I don't know if I'll ever own a Playstation or gaming PC, so thanks for letting me experience FF here with you!
Typical sibling move to blame the older siblings 😂
Ohh I know... as the youngest and only girl it's my job to blame them haha
Just wait till you play ff8 and squalls let's say unique personality 😅😅 the card game mini game is so addictive 😅😅
@@lifeasafanpodcast9529 is be down for an ff8 play through but she would hate the combat system
FF7 is my favorite game of all time. However, i believe that in order to fully understand and love this remake... you'd have to have played the original. I say this because the remake is not just a remake. This will make more sense as you play and thus why you would enjoy this remake more if you play the original first. But it's still awesome that your first FF is #7! Enjoy
There are attacks that really helps you to stagger your enemies like Cloud's Focused Thrust. So whenever you see the word pressured written below the enemies' bar, use attacks like them.
Punisher stance counters most physical attacks, learned that one way too late on my first playthrough. My second I was a parry God because of this
@@nedzed3663 same. It was a game changer once I switched to hard
@@system0fadowner251 It trivialized some boss battles that gave me shit my first playthrough.
Great job on the combat. Most players I have seen have a difficult time with it, especially when it comes to the first boss fight, but you caught on pretty quickly. Please don't rush through this game and just enjoy it since this is your first playthrough of a Final Fantasy game. You deserve to get the full experience out of it so that you can truly appreciate it for what it is. This will eventually lead you to experience more awesome FF games such as 8,10, and many, many more. All games have amazing stories with great character depth that will keep you invested until the very end. I hope you enjoy it because you're in for treat.
I played the original when it came out into the ground and back. The opening sequence give me goosebumps every time. I envy your first playthrough. Take your time and enjoy it.
Your expressions were golden! Going to enjoy watching a FF noob play one of the great games ever made.
Growing up playing a lot of OG Final Fantasy games including VII this was a fantastic remake, esp having lot of elements from the original but making it a completely different story. It's crazy how this game covers the first few hours of the original's beginning and the graphics
This is my favorite game. I love watching playthroughs, it's so much fun to see someone experience it for the first time.
Okay I'm 26 minutes in and so far so great. I'm loving that you aren't one of those playthrough types that are on Twitch and constantly stop after each battle and have 5 minute conversations with their chat. This is the kind of play through I can get down with. Sub'd!
Lol thats why i stopped watching twitch. Im tired of that and beyond over it
Final Fantasy and most other JRPGs don’t really have “realistic” dialogue. But what it lacks in realism it makes up for with its overwhelming charm. Hope you grow to love it!!
Define realistic? That is a subjective term that could mean a lot of things.
It might not be realistic in the sense that it doesn't flow like 21st century internet vernacular, but it's realistic in the sense that the characters speak true to their character.
@@RaifSeverence relax my guy I put it in quotes for a reason
This is an excellent start to your final fantasy journey! Final Fantasy is my favorite game series, so I can't wait to see the journey unfold for you.😁
i dont necessarily think that FF7 remake was meant to be an introduction to the FF franchise but really to an homage to the generational title that was FF7. It was built to make lots of call backs, specific narration and changes that can be understood from veterans. Ironically, this is also why it could also be the best way to introduce someone into the FF universe. They've poured all the love, money, respect and effort it is humanly possible to do. I still think its going to actually not be appreciated to its full depth BUT will def make someone interested to other FF titles that i think cant really live up to this for said prior reasons.
The battle system in FF7 Remake is also a good introduction to the series in my eyes, since its basically a 50/50 mix out of the modern Action gameplay and the classic ATB system.
Oh, very much looking forward to that playthrough. Pretty much the game that kept me sane during 2020 lol
I'm honestly jealous. Not that old FF games are bad of course, I LOVE them, but to be able to start into the franchise with a game like this. Man.
