I struggled with holding the revs on 4-5k while going 4mph…..the mechanic in me was crying for the clutch until I was told it’s bathed in oil…..actual ride went well except for the other guy rolling into me attempting his hill start….I ended up being his handbrake and he still passed after dropping the bike 🫣
@@TwoWheelsTommy I know a lad who failed, never got to the bottom of why. He required further training and another cbt. He’s gone on to fail his mod 1, twice once for not doing a life saver and another for failing to stop in the box…he refuses to use the front brake as it’s caused him to crash twice before so he favours his rear brake 🤪
My instructor for my cbt was the greatest teach I’ve had in anything before. He knew my intention was to move onto a bigger bike unlike everyone else who was there on the day who’s intentions were papa johns. There was 3 of us and legally he could only have 2 students with him so he told me to go for a coffee and wait a couple hours for my on road part. We did all the basic stuff pretty quick but because I wanted to go onto a big bike he taught me filtering and took me onto the a406 dual carriageway near Finchley Central. I’ll never forget Mike he taught me so much more than he had to and I truly appreciate it. Booked my theory for the 19th of may 🤞 another great vid Tommy keep em coming
Haha took me a while to figure out you meant delivery drivers (I've never lived anywhere near a Papa Johns!) I'm sure I used to drive on the A406, is that the north circular? No wonder Mike showed you how to filter, I must have spent about 10 years sat in traffic on that road. Good luck with your theory 😀
I live in Birmingham, so the traffic is almost as bad as London, but the instructors were so good that when it came to the route on my CBT I was ready for every scenario. I did a one week intensive course, I passed 1st time for my CBT and I managed to pass and get my full bike licence within 5 days. Thanks for sharing and see you on your next adventure ✌️ 🤙 🤟
Sounds like you had a good instructor. To me that is the perfect way to get your licence, how much different did you find the big bike compared to the 125?
Great video. I did my CBT back in 2015. The on road bit only lasted an hour as our instructor got knocked off his bike at the traffic lights. Someone rear-ended him. Fortunately he was fine and we still got our certificates
I'm amazed that you can remember your road ride route. Mine is a blur of terror and joy (and many reminders to cancel my indicator !). My instructor was great and many of the things he said have subsequently come back to me and have started to become 2nd nature as I have begun to gain experience. I was covering (and riding) the rear brake on my cbt too, but now I rest the balls of my feet on the pegs as I'm no longer terrified of not finding the the rear brake or clutch when I need them. It's a much more comfortable riding position too (almost as if that's how the bike was designed ;-) )
This is my third stint living on the Isle of Wight (not in the prisons 🤣) so I know most of the main routes well. I had to spend a while looking on google earth to figure out the bits after Cowes/Gurnard as I'd never been down there before my CBT. I did manage to sort my brake foot out and it hasn't happened after I got a ticking off! Onwards and upwards 💪
Love your videos mate! im from ryde and did my cbt with paul at pit stop. i remember my cbt and we went to steve porter industrial site. we was doing the emergency stop and when he put his arm up to say stop i actually waved at him xD
I did my CBT in 2016 as I went the direct access route passed all first time but on the CBT there were 4 of us two did not go one the road so it was myself and a young lad on his 17 birthday as we come out the car park I went round instructor went round kid come off after 345 pounds worth of damage to the bike after talking with him turned out we went round in wrong gear and lost control so just myself passed
My IBT was 3 hours long and I nearly died. Lost control of my clutch at a T junction and flew out into traffic luckily everyone slammed on and I didn't die. Still passed and I haven't looked back since. It still gives me nightmares
Oh dear! Easy to do though, lots of new things to figure out in a short space of time. It doesn't take much for it to go wrong fast! Glad it all worked out well for you 👌
Binge-watching all your videos at the moment mate. Need to get a job first them I'm gonna get into bikes. Just want to have my own freedom to go wherever I want. Your videos are very helpful and let me know what I should be expecting for my CBT. Keep it up :)
Thanks! Actually it was my first solo by far. Having an instructor behind you on the CBT gives you a safety net. On my first solo I had to take care of myself!
I thought I messed up my CBT royally couldn't do the u turn 3 times was over thinking it then we moved onto emergency stop which we had to drive down the road a bit turn around in the road (another u turn) did that fine and emergency stop fine he said you know you did the u turn perfectly then it's because you weren't having to think about it so got the pass thanks to that bit when my mind was too busy thinking about the emergency stop instead
Personally I think there should be a bit more practical riding before you are let loose on a 60mph road. It felt very odd doing that on my first day on a bike!
@@TwoWheelsTommy back when I passed my test (makes me sound old lol), there wasn't as much traffic on the road, it was less stressful and it's when bikes were bikes, so many bikes now have a lot of rider modes, cool if it's for safety, but the grey matter is used less. Swings and roundabouts tbh. I gave up driving the buses because of congestion, way after I passed my bike test, I gave up cars in 2008. Bikes all the way from now on for me 👍 Sounds as though I'm contradicting my 1st comment, but the world grows, just the way it is.
You can doa CBT on the island but I believe you have to travel over to the mainland for MOD 2. I need to look into this further once I've passed my theory test 👍
There is a driving test centre for the Isle of Wight that you can do your Mod 2, but for Mod 1 you have to travel to the mainland and the nearest test centre for the island is Lee-on-the-Solent, which is about a 40 minute ride from getting off of the ferry at Portsmouth.
@@TwoWheelsTommy just passed my cbt today. In n.Ireland we have to do it on 650cc for direct access.. nearly shit myself cos I was so bad going around roundabouts 😆 🤣
Did you mess up at all on your CBT?
Let's hear it!

@BleachDemon99 Yes the riding the clutch thing is a bizarre concept! Blimey, what have you got to do in order to fail 🤣

@BleachDemon99 Oh well, as long as YOU passed! Perhaps he will use the front brake when not using it causes him to crash into the back of a car 😦

Haha classic timing then! Glad to be of service 😁

You did well on the turn in the road and the emergency braking. Get that test booked!
Thanks, I was quite pleased with them 💪
Am trying to get a cbt booked because you just make me more want to do it
Good good, what is stopping you from getting it booked?

CBT should be a lot more comprehensive and looking at your route Tom it seems to be, my road part was about 20 minutes but I'm going back a bit 😂
90s by any chance lol 😆

is there a test station on the island Tommy or will you have to cross the water?

How did you film above?
These are shot using an Insta360 X3 www.insta360.com/sal/x3?INRNEJA
You’re cutting across the lines when you’re turning right, that would be a fail and you need to give plenty of room when turning right
Hey, thanks for the observation. Which point are we talking about so I can check it out?
@@TwoWheelsTommy There were a few turning right into side road at the beginning of your video that you cut across
@ImranOO7 Ah ok, thanks I'll keep an eye on that!
@@TwoWheelsTommy Hopefully you’ll have very little problems on passing
@ImranOO7 That would be ideal!