Really glad you're enjoying the game! I got chills the first time I played this, the intro is pretty much shot for shot the intro from the OG FF7 but in the modern graphics, so it was basically main lining nostalgia for me. 😄
Being the best in the series 7 is probably indeed the best to start with. 16, 15 to some degree, and 14 if you like mmos are good entries as well
My only complaint about FF7 and FF7R is that I could only play them for the first time once.
Oh baby, you have no idea how many people I've watched play through this game. 😂 I will for sure be checking out your playthrough. I just discovered your channel but I like your attitude and enthusiasm. :)
15:35 "You know the Loot Goblin's gonna loot." SAME!!!! doesn't matter the game we gotta feed the addiction lmao. Sooo excited for this playthrough!!!
Looking forward to it. You took on it all in grace and quick learning. Most players or anyone online are slow to learn.
You are quick to adapt I respect that.
Thats a good life lesson in general.
The original FF7 was my first FF game (back in 99) so it holds a special place in my heart. I like the remake though it's more of a sequel and I feel like the game expects you to have played the original when it throws those visions that Cloud has, and they changed the story quite a bit especially towards the end. But I'm sure you'll enjoy it nonetheless. Do check out the original too though!
Your reason behind this being the one to start with is wonderful. You will fall in love. What made this Remake so good for those that played before is the nostalgia. I played this game originally on the PSOne and loved it. Now 20 years later it's finally been remade AND the music?!!!!! *chef's kiss*
Just a fair warning BE CAREFUL WHEN READING YOUR COMMENTS: since the second part of this game is coming out in December there is a large surge of people spoiling this game online before streamers can get through even just *this* part.
@Zac Atkinson The trailer said winter so I would assume that means December, but early 2024 works too because there might've been some sort of delay I haven't heard about

This is one of my favorite RPG's I have ever played. I appreciate how you read and try to understand everything, all the context and don't just run through the game. Your reactions seem genuine, and not forcefully pushed for views. Your attention to detail is sky high which I love about this playthrough so far. Very astute. Subbed.
Final fantasy 10 is always a good start for some people great story to get into it aswell
I think going to 10 next might be the move, but 16 looks awesome too!
@@Kastaclysm 10 is an excellent old school game to start with after this one, whatever u decide, enjoy
@@Kastaclysm 10 is fantastic. It has a good HD version packaged with 10-2 as well.
New to your page and loving it. FF7 stands out as the first game i properly fell in love with as a kid. I know a lot of fans of the original have issues with the remake, but personally love both.
Enjoy, the nostalgia hits very hard here. 7 Remake offers things for new, and old fans. What they are doing for this is incredible, fleshing out the characters/world.
The only thing it offered was a bad taste in my mouth compared to the original.
oh no really?😢😢😢😢😢😢
"if there's 2 things i can do, it's sniff-out loot and crush boxes"
Well funny you should mention you're good at destroying boxes. Since you said you're way ahead of this upload i'm sure you already know what i'm referring to. 🤣
"If you played the original, that intro would've made you so excited." As someone whose favorite game ever is FFVII, that intro made me cry. I had to put the game down for like 5 minutes to compose myself ROFL
I don't often rewatch streamer let's plays, but I find myself coming back and rewatching your entire FF7 series quite often. I just love your mindset as a new (well, not anymore!) Final Fantasy player! It's amazing seeing other people's fresh reactions to the world and stories FF sets up, and something about you and your interpretation of the universe always draws me back. You are definitely my favorite FF7 streamer.
Good that you embraced switching characters in battle from the beginning. The combat system is really designed to have switching frequently to be to your advantage. I dont think I've seen anyone unfamiliar with Final Fantasy crush the first combat boss and tutorial areas as well as you did
I'm a simple man. I will subscribe just to see you play this awesome game! I hope you enjoy playing this! Thus, because this is your very first Final Fantasy game, your reactions will be legendary!!
I played the Original FF7 as a kid and playing remake gave me goosebumps
Final fantasy 7 is still the greatest game of all time for me. I was 15 years old when it released back in 97 and I’ll never forget the memories of playing that game. FF7 remake is amazing. Hope you enjoy it.
im so excited for this series, i played without knowing shit abt the original but i loved it so much i ended up playing it afterwards and that made it even better, specially when you realize this is more of a sequel/reboot than an actual remake
edit: I also wasn’t used to the combat style but it’s honestly my favorite combat style in any game now, i love going back to it and trying different gear and such, tho it took me a while to get used to it
Ohh this is so nice to hear - do you recommend going back to the original then??? I'm about 6 episodes in now and I can tell you I LOVE this combat now... maybe more than souls....
@@Kastaclysm i went back to the original cause i wanted to be able to watch theory videos without feeling like i got spoiled lol, i ended up liking it but i won’t lie, it was kind of a struggle to get into, and i wasn’t able to fully get into the gameplay, i more so “got used to it” and pushed through for the story, but it was a fun experience to see how games changed over time, specially with a game that(from what i gathered cause i wasn’t even born when it came out) was so revolutionary for the time :)
side note: The DLC for the remake is also really good and it’s completely new content that makes a character from the original a lot more likable
(sry if this is hard to read, english isn’t my first language🧍🏻)
@@Kastaclysm hahahahaha. You like this CURRENT game's combat more than souls? Wow! Color me surprised. I would have never guessed ;-) lol I picked this one up the other day when you said you'd be playing it next. It's my first FF game as well and I'm liking it a lot so far.
@@Kastaclysm I’m guessing so many other folk will say yes. It’s a great game but if you do play it, the visuals are hard for some people to stick with. You will be surprised with how much this game adds to such a small section of the OG game. You will definitely see the parts of the OG game that directly inspired this “remake” though. Regardless, enjoy your play through and enjoy yourself in this world and the others found within the FF franchises (very few have anything to do with each other).
I remember years and years ago when the original Final Fantasy 7 came out, me and my friend went and picked up our pre-orders and played it for more than 24 hours straight. FF7 was one of the most anticipated games of all time. ❤
Oh a blind playthrough is always entertaining to watch. Seems youre a natural at the combat, love to see it.
I’m rewatching your walkthrough on this game and I love seeing your perspective on a game you never played. You and Olizandri have the two Final Fantasy 7 Remake walkthroughs I love to rewatch again and again. This game is a masterpiece.
This was such a fun episode to watch. You're incredibly intuitive, and make experiencing the game vicariously a great joy!
You are the ONLY new FF player I enjoy watching play through this game. Others are not as fun, open minded, inquisitive or simply enjoyable to watch go through as a newcomer to the series.
Final Fantasy 7 is such a great game. I know you'll love it. Word of advice Maggie u can only use abilities and spells when u have ATB. Also phoenix down only works in battle to revive a downed partner. Enjoy your journey thru Midgar!
1:14:38 -- Wow! A very shrewd analysis! You're the first person I've seen pick up on that so fast, especially having not played the OG!
OG FF7 literally got me into video games. The 1st time I was introduced to compelling characters that I could relate to in some way, a epic plot that evolves, makes me care about it, and get invested, all told in video game format, was completely new to me & blew me away. I was hooked! Remake exceeded my expectations, truly a beautiful masterpiece. Hope you enjoy your time in this world, and get to experience more of these games! Cheers!
Glad you were able to jump on board with this legendary title. The original made a huge impact on us in 1997 and seeing Remake have such an impact on people new to the game is just awesome.
Great episode! Btw dont worry about getting confused about the story. This game is part one of a trilogy and alot of it will get explained. There's some references and easter eggs to the original game but for the most part you can piece together what's going on. Even veterans dont know everything because Remake deviates from the original story. Anyway have fun!
It's so wonderful watching you discover this game for the first time.
I can't tell you how great it is to see someone new to FFVII, even new to the series, get pumped up by that intro. As someone who played the original many years ago, that intro hits me hard every single time. Teary-eyed and all. Enjoy the ride!
Oooh I love seeing people new to the game fall in love with FF7. These videos are now my entertainment for the next few days!!
That look in your eyes, the excitement in the voice, the enthusiasm... you're at the begining of a Journey, i did that around november 1997 and then again in april 2020, now it's your turn i hope you enjoy the ride like i did!
The fact that youre so thorough with exploring the area is telling me that youre absolutely going to love this game! Got a new fan over here. Cant wait to see you play the rest
Im so excited to watch this. I love watching peoples introduction to this game. Original or remake. Welcome the world! Hope you enjoy and fall in love with it
Very very well done. I've watched a lot of playthroughs over the years, and no one was ever as thorough. A joy to watch. Going to watch the rest of your journey as well.
So your FFX playthrough is how I discovered you so I decided to go back and revisit this playthrough and man did FFVII remake do it's job the way you are head over heels for FFX and it's characters.
Be excited about the sequel too. Final Fantasy VII REBIRTH is Part 2 in this trilogy and it’s coming out in early-2024 😁
Edit: An official trailer for Rebirth is out and the game is scheduled for early-2024!
I love this game, and I really enjoy seeing people experience it! Especially when they pick up on the hints and foreshadowing!
If only Kasta knew how much emotion that opening title splash screen invokes to those who played the original. Maybe the MOST nostalgia out of any piece of media I've ever experienced.
It is great to see someone fall in love with the world of FF7 so fully. Listening to you explain your thought process and the feelings that you are experiencing makes me remember when I fell in love with the original.
I also think it is endearing how you marvel over small mechanics that are part and parcel to most RPGs, and how you question things that to people who have grown with the genre find to be so small or obvious.
I wish i coyld experience that feeling of falling in love with those things again for the first time.
I've been playing FF since forever. You are doing MUCH better then I was when I started playing Remastered.
Wow! I'm actually blown away with this video. You're incredibly well-spoken; notice every fine little detail there is to notice. Can't wait to binge this series of yours!
I’m always down for someone’s first run through a final fantasy game. I wish I could relive mine, so I hope you enjoy this one. Series is magic
Hell yeah! Final Fantasy is amazing. Final Fantasy 10 is my favorite of all of them. highly recommend that one next
10 is so good. Has a great HD version as well.
I hope she goes back to watch just the intro of the OG FF7 then rewatch the intro of this Remake. Seeing that will show the justice of them trying to capture the same magic and they are doing such a FREAKINGGG good job at it
Great start to the game. Hope you enjoy the rest of the game as much as you enjoyed the intro. The battle system's a real joy.
If you don't want any tips stop reading here and continue to enjoy the game. Just noticed some things that you missed, forgot to read or the game don't mention. No Spoilers.
* One thing to remember is to use abilities that begins with "focused" when enemies are pressured or staggered. As it says in the description, this will increase staggering more effectively than other abilities(As will Operator mode with Cloud). Easy to miss, real handy to remember.
Weaknesses and interrupting charging attacks will open enemies up to be pressured -> Focused Thrust/Shot, weaknesses or other specific abilities will raise pressure bar more than other attacks
-> weaknesses and other strong offensive attacks when staggered(For example Braver, which has higher damage compared to Focused thrust).
* Remembering to use operator modes counter attack is also a great way to put some enemies off balance. For example the Shock troopers you encountered on the way out of Reactor 1, these have high dexterity and dodges most of the attacks. Counter will put them in either pressure or stagger.
* It's nice to know that Barret has the "Cure" spell. This heals you like a potion, but uses MP instead. There's also L1 for potions when not in battle, the game never tells you about that.
* Phoenix down can only be used on a party member that has been K.O.ed.
*Maybe you like just using the menus(who am I to judge), but try using the shortcuts once or twice and see if that is something you feel adds to your enjoyment of the action. It really keeps you engaged in the action. But from what I understand there's a lot of people really like going 100% old school.
FF7R was also my first ever FF game and it quickly became one of my GOATS. It literally gave me nostalgia even tho I never played the original. Something about the music is so special to me
